Thanks @neveradullmoment99 didn't think of the obvious.

ilovecherries · 05/07/2023 10:22

My mariners arrived in a 10 (3rd sizing attempt) and I think they are a keeper. May change the buttons to white as it was really the indigo ones I wanted but even if they reappear I can’t cope with any more returns. Do you think they are too long for the style? I’m 5’7 and I’m usually complaining they are slightly too short! (Never happy)

And this is the dress I’m so happy with. Several years old, started as a 14, and the dressmaker has re-made it to what she says is a 10 with a full bust adjustment. You can’t really see the fit in the photo but. I don’t think I’ve ever had a dress that fits me so perfectly. I suppose really at the end of the day, it WAS made for me.

The mariners look fabulous on you. I would probably like them an inch shorter but would turn them up cos I’m lazy!

alliscalm · 05/07/2023 10:40

That dress was my first Toast purchase in Llandeilo several years ago. I absolutely love it.
Can I ask the Toast experts on here if they ever made Gabis in indigo denim? I’ve tried just about every type of Toast denim trousers and none seem to suit me but I love Gabis in cord and cotton.
My sales purchases have been very restrained: the blouson checked shirt (wonderful quality cotton) and the darker hued Maya. I sent back the mariners in denim; they made me look huge.

PretLea · 05/07/2023 10:54

Has anyone bought the birch gingham jacket and alix trousers (bottle green) and found they had to size down from their usual toast size? Comes up really big?

Dee1224 · 05/07/2023 11:02

@neveradullmoment99 - it fitted me on the bust, (no extra room!)

I would re order but I am annoyed at myself- I could have had a discount and lived with the flaws🙃

Dee1224 · 05/07/2023 11:03

That looks so lovely @ilovecherries - I often wish Toast dresses were more fitted!

dudsville · 05/07/2023 11:12

@happysoju , I have the barrel cords in conker from a peevious sale and love them so much.

@Theteapotsbrokenspout , I haven't returned anything in non-toast packaging, but it's all about the label so I wouldn't hesitate to do this if need be. You could always ask about it on chat?

I've sorted through all my returns this morning and thankfully they've all been processed. I have more to send back today.

Those items look great on you @ilovecherries !

Trinitybean · 05/07/2023 11:15

@Theteapotsbrokenspout I have just sent a return in a very similar paper bag, I can't see why it would make any difference.

Denim gabis would be lovely, but I’ve never known them to do them, certainly in the last 8 years, and have never seen them on eBay. The nearest I have is this years panel denim indigo trousers, which are lovely to wear - they sort of feel a bit like Gabis when they are on. They also did indigo hemp Alix two years ago which again were really nice but are now too big for me.

Thanks, I’m really pleased with it. Toast made a few in this style about 5 years ago, with waists and side zips (and voile linings!). They were so lovely and I’ve gradually been acquiring them second hand since they don’t seem to do that style at all now.

That sounds like I’m stock piling them! I have three, including this one, all different colours or patterns.

That’s what I’m thinking too. It’s minimal but I just need a fraction more ankle. I’ll wash them a couple of times to get the worst of the dye out and see if they shrink at all (which to be fair, they usually don’t, I do like that Toast fabric is pre-shrunk) and then get them take up.

It’s fine. I’ve recently sent stuff back in bags from both Hush and Seasalt and they’ve been refunded no problem. I always scribble across the branding but that’s more in case the postie gets confused.

Thanks everyone, spoke to chat, plain envelope is fine. 3 parcels gone back today.

The Oar check dress arrived, quick try on. I don’t think this suits me, surprisingly long, don’t like the lack of cuffs and gaping just below my bust (but quite big everywhere else). I think this will be going back too.

SmaugMum · 05/07/2023 12:00

Long time no see! It’s taken me ages to catch up on all the sale news.

Round two of my sale purchases included the brushed check dress, plus the tie-neck shirt in the same fabric. The dress looks a bit ‘meh’ on the website but I actually really like it, despite because of the Little House on the Prairie collar and the fabric feels really good quality. It’s the same shape as my beloved and oft-worn Vale circle print dress so I know it will become a stalwart of my wardrobe. I am delighted with the matching shirt (£35!) and it looks great and feels really comfortable under my barrel leg denim dungarees.

Finally, I know I’m really late to the party but please could I join the Facebook selling group? I have a barely worn/never washed (I know some folks are puritan about not washing their denim to preserve its colour integrity) pair of size 10 Jessa dungarees that have now been superseded by the barrel leg version; I would like to sell them on.

It's a toss up between this dress and Talafor my all time favourite!
I think this wins as it as a perfect fit and Tala a little gapey under the arms.
It's from Summer 2021 and I have the shell topic the same fabric.

It's one of my niggles that toast doesn't have a few standard styles that would fly out year after year as its such a perfect dress.

This years A/W theme is ...
Clown theme 🤡
Seriously!?

I have the dress and shell top !

BettinaInDenmark · 05/07/2023 12:38

@PretLea I bought them when they first came out. Absolutely lovely set. The trousers are rather big, like all Alix trousers. Just order one size down from your usual. The jacket is oversized, but with adjustable side tabs.

PretLea · 05/07/2023 12:59

Thanks @BettinaInDenmark ! I have a cotton linen Alix in 6 but after reading reviews it seems this particular Alix runs large compared to previous seasons. Gosh, that’s confusing. So I’m trying a 4. And then I grabbed the jacket in 6, but it sits more like a Toast 8 on me and looks possibly a tad too oversized. It’s new sizing too, but never been a 4 with anything.

PretLea · 05/07/2023 13:00

Maybe I should try adjust the side tabs…

dudsville · 05/07/2023 13:42

Clown theme?????? That's ridiculous, maybe they're just trying to make use of all the frilly collars they've put on what would otherwise have been very useful tops. But honestly, who thinks "clown" about any aspect of an outfit and that means something favourable?

Thanks to the toaster who mentioned trying the blue yolk fair isle, I'm sorry I can't name check you! I tried it on a whim and really like it - the blue next to my face is good for me, and the yarn in the darker body bit is a wonderful heathery mix of mostly very dark plum, navy, gold, green... actually it's properly like a gasoline puddle. Perhaps I should advise toast how to describe this colour in future.

@ilovecherries , I wore my hemp mariners for the first time today too, size 10 after much prevaricating (and the 12s were definitely too big). I am 5ft 5in and didn’t even think about the length (which looks very similar to yours) but I am now wondering if I should take them up… They sit nicely on the orange arizonas (old Toast) that I wore and the dhal coloured polo with outsize collar that it probably two years old from Toast and which was unworn until now. I felt very good, top to toe in Toast including a brown leather bag from last summer).
