What's the one thing you've done for years and years which you'd never go without?

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 13/07/2023 23:41

Brush your teeth

N0ëlle · 13/07/2023 23:41

Eat avocados, sardines and walnuts.
I use cheap moisturiser and always have done. Doesn't matter if you eat good fats.

ginandheels · 13/07/2023 23:44

Lots of water - I drink at least half a litre first thing in the morning to kickstart my system. SPF50, always. Add a tiny bit of foundation into moisturiser - light, dewy, fabulousness and if you have the right moisturiser you will just look like the best version of you and not “done”. Eat the rainbow where possible. Less sugar where possible - boring but makes a big difference. And that includes no booze. I cut it out altogether and see a huge difference in my skin and less brain fog/lethargy. Walking more, minimising stress where you can, decent sleep, fabulous sex, varied and interesting work, activites, hobbies, friends, projects, plans where possible. Healthy habits, regular reviews with yourself in terms of how life is and how you want it to be and then make small adjustments towards what YOU want. Find the fun.

Thisisthescene · 13/07/2023 23:47

The question everyone always asks, which is the best foundation for when you're in your 50's/60's?

oviraptor21 · 13/07/2023 23:47

Exercise and getting out in the sunshine.

Being fat is great for your skin!

It might be line free longer but it quickly succumbs to gravity and forms jowls and double chins instead Sad

QueefQueen80s · 13/07/2023 23:55

In my control:

Botox
Never smoked
Drink a few times a year only
No drugs
Sleep
Stay out of sun

Lucky for:
Had relatively easy life with not much suffering and stress
Genes
No health conditions that I need to take medication for, both which are aging

The people who age the worst are the druggy/drinking, smoking sun worshippers

Shopgirl1 · 13/07/2023 23:59

Exercise, lots of water, low sugar, not too much alcohol, maintain a healthy weight.

That comment about women without children was quite insensitive.

ginandheels · 14/07/2023 00:00

Bobbi Brown 😉

MrsFriskers · 14/07/2023 00:20

Be curious and engage the world and yourself, dont be afraid of the changing environment. More locally, Nivea soft and Origins ginseng Cc for face, let your hair go grey, have a pet and go swimming for fitness.

IridescentRainbird · 14/07/2023 00:33

Wear a bra night and day. Have done this since I was 12, Breast fed two babies. Always had C-D cup bras. I'm 74 now, and still don't have droopy breasts.

Ah yes and low sugar and lots of water.

lilacsinbloom · 14/07/2023 00:36

Don't drink, don't smoke, don't abuse drugs, and don't use Botox or fillers.

You may be surprised to learn that having children is not the only thing that causes interrupted or lost sleep, by the way.

Kugela · 14/07/2023 00:55

Don’t wear uncomfortable shoes or bra because the discomfort shows on your face Smile

Groutyonehereagain · 14/07/2023 01:06

i drink plenty of water, zero alcohol, zero cigarettes and I walk twice a day, every day.

GarlicGrace · 14/07/2023 01:29

My Number 1 beauty secret is not giving a shit 😂 From the age of 15 to 55, I cleansed, toned & moisturised twice a day or more without fail. I did facepacks, massages, and went for hideously expensive anti-ageing treatments. (The Daily Mail paid for one course, but didn't run the story because you couldn't see much difference.) I SPF'd religiously and must have kept Clarins's shareholders in dividends for years. I walked, gymmed, danced, necked vitamins & had lots of sex.

Everybody thought I looked young. Until, suddenly, I didn't. Granted, I smoked, drank and took a fair few drugs during that time - but what's the point of looking fabulous if you have to live like a nun? Nuns don't need skincare!

So I reached the surprisingly relaxing conclusion that ageing is something you can only 'fight' by:
a] dying young;
b] being a boring fucker;
c] being a nun.

It's great! I should start a beauty line with no active ingredients, called No Fucks Given 😏

MintJulia · 14/07/2023 01:41

Sleep, plenty of exercise to retain good posture and fitness levels, good hydration, I make lots of home made veggie soups etc.

A good basic skin care routine, and removing major sources of stress. A divorce or stressful job can add stress lines like nothing else.

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 14/07/2023 01:48

Everything in moderation, including moderation.
Prioritize you, nobody else will.
Avoid the sun.
Avoid bad people.
Moisturize face, neck and chest religiously.
Professional teeth whitening.

CapEBarra · 14/07/2023 05:15

Genetics and a big tub of full fat Nivea.Having good thick well conditioned hair and well kept teeth.

Squirrelsnut · 14/07/2023 05:23

Water.
Sunscreen.
Little alcohol, no fags.
Regular skincare, doesn't matter if basic.
Supplements as needed. I take biotin and turmeric.
Keep hair well-conditoned and adapt to its changing texture.

Working from home has taken ten years off me, allowing me time to:

Cook from scratch, and do lots of hillwalking, gym and Pilates.

Products wise, Charlotte Tilbury magic day cream and Number 7 retinol at night.
