Six weeks to total revamp?

CharlieHadAPigeon · 07/07/2023 13:43

i am the frumpy mum in the school playground.

Fat. Pasty. Frumpy clothes. Older than average (had children late). Crunchy hair. Shy. You know the one.

Now the school holidays are starting I’m wondering if I could go back in the autumn completely transformed. And finally fit in.

Any ideas for my Sandy from Grease transformation?

Morning ladies, first day of the summer holidays and the revamp begins!
Having my hair cut and coloured today and have just done a face mask, body scrub and used a body oil after my shower this morning. We’re on holiday next week so the challenge will be eating sensibly while we’re away!

notacooldad · 22/07/2023 10:32

I'm doing a bit of a transformation at the moment
Here goes.
1 Hair cut and high and low lights ( I normally have this bit was long over due)
2 Eyebrows microbladed and powdered. I love them and go back for my 6 week review next week.
3 Semi permanent eyeliner gets done next week as well. I'm having this done because o love eyeliner but I never quite get it right or end up with panda eyes.

4 I've had my teeth whitened. Only a shade or two. Some people at work have their teeth so white you can see them from 10km. Mine is subtle but I'm happy.
5 make up refresh. Ive been looking at YouTube and insta for make up applications tips to stay current. I always used to buy premium brands but now have a mix if cheaper brands plus old favourites that I keep coming back to.
7 exercise This is on going but I've been doing 4 x a week weight training and 2x cardio and 2x flexibility sessions.
For the flexibility sometimes I go to a class, sometimes I do yoga with Adrienna at home. Same with cardio sometimes a class, sometimes something
else
Also walking for 45 mins every morning.
8 diet. Im not following a particular diet but I have cut out all cake, added sugar ( as much as possible, it's everywhere) I switched my alcohol to a VLS. Protein is the buzz word dt the moment. I've always ate a lot but these days I'm more mindful of what I'm eating.
9 general beauty treatments:
I have always done these but I like to have a decent pedicure and gel polish on my toes. I have my eye lashes tinted and I also have my chin and lip threaded.
10 clothes.maybe because I'm a bit older but I like to keep it simple. but current. Ha e a look around the mall at shop windows in H and M, Next, zara etc to get an idea of the vibe and try out what works for you.eg maybe Cargo pants and a vest top, have a look at AX Paris dresses.
Pick and choose what rips will work for you and have fun enjoying your transformation.

@LBB2020 it sounds like we’re having a similar day. I’ve not got to go anywhere today so I’m slathered in lotions and potions.

I’ve used body scrub, hand scrub, body lotion, nail oil, hand cream, foot cream, face serum, moisturiser, eye cream and neck cream.

In fact, if anyone tries to kidnap me today I’m so slippery I’ll just slither out of their grasp.

I hope you have a lovely holiday.

@notacooldad I’m totally stealing your ideas.

I’ve just contacted someone who does brows to get a consultation, ordered some tooth whitening gel and plan to book a lash tint/lift before school starts back.

Thanks for the tips!

@CharlieHadAPigeon hahaha!
I’m going to tackle my feet this evening, bought a new foot file and some moisturising socks.
Thank you, looking forward to the break and change of scenery! Will take some sheet masks and nail varnish etc with me for if we have a lazy day so I can have a bit of a pamper and also considering taking my gym gear as there is a gym where we’re staying.
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend

LadyBird1973 · 14/07/2023 15:04

I'm doing okay - sticking to the low carb diet. Exercise could be better but I'm trying to be more active. Still taking vitamins. Am making an effort to wear nice clothes everyday and out make up on.

@LadyBird1973 I think the effort is half the battle isn’t it. Getting into nice clothes can seem a waste for small trips but makes a massive difference.

Please may I join?
I don’t have kids at school but like the idea of a six week revamp!

My diet is mostly good although for the first time in forever I absolutely stuffed myself with sweets and crisps yesterday and felt sluggish and sick this morning!
I do drink a bottle of red a week which I should probably stop! And I drink far too much sugary tea which I know I can cut down as I only drink green tea at work!

I have got slack on drinking enough water so need to remember to drink more!

