@neveradullmoment99 - the copper linen was an absolutely beautiful dress - it’s a deep orangey ochre - very flattering- it’s a colour I particularly like. I was disappointed that it wasn’t a good fit on me.

It will probably be back with Toast on Tuesday or Wednesday if you want to enquire about it.

Thank but I have so many dresses!! I have bought way too many. Maybe in the next sale :)

Toast linen dress came an it's gorgeous. It's a little sticky out at the sleeves/ shoulders but is a really gorgeous dress. Colour is beautiful. It probably washes me out a little but I'm sure with washing it will soften and will age beautifully. I could do with being an inch taller as it's marginally long in the body but not ridiculously so. Think it's a win!

I have this and love it, just wish that they hadn't gone with the Daal colour as it doesn't suit me or I would have bought both colours
It's a beautiful fabric and I don't find it too warm at all.

Hi,

I can’t remember who had the bento box with the split spoon, but it’s back in stock. If Toast haven’t yet found you a replacement, it might be worth having a word via Chat.

It was me thanks. I've had an apology email from Toast advising that they've asked the warehouse to send a replacement.

Hopefully on its way soon.

I’m annoyed with toast as I ordered something next day delivery with them on Thursday and it didn’t turn up and now DHL says it’s coming monday! Ordered a few of those brown swimming costumes, could be a dreadful mistake!

Back after a few days away with work, and what a gorgeous treat to sit and read this thread.
Thank you SO much @Noodle421 for the heads up on the Breen A line Cotton Linen skirt, I have arrived home to find it waiting here and whilst I was away I also ordered the Shell version, just in case it was good and I missed out on that one too. It is a beautiful and flattering skirt.
@Alpacasoft know just what you mean with stocking up for the future, I'm on a similar trajectory to you!

Also I'm never sure that there'll be that much nice stuff around in future. I'm struggling to find supplies that have disappeared, such as good quality fabric, decent quality unscented candles.
Art supplies not made in China.. especially replacement brushes, camera film, all for work projects. If I don't find these on my work travels I get by mail and end up paying import duty, mainly from Japan and old European centres.
My clothes are now mostly Toast, reliable, on the whole, and lovely fabrics. The rest from Europe. Danish clothes, good quality but expensive, as is the rest of Scandinavia. I have been to the Baltics and the linen is totally superior, made on centuries old weaving looms. Thicker, organic, crease resistant, so have stocked up with clothing from there.
I have a few bits from me+em, trousers are excellent. A few special dresses for work from Ceffin, those in their techni fabric for travel.
But in the UK Toast is still hard to beat, despite a few quality niggles.

Stoic123 · 08/07/2023 14:59

@Architektin and @Alpacasoft - thank you.

You've made me feel less like a shopoholic (albeit limited scope) and more like a prepper.

Architektin · 08/07/2023 15:09

My good deed for the day then @Stoic123 😅😂😅

Sounds like a lot but it's what the folks at Toast would call 'curated, considered, thoughtful and edited!
😆

MiracleToast · 08/07/2023 15:09

@Snowyowl78 i also ordered the swimsuit —I’ve been eyeing it a while. I’m hoping the brown is warm mauve

Snowyowl78 · 08/07/2023 15:11

@MiracleToast it went down to a nice price didn’t it! People are very positive about the colour on the reviews. I’m worried the straps will be too long for me as I’m short. We’ll see! On Monday…

MiracleToast · 08/07/2023 15:17

@Snowyowl78 mine also arrives on Monday. I feel I maybe should have got two sizes to try. Great price indeed! Might motivate me to sugar my legs!

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 08/07/2023 15:29

Two parcels today, the gathered linen dress in apricot, which arrived really creased and looking grubby. I did try it on but the colour didn’t suit me and if I gathered it to give me some shape it seemed to pull oddly at the front of my arms.

