@Noodle421 - indeed I have and they are very lovely. Bought the Weekend jumper in Navy only a month ago and will definitely buy more from there.

The JC ones were thinner but not see through or flimsy - so hard to get the balance.

All suggestions welcome.

Please don't use sticky moth traps as they attract all insects, bees, butterflies, non-clothes moths, crane flies, etc etc, and subject them to pain. Of course, use regular moth deterrents and kill their eggs before they hatch. I can see moths, have lots of knitwear they don't get eaten even though they're hanging up, they're clean they do not go for clean wool apart from the odd extremely pure expensive kind that does need protecting.

dudsville · 11/07/2023 10:28

I forgot, I have a seasalt summer weight rain coat too, can't remember the name but it's a lovely muted mustard and the fabric feels nice, like cotton, I don't understand how it is rain proof, but it is. Again I bought a size up and "tall" to get the length. (what is the point of a rain coat that only goes to one's knees?)

They currently have a couple of 100 % Merino wool crew necks - Atlantic blue and Harrison blue - ( I think I’ve got the names right). They are thinner but not the V that you are perhaps looking for. They are all soft except the Field crew which I found a tiny bit scratchy due to the mohair content. They still get good reviews, I’m just picky because I have sensitive/ eczema skin.

Noodle421 · 11/07/2023 10:36

I think John Smedley and Hanro do very fine spun knit wear/layering pieces or they certainly used to -

Stravaig · 11/07/2023 10:46

If I remember correctly (it's been a few years!), the article I linked up-thread includes an interesting segment from conservators about the various ways they prevent and treat moth infestations; they have to be extremely careful with historic collections, and can't rely on chemical warfare or mass extermination.

Stoic123 · 11/07/2023 10:50

@Noodle421 - thanks, will take a look.

Architektin · 11/07/2023 11:17

@Trinitybean Fear not, I've been using the pheromone, no pesticides, sticky ones for 3 years now and only ever caught the actual clothes moths. I put them only in wardrobes and draws and nothing else has ever been caught on them.
If only I could find a solution to the multitudes that get caught on my windscreen on daily commute. 🤔

faustina · 11/07/2023 11:46

It took me so long to find a light raincoat which I liked - much harder to find that you'd think. I hate those really noisy nylon ones (like wearing a shower curtain) - anyway, I linked to the boden one upthread which I bought, but this would have been my other choice - I think it's made from the same fabric as the toast one (not shower curtain) and slightly more practical as it isn't one size.

I wish I could wear Toast skirts, but the shapes don't fit me. The waists are always very small and the skirts are all A line or gathered

I used to buy the silk/merino knits from Banana Republic - I think they all went in the Great Moth Invasion. I've often wondered what Navygrey were like so thanks for that info

Ordered a couple more tops to try this morning and there's one more I'm hoping will be restocked - the pretty slubby blue shirt

Thanks so much for the raincoat/coat suggestions, really helpful!

Wished I’d bagged the long Donegal knit in the sale…

BettinaInDenmark · 11/07/2023 12:51

I finally found the Garment Dyed Linen Trousers that have mysteriously hidden themselves since I bought them in January. I love their Marsh Blue colour, and for Euro 115 they were a find.
Wearing them today together with the montella V-neck cotton linen tee and cactus Novesta plimsolls.
Hmm, the linen trousers are probably getting more crinkled than any I have ever had before, but the colour alone makes me love them anyway. I am a total sucker for teal/petrol nuances.
I love the montella tee also. May have to buy another - I have a stupid urge to buy extras of items I really like.

BettinaInDenmark · 11/07/2023 12:55

@PretLea Yes, that knitted coat is both beautiful and very useful. My only issue is that it is huge lump when I fold it and try to shove it into the closet 😉

dudsville · 11/07/2023 13:08

Hmmmmm, I just recieved the Broderie Anglaise Cotton Dress | Conker. I think someone got one of these, perhaps the blue, last sale??? It's really nicely made with french seams, great length, I like the colour a lot, sits perfectly on my shoulders at one dress size down, etc., it's stiff but would soften a bit with a few washes, it is poplin though so will remain crisp. The bib placement allows me to wear it without a bra, always a plus! I think ironing the collar so that it flares open a bit would help it look less austere. I'm wondering how to wear it so that it looks really cool and not really Jane Eyre. Anyone have any search term tips I could use for how others are wearing this type of dress??