I also need to remember to take my vitamins.

I’ve got quite good skin care routine already although half of the time I’m just slapping things on.

My nails are kept short and neat with just a Dior tinted varnish.

I recently tinted my brows and they are looking Okish.

I don’t get enough sleep and I need my hair cut!

What teeth whitening gel did you get @CharlieHadAPigeon ?

The more the merrier @Arewehumanorarewecupboards (great username btw)!

I’ve ordered a Boots own brand teeth gel. It’s only £16 so I won’t feel too annoyed if it doesn’t work. I’ve done a proper one from the dentist about four years ago that cost a couple of hundred, and you could barely see the results so I’m going cheap this time.

AlwaysWantingIceLollies · 22/07/2023 18:08

I'm going to jump on too! I've been on the rum and coke this evening though so will start a fresh in the morning. 🤣I'd like to cut the sugar and slim down/tone up. Am also very grey but I'm owning that, cannot be bothered to dye anymore, so may just get a new style cut.
Would love to run, is the couch to 5k any good?

user50and · 22/07/2023 18:58

I'd like to join too please! I'm menopausal and bloaty, my exercise and food routines are all over the shop. I start a new job in 6 weeks and would like to lose around 10 pounds. Plan is pilates three times a week and treadmill twice a week. Low carb, high fat, high protein diet and no crisps/cake/bread. Lots of water too. Starting tomorrow...

How are you find in the energy to exercise? I’m so impressed I can barely lift my head off the pillow. I’ve ordered the Superdrug kit to find out what my testosterone levels are and hopefully to be able to get the testosterone gel to give me a bit more ooomph

user50and · 22/07/2023 20:02

3BS I'm not too bad sleep/energy wise tbh, although my motivation is at all time low. I find if I go with someone it makes it easier as I feel I HAVE to go. This is only a recent thing though, literally the last couple of weeks as the weight gain and bloating are really getting to me. I start a new job in 6 weeks and have a glam wedding in Marrakesh next May so really want to get into a healthy habit by then rather than giving up after two weeks. I've recently changed from Femoston to Evoril Conti patches btw.

Trounlet · 22/07/2023 20:18

Can I join please, 54 post menopause, overweight and lost my way with beauty and fashion so a 6 week revamp will do me the world of good.

I'm planning no alcohol, low carb, exercise (even if its only 15min a day). I will whiten my teeth, have an eyebrow appointment along with chiropodist and pedicure with gel toe nails. I want to sort out my wardrobe and build a capsule wardrobe over the next few months.

Starting tomorrow.

anxiousatnight · 22/07/2023 20:19

Oooo I'd love to join this. I too feel sloppy on the school run and even worse if I have to go anywhere else.

Today I started with a HIIT workout. I then went out for lunch and have had friends over for tea, so food not the best today but at least I did some exercise. Drank peppermint tea at lunch so that will help as I'm feeling really bloated.

Plan tomorrow is to do another HIIT workout first thing. Going to parents in laws for tea, so proper healthy eating starts on Monday.

I'm doing my first ever Footner treatment this evening as my feel are horrible and no amount of filing and moisturising seems to help.

Ideally, I need to loose two stone, get a new wardrobe and stop biting my nails (and the skin around my nails. Even is I could loose 1 stone and do the other things by September I'd be a bit happier.

Steppingintome · 22/07/2023 22:13

I could be you OP. I’ve let myself go a bit lately as I lost 7 stone, all my clothes don’t fit and I feel a bit saggy. My hair is also thinning and falling out so I need to get my act together and jump on board!

today I’ve had;
a shellac mani and pedi
eye brow wax and tint
eyelash tint
Hollywood wax

I've also bought some new fancy shampoo for my hair and booked a haircut. I have some teeth whitening stuff from the dentist so I’m gonna actually use it tonight.

I just need to get out of my leggings and T-shirts now haha

CharlieHadAPigeon · 23/07/2023 09:08

This is great - so many of us who, come September, are going to be looking and feeling better than we do now.

