Just took my faulty gingham dress back to store. Strangely despite customer services telling me they couldn't help, the store had to ring to authorise a refund due to the item already having been exchanged once.

I love the dress and am very tempted to pick it up in the sale (significantly cheaper than what I paid) BUT two items with the same fault is really putting me off. Both dresses were only worn once.

I can't say much of the new season Toast stock I loved, there's a lot of blue. I much prefer greens and browns!

Stoic123 · 09/07/2023 16:08

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - they aren't as 'brown' as my chocolate ones but have definitely lost that blue tinge.

dudsville · 09/07/2023 16:55

My handmaids dress, "ticking stripe"?, has developed a loose side seam down near the bottom hem. It's an easy fix but just adds to the long list of faulty items everyone's mentioning lately. But in checking it over I also saw that it had French seams inside which i hadn't actually noticed before, so it was an "oh? Ah!" Moment!

ScottishMouse · 09/07/2023 17:04

I have a fault to report too. Noticed a while ago that the lovely needlecord dress has a tiny hole at the back. You wouldn’t see it, and given the volume of fabric in the skirt, I’m not sure I can blame quality control for not spotting it, but it is kind of annoying. I can put a stitch in it that nobody will ever notice, but I may also email them to have a word about it.
Leaning towards keeping the needlecord and the Turrell dresses and sending the pinafore back, though I’m still swithering about the fabric of the Turrell.

Does anyone have a view on when the sale is ending please? I think I am in peak FOMO - has anyone tried https://www.toa.st/products/a-line-cotton-canvas-wrap-jacket-calico or https://www.toa.st/products/easy-pleated-poplin-trousers-copper ?

I have the poplin trousers. I love them but wish I’d gone down two sizes rather than one (from my high street size) Super comfy and cool without being too wafty. Although I was too mean to buy a bag in Superdrug today and loaded up the pockets with holiday shopping instead. Nearly ended up round my knees.

@ScottishMouse i have the Turrell, love it. I had it taken up. I washed it and thought I’d shrank it but a steam later and it was fine. What are you worried about?

ScottishMouse · 09/07/2023 18:40

Just how it will wash @Snowyowl78 . I usually avoid viscose, not a huge fan.
It’s a lovely dress though.

Brillenbar47 · 09/07/2023 18:41

That's brilliant @ilovecherries - so good poaching trousers then

ScottishMouse · 09/07/2023 18:42

I have a question about caring for Toast homeware. Not moth related.
has anyone washed one of the quilts that says dry clean only? I have a cream and black check one from last year (think it was called Leela), and it could do with a clean but I don’t do dry cleaning. It’s 100% cotton, but with very light wadding (also 100% cotton) so maybe that is the problem for washing.
it was a gift, I would never have bought it for this reason.

Countmeout · 09/07/2023 20:00

Is the wadding stitched in @ScottishMouse ? I don’t know the quilt. I think if it were stitched in I’d risk it in cool water. Only drawback I could see would be colour run. I’m very ram Stan about washing dry clean quilts.

Countmeout · 09/07/2023 20:00

Stam 🤦‍♀️

ScottishMouse · 09/07/2023 20:27

Thanks @Countmeout the wadding is stitched in. I’m not worried about colour run, but I would hate to ruin it. I’ll wait and see if anyone else has washed one…

ilovecherries · 09/07/2023 20:38

My moth stuff arrived. Traps set up in the bottom of every wardrobe and sachets scattered everywhere.

That was quick @ilovecherries !

I'm hoping they will do one last restock for the sale, but I think it might end quite soon - they always seem do it without warning too!

ScottishMouse · 09/07/2023 21:01

My money’s on Mon 17th @faustina it ended last year at midday Mon July 18th, I see they sent an email on the Sunday morning to say so.

faustina · 09/07/2023 21:05

Oh that's good @ScottishMouse - plenty of time then!

Noodle421 · 09/07/2023 22:59

faustina · 09/07/2023 13:13

@Stoic123 - oh no! It is quite an open weave isn't it. how annoying that you got the length but not the same quality. Hope it goes well for you

@Noodle421 - could you just have a look at them to check for eggs? And then get some moth protection for going forwards. I have acana sachets for my drawers and little hanging things for my wardrobes (I use three along each hanging rail). You could also buy bags to keep them in if they're on shelves? And perhaps pop a sachet in the bags

Thanks for the tips Faustina, I’ll also check for eggs. I didn’t realise they’d be big enough to spot visually.

Hence my usernameGrin

I clocked your username early on and thought this could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship 😍 I find alpaca also drapes beautifully. I’m a relative newcomer to this wool and I love it. Thanks for all your tips. Very helpful. I’ll look into the IKEA bags and I have now started a freezer rotation of knits. I’m putting a new system in place.

Got my Fracap ankle shoes in Ink out today to wear, this year’s shoe worn several times but not recently, and they’ve gone from blue to brown.
I thought I must be seeing things but DH agreed, they’re just not blue any more.
I’ve always cleaned them with neutral polish and they were definitely blue last time I wore them. I’ve emailed Toast to ask if using blue polish will restore the colour. It seems a really strange thing to happen Confused .

Toast were very good about refunding me a pair of Sturlini lace up brogues. I’d had them in my wardrobe for a year before wearing them and I was worried Toast wouldn’t believe that I’d worn them only a handful of times. Beautiful shoes but they started to look worn and scruffy very quickly. I was given a full refund. Customer care was excellent. I’m sure you could get a replacement/ refund too as changing from the beautiful ink blue to brown is not something you should put up with.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 10/07/2023 08:21

I’ve emailed Toast about them @Noodle421 , although I didn’t send a picture, I just asked whether I could restore the colour with polish, and why it changed.
I didn’t consider they might offer a replacement, I’ll wait and see what they say.

Good luck. If it were me I’d be pushing for a replacement pair. They are costly shoes.

@Architektin Great Baltic linen fabric is sold in the UK by Merchant & Mills; I love their fabric, which is often very Toast-ey

Countmeout · 10/07/2023 10:25

Tried this
https://www.toa.st/collections/sale/products/hand-woven-check-cotton-shirt-multi

Really lovely light material but limited in what else it goes with in my wardrobe. Also the background colour does nothing for me.

And

https://www.toa.st/collections/sale/products/organic-cotton-pique-shirt-herb

similar to this now seems to have disappeared, was lighter weight than I expected , in ecru which was paler. Might need to size up but felt it could be useful in the long sleeve full price one in navy ish. Not sure it’s very useful in a short sleeve.

faustina · 10/07/2023 11:46

@Countmeout - about the pique shirt: I have the long sleeved one in navy from last year and it is extremely useful - can wear as a jacket or shirt. I bought mine in the last Toast sale, but there are a few on Ebay and vinted if you don't want to pay full price

neveradullmoment99 · 10/07/2023 12:08

The ivy denim dress came today. Lovely but it swamps me in a medium. I've reordered it in a small. I'm a 14!
