It's this ok for a wedding? (BILs) I don't usually do long, so a little out of my comfort zone but I love it! Just wondered what other people's opinions were. Thanks!

You haven't linked an outfit?

Matildahoney · 11/07/2023 19:51

What kind of wedding is it op? It’s very eveningy, not sure it’s really a day wedding guest dress

FromNowOn23 · 11/07/2023 21:07

It’s very glam/cruise/evening.

ApolloandDaphne · 11/07/2023 21:08

That's not what I would call a dress for a wedding. That's a glam night out, black tie sort of dress.

Meeting · 11/07/2023 21:08

I love it! I think you could definitely wear that to the day any night of a wedding

Matildahoney · 11/07/2023 21:08

@Topictwenty it's at a country type place, all under one roof. I wear dresses on a daily basis so wanted something a bit different.

Wfhandbored · 11/07/2023 21:13

Yes!! Love it!

Amispringy · 11/07/2023 21:15

It's lovely if you're slim. But it looks like something for an awards ceremony rather than a wedding

Colour is fab

qualitychat · 11/07/2023 21:19

If you are slim I am sure you can make it work but as others have said it doesn't scream wedding.

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 11/07/2023 21:19

Love the colour but it’s an evening gown, not suitable for most UK weddings. I’d think you were trying to upstage the bride or be a bridesmaid.

Topictwenty · 11/07/2023 21:24

Given that’s not a black tie wedding, I don’t think it’s right, agree with the comment that it’s right for an awards ceremony. It’s too attention grabbing for a wedding IMO

Matildahoney · 11/07/2023 21:27

To answer the slim questions I'll be 6 months pregnant.

To answer the upstaging the bride/attention seeking, the bride has told me I can wear white or the same colour as the bridesmaid dresses if I really wanted to, she's beautiful & her dress is stunning, there will be no upstaging her from anyone! We're polar opposites, light/dark haired, tall/short, slim/curvy.

ThatFraggle · 11/07/2023 21:29

It's ok for the evening, but not for the day.

Matildahoney · 11/07/2023 21:29

Mother of the bride & mother of the grooms dresses were from specialist shops mog's was £800!!, I'm pretty sure it's going to be a dressy wedding.

Feel free to make suggestions.

I think it's gorgeous personally!!

OldBeller · 11/07/2023 21:33

I think it's lovely and would definitely suit a bump. I love the colour and the shoulder detail.

It's definitely not too glam.

RosesAndHellebores · 11/07/2023 21:36

Absolutely not.

Painte · 11/07/2023 21:37

No, that’s not really suitable.

Growlybear83 · 11/07/2023 21:37

I really don't think that dress is at all suitable for a wedding.

LucyLoopyLu · 11/07/2023 21:41

I think it's lovely and I really love the colour! It could look evening appropriate, but honestly from people's comments I was expecting it was going to be a really dark colour and sparkly.

I think you could make it more "daytime" if needed with your accessories/ hair/ make up. Plus if you want to feel good with a bump I can see why you want to go for something slinky and form fitting. Your usual midi dress type shapes might just feel a bit underwhelming when pregnant.

If you still have any concerns ask another friend who's going or ask the bride! I'm sure they won't mind giving an opinion.

Matildahoney · 11/07/2023 21:45

@LucyLoopyLu I should have probably added it'll be worn with flats, I'm under Dr's orders to not wear heels/wedges under any circumstances.
It's a family wedding so no friends going, might ask MILs opinion. I am at the hen at the weekend so may get an opinion there. DP loves it. Only early days though, 1 of 5 and the only one we both liked.

RuthW · 11/07/2023 21:53

That's not a dress for a wedding.

thecatinthetwat · 11/07/2023 21:57

Not a dress for a wedding imo. Especially country wedding. It is a bit tac, sorry.