@Steppingintome well done on the amazing weight loss. You must feel so proud of your achievement. Sorting out your clothes will be a pleasure now you can fit into different things,

@anxiousatnight I’m with you on the foot treatment necessity. I usually use ones from Amazon that cover the whole foot, but this time picked up a Scholl one. I used it last night and it only covered a small section of the heel! It seems like it won’t have as good results as the full foot ones but I’ll wait and see over the next 2 weeks.

@Trounlet it sounds like you’ve taken lots of action already getting appointments in the diary. Good luck with them.

@user50and congratulations on the new job. Six weeks is plenty of time to make sure you waltz in there on your first day looking and feeling on top of the world.

@AlwaysWantingIceLollies that’s great that you’re embracing the grey. I wish I could because I’m sure my hair would thank me for it. But I don’t have the right skin tone to carry it off (I can’t go blonde either, I look like the undead.)

I’m sitting here with my hair covered in deep conditioning treatment and am off to do some dry body brushing to try and get glowy skin.

LBB2020 · 23/07/2023 12:32

Haircut and colour yesterday, I’m so pleased with the cut! Had a good couple of inches off and it’s just lifted my face a bit (I have very straight lank hair that just hangs when it’s long), colour was just my roots to cover the grey. I booked in to have my roots done again the weekend before school starts back. I’ve filed and moisturised my feet this morning so will paint my toenails later today. I bought a decent fitting pair of jeans and a couple of nice tops in the week so looking forward to wearing something other than leggings on holiday next week, actually excited to pack this afternoon! Also done some yoga this morning, not a bad start (food was dire yesterday as DH went and bought lots of chocolate and cookies etc!).
We can do this ladies! So nice to have others to keep me motivated

Arewehumanorarewecupboards · 23/07/2023 13:26

I’m feeling rubbish today so I think I’ll be kind to myself and start tomorrow!

My plan for the week is:
2 x personal trainer sessions
walk 10000 steps a day minimum
daily vitamins
drink 2 l water a day minimum
Only green tea between 9-5 whether in the office or not.
No snacking.
I need to book a hairdresser appointment.

AbsoIutelyLovely · 23/07/2023 13:48

I lost two stone on keto, in six weeks…. And I’m nearly 50! I hope to get another stone off before I return to the catwalk, oops I mean playground.

I strongly recommend starting that now, especially if you’ve put it on around your middle.

also fake tan
and hair masks
water

FrenchFancie · 23/07/2023 14:37

oh god this is me! (Except I still have two days to slog through at school!).

ive been looking at my diet and it’s terrible! I don’t eat anything like enough fruit and veg. I’ve a question though - when upping fruit and veg, is it ok to make a smoothie? I did slimming world for a bit (put on weight!) but they seemed to say that blending fruit made it worse than a Mac Donald’s milkshake!!

I’m also feeling sorry for myself today because I went on a work night out last night and feel shocking today.

AlwaysWantingIceLollies · 23/07/2023 14:51

@CCharlieHadAPigeon I don't have the skintone for blonde either, probably don't for grey but I'm just fed up of dyeing it every 3 weeks.

After I posted saying I'd start I've actually then gone and broken my toe 🤣 Jinxed myself there saying I'd love to start running. Ideas above my station obviously 🤣

madmumofteens · 23/07/2023 14:54

Thank you for the thread OP DH is currently doing keto so I'm going to give it a try going on holiday next month! Thank you for the skin and me code ChcAuVin as looking awful also listening to naked mind and going to try going AF good luck everyone ❤️

@FrenchFancie I think the science around eating whole fruit and veg rather than smoothies is about speed and chewing. You could have a bowl of raspberries that would take 10 minutes to eat, or blend them in a smoothie and drink them in 1 minute. There’s no difference in nutrients but there is a difference in signals to your brain that you’re full.

I also read something recently about how jaw shape has got smaller over the past 50 years because so much food is processed now to be soft and not require much chewing.

Arewehumanorarewecupboards · 23/07/2023 15:01

@AbsoIutelyLovely how hard is keto? Can it be done as a vegetarian?

AbsoIutelyLovely · 23/07/2023 15:06

Honestly I think it would be really hard and would probs involve a mountain of processed food - but I don’t know.

Worth asking in the LC section. X
