Six weeks to total revamp?

i am the frumpy mum in the school playground.

Fat. Pasty. Frumpy clothes. Older than average (had children late). Crunchy hair. Shy. You know the one.

Now the school holidays are starting I’m wondering if I could go back in the autumn completely transformed. And finally fit in.

Any ideas for my Sandy from Grease transformation?

Can I join in the revamp in 6 weeks please?

For mascara I find the Benefit They're Real brown primer is a good alternative to real mascara for a subtle day look.

where spf daily, any good recommendations for a daily spf that doesn't irritate eyes, isn't sticky, doesn't have a white cast and isn't too expensive?

Same here. I have the ultrasun face 50 which is nice and dries nice, but I'm impatient and want something that will settle quicker so I can put makeup over the top.

Morning all ,
joining late , but a revamp sound great , I have a hair cut and colour booked and as I’m growing it out I need it as it’s a bit of an unruly mess at the minute

,@LadyKX the Clinique I use is Clinique Lash Power Mascara Long-Wearing Formula , I’ve searched and searched and this is the best one (imo ) for no smudges at a reasonable price point .,

I have been putting off a pedi , so I will do that tonight

love all the tips and recommendations for products that work , I can’t trust online reviews anymore

This is such a good idea. I'll throw checking your bra size into the ring, I've been following the Irish bra lady on Instagram and uses an online calculator which took my measurements in a load of weird positions but I look so much better in my correct bra size!

This is such a good idea thank you I'm sure I've been wearing the wrong size for years. I'm following her and going to do the measurements when I stop breastfeeding.

Arewehumanorarewecupboards · 25/07/2023 08:45

I’m on it today.
PT session done, two bottles of water and hair straightened.
Forgot my vitamins but I’ll do those tonight.

Happy Wednesday everyone scales have finally moved downwards hooray and looking after my skin seems to be working! Eagerly waiting for skin + me to arrive see if any good just worried about cost tbh but figure if I don't have any alcohol it will even out lol 😝

See if skin and me works for you then if it does go buy the individual ingredients they recommend from primark or boots. Can work out cheaper after all of the skin and me discounts run out :)

Magien · 26/07/2023 09:15

I'm using a month free trial of my fitness Pal to keep my snacking under control. I've ordered some la roche posay retinol cream as well. I have quite sensitive skin and I know they're good for rosacea etc.so I'm hoping I get on with it.

That's sounds like me. I am def one of the oldest there and my youngest hasn't even started yet! I'm 43. And pasty and overweight. All the other mums seem to turn up in gym gear, don't know what that's about.

LVL lashes made a massive difference to my face. And a quick tinted moisturiser and blusher, takes a minute but makes a difference. Apart from that I have few tips.

Thinking out of the box and totally laterally but maybe.......they're going to go to the gym after drop off 😉

You can't buy tretinoin OTC. It's prescription only.

LBB2020 · 26/07/2023 11:20

I think I will have to write this week off! Healthy eating and holiday don’t seem to go hand in hand for me! We’ve walked a lot but no real exercise done so far (had good intentions and bought my gym gear but it’s stayed in the suitcase!). I have been using a body lotion and foot cream every day and also painted my toenails so that’s something.
Hope everyone is having a good week

ShangPie · 26/07/2023 12:36

This is a great idea! Some great tips here, thanks

I definitely need to work on looking more presentable and a foot up the bum to eat more healthily. Some accountability will help stop me reaching for wine, haribo and biscuits at the end of each day. It’s only day three and already I am hiding from the ‘what next Mummy’ 🤦🏻‍♀️

There’s a lady near me who does fitness classes for adults and kids so I’m planning on going when we get back from Wales next week.

Also need to get on top of meal planning and add more healthy dinners. I read somewhere to flip your thinking to ‘what can I add to make this better for me’ so that even slaggy dinners can have a healthy element.

