Thanks @faustina . Yes could be really useful. May wait for a sale.

ToastCosILoveIt · 10/07/2023 12:38

My small and medium Pond dresses arrived today but I think I am going to have to return them both. The small fits well everywhere but it is slightly tight under the arms. The medium is a better fit on top but simply too much material in the skirt. Also, I am not sure the colour does much for me. I love the idea of this dress but the reality just doesn’t work. So, from that last order I am just keeping the lovely tie dye rib socks in mustard (I already have the indigo ones).

ToastCosILoveIt · 10/07/2023 12:39

And on the moth front, I have been busy on Amazon ordering some of the recommended products and one jumper is in the freezer with more to follow 😏

faustina · 10/07/2023 12:56

The side tab cotton linen twill trousers arrived in a 6 and they're amazing. In the 'old' sizing, a 6 with a fixed waist would quite often be too tight. Now in the 'new' smaller sizing it fits fine. ffs

Snowyowl78 · 10/07/2023 12:57

I got the slate pinafore dress today, not the deep v neck one but one from a few seasons ago I think, cotton and linen. I really like it but it’s massive! My hands don’t feel reach the bottom of the pockets! Does anyone have it? Tempted to keep it but I’ll need to take it up about 5 inches

I ordered those in the shell colour Faustian. The 10 fits very nicely but in the utility trousers I had to size up to a 12…. I decided not to keep them though as I prefer the cut of the slightly darker utility trousers on me. They are lovely though, very flattering and stylish.

faustina · 10/07/2023 13:12

@ToastCosILoveIt - I had a gap in my wardrobe for something neutral, but no gaps for the lovely colour of the utility trousers as I have several pairs in a similar shade - it's a Toast staple and very useful and unusual

Glad we both ended up with what we wanted! (even if it means another drive to the post office)

ScottishMouse · 10/07/2023 13:15

I have it @Snowyowl78 and I love it! Initially I rejected it because it was very long on me, I’m only 5’2”. But I’m not sure what I was thinking, as I think it is perfect now. I wear it all the time. Had been hoping to pick up a second in the sale, it’s one of those items I want to have a replacement for when it finally wears out, I love it that much!

Snowyowl78 · 10/07/2023 13:37

@ScottishMouse did you have it taken up? What size do you have and what size are you normally? Seems massive but I wonder if that’s just the style.

dudsville · 10/07/2023 13:51

@neveradullmoment99 , I'm a 14 and had previously ordered a M and was also swamped. This is different to the navy boat neck which I have in an XL, crazy! I'm waiting for a small too, I think it arrives tomorrow.

ScottishMouse · 10/07/2023 13:57

@Snowyowl78 , I bought a 10 and am usually a 12 in the high street and 10 in most old sizing Toast pieces.
I didn’t take it up in the end. It is long, but I really like it that way now.

I'm feeling fed up with returning things that are too big. Mine arrives tomorrow but paid for next day ( not dpd). I'm hoping the small is fine.

Architektin · 10/07/2023 14:18

Thank you! Good to know.

I got this too. I'm 5ft 6 and absolutely love the length.

neveradullmoment99 · 10/07/2023 14:20

I'm also a 14 but got the 12.

TerrierOrTerror · 10/07/2023 14:43

My first (and only!) sale order turned up this morning. A mixed bag...

My first try of Toast pyjamas is a dangerous success. I'm not sure PJs will ever be the same again. I bought the beautiful Red Kuri floral ones.

I also ordered the v-neck cotton linen tee in the khaki colour. Beautiful colour, so soft and whilst I disagree it's a tee (comes way past my elbow) I think it's really flattering. I have worn a striped toast tee on at least a weekly basis since last February so they are worth the (sale price) money to me.

The two shirts I ordered are both going back. Loved the material of the Ruffled Collar Slubby Check Shirt in brown, really flattering colour but the ruffles just are too high so make me look like I have a double boob. I also ordered the Smocked Organic Cotton Gingham Shirt in bark. I have just returned the second faulty dress in this pattern so expected to love it, for some reason the shirt feels much more bolder and it washes me out.

Dee1224 · 10/07/2023 14:51

Hi,

Just received Pond in Small and the linen tee with the poplin ruched tie thingy in Navy - Medium.

As I suspected, given other people’s feedback, the linen tee was a bit big, but it was ok. I just don’t love it - the sleeves are a funny length on me and I found the drawstring top bit scratchy and annoying. Going back🙃

As for Pond: In Small it’s a better fit - yes, I could probably do with a tiny bit more room up top, but it looks great, (far less material below the waist than the Medium.

I love it…

However, the bodice has loads of noticeable flaws in the linen at front!

I have ordered another Small to see if that’s in better condition 🤞

dudsville · 10/07/2023 15:02

@TerrierOrTerror , !!!!!!

@Dee1224 , you're not having much luck there, hope the new one is better!

Dee1224 · 10/07/2023 15:11

I know @dudsville🤣 But on the plus side, I really like the Pond in Small, so I am happy about that. I was expecting it to be far too tight on top.

If the replacement isn’t right either, I will just make a decision on which one is ‘best’ and keep one.

Am I right in thinking that you are expecting Pond in Small ?

Snowyowl78 · 10/07/2023 15:28

@neveradullmoment99 @ScottishMouse thanks! I reckon I could probably do with the 10, took me ages to nab this one in the 12 so I don’t think one is going to turn up. I’ll probably keep it and take it up. I also got the brown swimming costume but it doesn’t look great, not much support, doesn’t do me many favours.

ScottishMouse · 10/07/2023 15:36

@Snowyowl78 , I think I could have fit into the 8 in the pinafore, but I like the looseness and the fact I can wear a sweater underneath in winter.

I absolutely love mine. Can wear and layer it all year round and I get compliments. It feels effortless. Can wear a jumper over the top which changes the look. It’s very versatile.

ScottishMouse · 10/07/2023 16:23

Right folks….Now that I have purchased a bunch of dresses in the sale, I need some advice on how to wear them when the weather is cooler/wetter. The reason I never wear dresses outside of summer is that I can never figure out what kind of jacket or coat to wear over them. I’m ok for the depths of winter as I have an ankle length puffer coat that will work. But what about autumn/spring…I think a shorter jacket looks better over Toast length dresses…but I need it to be warmer than a lightweight jacket. And what about rainy days…my rain jacket from Finisterre is great but looks pretty terrible over a dress.
Ideas??

Snowyowl78 · 10/07/2023 16:26

@ScottishMouse to add to that, what does one wear on one’s legs? I don’t like tights much, do people go bear legged or have boots/tights etc?