The other parcel was the mariner hemp trousers in 2 sizes. The 12 were definitely too big, but the 10 sat quite high on my waist when I’m used to wearing more slouchy trousers. I love the overall shape of them and the material but I'm wondering if I will get used to the fitting on the waist. Do they give a bit in wear? And has anyone washed theirs yet and seen if they soften up? I would really like to keep them.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 08/07/2023 15:35

@Zeusrules what’s the Cambridge shop like? I keep promising myself I’ll make a trip there but never get around to it. I normally get to one of the London shops once or twice a year but it’s always a flying visit so not very conducive to trying much on.

faustina · 08/07/2023 15:43

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - the Cambridge shop is my local. It's nice - helpful staff. It's quite small, but they often have other sizes downstairs and will fetch them for you. There's very little homeware. Very very small changing rooms!

I’m so pleased you like the skirts. I think they will be useful. I thought you had missed out on the Breen sizing wise - I must be confusing you with someone else. Anyhow, glad you managed to nab one. I liked it so much I ordered the Shell and it’s due today.

@Architektin
I buy fabric from Merchant and Mills, Backstitch, The Drapers Daughter and I'm extremely lucky to have a lovely shop near me.
I also love good heavy linen and have lots of dresses made for me, to my specification all sent beautifully wrapped , usually a couple of months from order to arrival.

Regarding laundering I'm not a fan of not washing knitwear I'm afraid., unless it's the type of Iceland knitwear that's worn as outwear with other layers under.
A couple of wears is fine but not washing for a whole season is not for me.
I handknit and proper care is needed to keep the fibres in shape, reduces bobbling and I live in abject fear of m*ths.😱
Nothing ever goes back into my wardrobe unwashed.😅
I air by the open window and my rule is one wear next to the skin, two if trousers or skirts.

Noodle421 · 08/07/2023 15:53

@Architektin I now see many sizes of the Breen are back in stock and nothing has sold out in the Shell. I must say I think they are a bargain for £75

Interesting, does washing knitwear not encourage break down of fibres and bobbling? Very happy to be persuaded otherwise as I’m no expert and only want the best for my winter woollies. As a previous knitwear washer I was pleasantly surprised at how just an airing did seem to refresh the garment considerably. I dread the moths too and will happily wash if this will help deter them. I’ve invested a fair bit of £ into my knitwear collection and I’ll be gutted if the little critters have a nibble. It’s happened before !

I knit with very high quality fibre, mainly alpaca, wool, mohair and cashmere.
Bobbling is caused by wear, the loose fibres gather on the surface and due to friction the fibres form bobbles.
It's often thought of as a problem with cheap knitwear and it can be exacerbated by a poor choice of yarn, gauge to loose for the design.
Gentle washing and I really do mean gentle, minimal handling, correct temperature etc removes the excess fibres, body oil and the skin cells that m*ths feast on.
I never store knit wear or my clothes unwashed -they will sniff it out!
Obviously if you are rough or bung stuff into a wash it will be ruined
I had an outbreak once due to a yarn cake being infested and it took ages to get rid of them.
Everything is stored in moth proof bags/ boxes and I stick all new knitwear and yarn in the freezer.
I am paranoid though@

Snowyowl78 · 08/07/2023 16:16

I did not know moths were keen on unwashed stuff! @Alpacasoft i have a load of toast cashmere jumpers and I haven’t washed any of them as I don’t want to shrink them, how would you wash them?

This is why I dont like leaving too many worn once items on my wardrobe!
They like the pheromones. They are attracted to them.

Noodle421 · 08/07/2023 16:28

@Alpacasoft thank you for sharing your knowledge and tips. I have stored a couple of jumpers without washing - only worn a couple of times, hope they will be ok. You are right to be super cautious, moths can cause such damage. Do you use fabric boxes to store? It it ok to store them in plastic bags or does it need to be breathable? I have super soft alpaca wool and high quality thick 100 % sheep wool - I can’t afford to replace them !

Snowyowl78 · 08/07/2023 16:29

oh dear! Maybe I should pack my stuff away

Fabric boxes won't protect.