I also recieved the Ivy. I'd tried this previously in an M and it was too shapelss/big. At the time I didn't order a size down as I thought it wouldn't suit the intended style of the dress - I've now recieved a size down and I can confirm I was right, for me anyway. I also tried the drawstring denim dress. I think who ever suits the one will suit the other. They're not for me.

faustina · 11/07/2023 13:17

@dudsville - how long is that drawstring dress on you please? and how tall are you? (apologies if I've asked this before)

Countmeout · 11/07/2023 13:48

Got the tie neck tee this morning and although initially I wasn’t sure about the colour (chalk ) it’s lovely on. A nice alternative to a T-shirt and feels great on. I’ve already identified a few things to wear it with so at last a keeper

Dee1224 · 11/07/2023 13:57

Hi,

I tried the round collar chalk tee underneath the (possibly temporary) Pond today - they looked lovely together. Even my OH said they looked nice, so thanks to whoever it was that said they were wearing Pond with a tee!

I woke up at 4am today😱and found that Toast had restocked. By the time I had finished pondering at 5am things I had in my basket, (indigo trapeze and cord dress), had gone. I still bought another cord dress to try, which I am putting down to sleep shopping as I promptly fell asleep again!

I am waiting for another Pond in Small to see if that is freer from flaws on the bodice and the cotton/wool Fairisle tank I have had my eye on. I am unsure why I felt the need to add a random napkin from new stock to my order!

Dee1224 · 11/07/2023 14:03

Sorry the Ivy didn’t work out @dudsville

neveradullmoment99 · 11/07/2023 14:04

I got the tie neck tee in the really dark navy. I was the same, unsure of it to begin with but once I had fiddled with the bit that ties, I really like it. Ive a long neck so It is quite flattering.
Today was one of these days that I have on occasions. Wardrobe full of clothes but nothing to wear! Just couldn't find anything that I was happy with and wanted to feel comfy but nice. Just didnt want to wear anything new.
So I have on the mini check gingham tiered dress. Love this dress so much [ think it was known as the space check dress] with a black tee and my grey and purple vegas. I feel better now ) Anyone else have those days or is it just me?
Looked at the extra things in the sale but I think that is me.

neveradullmoment99 · 11/07/2023 14:06

@Dee1224 I have the emma and the bf tee in chalk. Both look lovely under the pond. I actually especially like the half sleeve under it.

Dee1224 · 11/07/2023 14:10

Ah @neveradullmoment99 - I think it was you who gave me the idea! The round collar tee has half length sleeves - I agree that length looks great.

I just want Pond 2 to hurry up and arrive so I can decide between and start wearing one of them!

I quite liked the linen tee, but the neck was annoying me. Glad it worked out for you.

FiddleFigs · 11/07/2023 14:15

I received the navy tie neck blouse yesterday and love it - so much so that I'm wearing it today, with my Breen cotton/linen tapered workwear trousers (which also arrived yesterday).

After initially not finding much I like in the sale, I've ended up buying quite a few bits, so will need to do a wardrobe sort out and probably will stick a few less frequently worn Toast items on the Facebook group soon.

neveradullmoment99 · 11/07/2023 14:23

The indigo ivy dress came today and it is a winner! Lovely soft denim fabric and I really love the shape but I have had to go down 2 sizes! I am a 14 and I have had to order the small. The indigo comes off but planning to wear it in the Autum with knee boots and thick tights. I just love it.

neveradullmoment99 · 11/07/2023 14:24

Will wash it before wear to prevent staining. I am 5ft 6 and it is just below the knee. It is a real bargain at £65. You just need to get the correct size.

neveradullmoment99 · 11/07/2023 14:25

I would have preferred it just above the knee tbh but really can't be bothered to shorten it.

BettinaInDenmark · 11/07/2023 15:05

So they restocked again - just after I had placed another order...
