Hello again! Thread 33 or something!

Thought that I was done with Toast sales but have ordered a pair of the panelled denim trousers (sold out in most sizes/not on sale with Toast) that happen to be on sale with Uniform Research.

Their success may determine the fate of the Maple herringbone trousers.

Zeusrules · 08/07/2023 09:22

@Theteapotsbrokenspout I too am hoping for a Norwich branch of Toast but often pop to Cambridge to do my returns in person and have a try on.

Currently waiting for my last sale parcel, got the starfish jacket as it was further reduced and I love the print.

I saw those! Fab bargain. Sadly I bought at full price! Didn't have my size anyway.

dudsville · 08/07/2023 09:36

Thought you were done with the sale? Famous last words @Stoic123 !

Stoic123 · 08/07/2023 09:40

Different website @dudsville - surely that doesn't count? 😉

Stoic123 · 08/07/2023 09:56

@dudsville - I am a bit ashamed though. Realised I had enough weather and ocassion appropriate Toast stuff (unless absolute heatwave all month) to wear a different Toast outfit every day with possibly a little tee repetiton. In my defence, there isn't much other than Toast in summer wardrobe.

So my July challenge: different Toast dress, bottoms or jumpsuit every day in July. No repeats and wear only Toast.- excludes sleep/exercise/underwear/ footwear.

Day 8.

Good plan! Ive bought way too much as well! Maybe I should do the same except I don't like to wash after every wear. I put it on a hanger and air it and wear another day [dresses and trousers but not tops] I would end up building up too many things that would be half clean!

neveradullmoment99 · 08/07/2023 10:46

Actually @Stoic123 I saw they had the Maeve dress on that website for £100. Only in an 8 :( Gutted I missed the other sizes.

Stoic123 · 08/07/2023 10:56

@neveradullmoment99 - I'm turning the ones I've worn inside out on the hanger (unless particularly dirty and into wash). I'll probably repeat exercise in August - but with wear and wash. If I don't want to wear again - time to wash and sell. Other clothes are in a different side of wardrobe for this so not mingling.

Shame you missed the Maeve.

Good idea about turning the clothes inside out. Will do that!

Don't feel ashamed!
I'm in a worse position than, in that I have enough dresses to wear a different one everyday for 2 months.
I don't give a fig!
I don't drink, smoke or have any other major vices*and it's my money.

I'm in a very fortunate position of being healthy, currently employed and my nest is now empty hurrah
I have been deliberately purchasing a new wardrobe as I have more time to wear it plus also in a few years I will retire and I won't have the disposable income I have now.
One of my extremely well dressed and sensible colleagues told me this and so I have been building up my wardrobe, also books and hobby stuff.
Everything is considered and I always try to buy in the sales / vinted/ charity shops.
If it's not right then it goes straight back.
That's what I love about toast, classics that I hope to be wearing for years to come.

*unless you consider buying fabric and yarn a vice !

Stoic123 · 08/07/2023 12:09

@Alpacasoft - yes, they are a bit of an investment. I am pleased that I really like nearly all the Toast items I own (3-4 maybes are still on probation).

I recently sold a lot of my old mistakes (bought before I learnt to be stricter with returns) and some eBay/Vinted punts. I do need to be careful things don't languish - clothes are given life by wearing.

neveradullmoment99 · 08/07/2023 12:24

Toast linen dress came an it's gorgeous. It's a little sticky out at the sleeves/ shoulders but is a really gorgeous dress. Colour is beautiful. It probably washes me out a little but I'm sure with washing it will soften and will age beautifully. I could do with being an inch taller as it's marginally long in the body but not ridiculously so. Think it's a win!

Be aware that they seem to grow! I wish I’d sized down as they were fine when I first tried them on, but I should have gone for ‘squeeze them on’ for a better fit.

I do this. Only wash something after a particularly sticky day or if I’ve had a spill.

parcelled up the brown gingham just wasn’t for me. I was also surprised to see it didn’t have french seams. Do I have to have actually dropped it at post office to get my mushroom?

Countmeout · 08/07/2023 13:24

Oh and did anyone see on Instagram (obvs spend my life there) the demonstration of twisting the creased stuff. The dress she was wearing looked very creased. It also seems to have a dropped waist. Well more dropped than I would like.

Dee1224 · 08/07/2023 13:32

Really glad you like it @neveradullmoment99 - it’s a lovely dress.

My size 12 has gone back today, along with the lovely linen dress in copper, (very sad that didn’t fit right 🙃).

Stoic123 · 08/07/2023 13:44

@neveradullmoment99 - will definitely wear well.

Thanks @ilovecherries - will bear in mind.

I'm wearing the recent diamond block blue trousers for the first time today. Was really hot and humid this morning and they were lovely and cool.

Noodle421 · 08/07/2023 13:53

I’m trying to wash my stuff less often and I’m amazed at how clean and fresh a garment looks after a quick steam iron, spot wash, a spritz of clothing spray and an air. Sometimes I handwash/soak the collars - I always seem to get a yellow smear of sun cream on this area no matter how careful I try to be - I apply it and allow plenty of time for it to dry before I put the garment on but I still get a yellow stain. Anyone got any tips to avoid this ? I think this will degrade the top and reduce its longevity more than anything else.

I have the copper dress in coffee. It's a fantastic dress.
I wasn't sure about the copper dress, colourwise. Was it nice?
I'm not a fan of orange. Wasn't sure how orange it was!

I had to get the large in that dress for bust fit.
Everyone said it was really tight.
I wear that dress a lot!

neveradullmoment99 · 08/07/2023 13:55

I've the pond on today with a wee tee under it. It's so wafty!

Well said. Agree with all of this. I’ve now introduced a rule of only allowing to keep items I truly like and most importantly feel good in. I used to keep things purely because they were a bargain. Hopefully my attempts at a more curated choice will stand the test of time.

Noodle421 · 08/07/2023 14:01

I was also a bit sceptical about advice not to wash pure wool knitwear but air instead. It really does work. Airing, a little steam, spritz of knitwear spray and wearing on rotation rather than several days in a row really does work to freshen it up.

Dee1224 · 08/07/2023 14:06

@neveradullmoment99 - the copper linen was an absolutely beautiful dress - it’s a deep orangey ochre - very flattering- it’s a colour I particularly like. I was disappointed that it wasn’t a good fit on me.

It will probably be back with Toast on Tuesday or Wednesday if you want to enquire about it.