For skin, I love Skin&Me for a tretinoin / retinol that’s adjustable for your skin. I also got set up on here so am paying it forward if anyone wants my code for £10 off (I also get a tenner off)
https://www.skinandme.com/?promocode=NATALIEP5A4T

Working on adding more hydration after realising that my skin is thirsty rather than dry. Finally getting through the sprays and mists on my shelves after giving myself a spritz after every wee!

Bey · 26/07/2023 14:27

A spritz after a wee sounds like a good way to habit stack. What spritz are you using please? I'd like some inspo my skincare is zilch atm

I was meant to quote you asking about the spritz :)

ShangPie · 26/07/2023 16:38

I have several (apparently I’m a sucker for a spritz 🙄)

+Eve Lom is lovely but the spray nozzle has gone wonky so I’m effectively spritzing my hairline and neck
+Mario Badescu (sp?) with aloe vera
+Emma Hardie that I got in an advent calendar thingy
+Dr Jart Ceramidin, altho this is a moisturiser in a spray form

Typing that out makes me realise I need to rein it in with the sprays!! I guess using up my stash can be another side benefit of the revamp

Arewehumanorarewecupboards · 26/07/2023 18:17

Well done @madmumofteens !

My day has gone quite well. Personal trainer this morning, skin is looking good, straightened hair after gym which I don’t usually do but it made me feel more ‘put together’ iyswim, stuck to peppermint tea and water until getting home at 6 and snacked only on fruit and nuts (sadly not the chocolate variety).
I’m trying to get some energy to go and cook but I don’t want to!

Tonight I want to paint my toenails and must remember the bloody vitamins!

Thank you, which is your favourite?

LolaSmiles · 26/07/2023 22:20

I think one way to revamp is to try a much smaller capsule wardrobe but I like too many different styles.

The classic capsules on Pinterest and blogs seem a bit... beige... to me and very classic in their style. I'd like something with a bit more casual and edge to it. There's no white shirt and camel trench coat in my wardrobe.

CindersAgain · 26/07/2023 22:23

OP, on the hair front, do you need advice on styling it? I find hair makes the biggest difference to how I feel I look.

ShangPie · 26/07/2023 22:41

@Bey I like them all for differing things, but I think my two favourites are Dr Jart for moisturizing and Mario Badescu for freshness and the wakey-wakey feeling it gives me!

@LolaSmiles not sure if you saw the classic thread In Pursuit of Elegance but it’s a great place to start thinking about a capsule wardrobe or at least what you might be missing to create the perfect version of the stuff you already have. Def worth a read!

theonewiththedog · 26/07/2023 23:58

I'd like to join, I piled the weight on as a damaged my knee a few months back, and I've had the all clear from the doctor and the physio to go back to the gym/classes. I'm aiming for about a stone but mainly to lose the 4 inches I've gained around my waist.
I'm going for new glasses and a facial tomorrow and will start couch to 5k again as I found that really motivated me to move, also prepping meals in advance and not buying the biscuits and chocolate.

Arewehumanorarewecupboards · 27/07/2023 08:18

@ShangPie I forgot about that thread! Good shout!

Bey · 27/07/2023 11:36

well I've decided I've spent too long doing nothing with my eyebrows other than a wax and tint so I've ordered some brow make up and I'm going to start brushing them up and filling them in again.

I've also ordered some expensive eye serum that was recommended on Reddit hopefully it helps me look a bit less like I get zero hours sleep a night 🤣

I've been rubbish with my water intake need to focus on that, and I haven't managed to do a workout yet not even 10 minutes. I know that names a huge difference when I do it though so must do that rather than just buying lovely products oops 🙊

Llamallamadingdong · 27/07/2023 11:55

Ooh can I join please?! Ironically there are no more school runs for me as DD has finished at primary last week but I’d like to look better generally and 6 weeks feels like a realistic time frame.

I’m doing 3 exercise classes a week and trying to walk more but need to sort out my horrendous diet (too many carbs and sweets).

This morning I’ve slapped on some body moisturiser and I’m about to paint my nails which always makes me feel a bit better.
