@Brillenbar47 , perfect suit, fabulous. Re the dress, i agree the waist line needs more. Have you tried a belt? I like the way the dress can make it look like the wearer is in shadow.

So just to add to the navy mariner hemp trouser love this was my outfit today - with the jacket too. For those worried about colour transfer I have just taken off and inspected the white t shirt and it is pristine 😍

Never mind the outfit (which I love!), what about that belt! It’s the belt of my dreams.

Love the photo inspiration @Brillenbar47 and @Laska2Meryls - the dress really suits you. I think it’s similar in shape and style to the cashmere/cotton one I have.
I’m kind of annoyed with myself. Visited Toast shop with a return and came out with the new stock Fayre dress in blue - oops 😬 how did that happen ??
I love it - pretty shape in slightly stiff poplin cotton. Full skirt and pleats without being overly voluminous. Neat fit on shoulders and bust. Very comfortable and effortless to wear. Good weight fabric for wear over summer or cooler months. I bought a medium and I’m a UK 12. Very happy with it.

Noodle421 · 06/07/2023 00:06

@ilovecherries your tailor has worked wonders with your dress, what a marvellous fit. A friend has recommended a tailor close to me and I’m going to look at having a few alterations made. It didn’t occur to me to do this before but it’s such a good idea, it’s a service I hope to use regularly from now on.

A few more sizes and a patchwork quilt added this morning to sales stock, including the drawstring waist linen dress, not the cobalt blue one.
The Green Gingham Jacket also, but in small sizes.

I think someone on an earlier thread was waiting for a patchwork quilt?
See pic above in my previous post, it was restocked this morning.

dudsville · 06/07/2023 07:23

Thanks@Architektin, i feel i looked out of a sense of duty, but actual the navy boat neck was back, I'm trying an xl based on previous experienceof the M, but am expecting it to be oddly short and square.

Architektin · 06/07/2023 07:35

@dudsville Yes, I only look out of the slightest of slight interest too.. but just noticed on my pics above there are 3 items in my bag. 😜Busted.

Dee1224 · 05/07/2023 17:59

Looks lovely @Laska2Meryls - what size did you get?

@Dee1224 Thanks ( and thanks everyone else for the oar check dress compliments)
I bought XL , Dee, as I am wide of shoulder and 36e/f. 14/16 on top.. It's loose on me and I could possibly have got the L but I prefer it looser.. The one thing is that the buttons are slightly oddly placed and could be gappy on the bust in a smaller size , but ill be seeing a popper in jic ..
Its definitely a bargain at £62!

Laska2Meryls · 06/07/2023 07:50

@ilovecherries
I think that of you use green dye you'll get a very yellow green with that top ( far more than the T-shirt that I did as it was lighter to start with) so if I was doing it id probably use blue dye possibly even navy. ...But it would be a gamble on what shade it would actually come out as that yellow is very bright. I dont think that it would be possible to get and approximation of the Thorn colour..
I have never tried dylon pre-lightener , but if you used that first then you could possibly try Dylon Emerald green ( which in my experience comes out to lighter than expected)..

I dont think that youd ruin it but you may have to decide whether to be brave or not .. ( I reckon id give it a go tbh but I can be a bit gung ho! )

Laska2Meryls · 06/07/2023 08:01

😂@Architektin !

I may have put the Shore checked scarf in my basket earlier .. perhaps..

I find the buttons are always annoyingly placed on Toast garments, creating a gape.
I love the dress on you @Laska2Meryls looks amazing on you! Was tempted, but I'm not great with that length. I suit things longer.

neveradullmoment99 · 06/07/2023 08:04

The Dhal linen dress came back in stock in a 14 and I managed to get it.
I ordered the skirt in the same colour.
It's bright! I may not suit it but I love the style. It may not even fit me.

Saurus72 · 06/07/2023 08:05

Morning, does anyone have any idea when the sale might end please? We’re away until Wednesday and seeing @Laska2Meryls in the oar checked dress I’m really tempted - it’s one that looks better on a real person I think. Plus what a bargain! I’m envisaging it as a work dress with knee boots. I need to try and time it so it doesn’t get delivered before we get back.

In the meantime and in the spirit of loving what I already have, here’s my best Toast bargain ever I think - I bought this for under £50 in the mad JL sale of 2020. It’s one of my favourite dresses of all time and I wear it all the time in summer - we’re on holiday atm and it’s just perfect.

Architektin · 06/07/2023 08:19

@Saurus72 That's the essence of a good Toast dress in fabric, shape and colour.
Missed out on that but it looks lovely on you.
Not sure sake end date, checked emails from last year but nit much help.
@Laska2Meryls the Oar dress is really fabulous material, mine needed a bit of tweaking but as you say, a true bargain!

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 06/07/2023 08:28

I ordered the gathered linen dress in apricot early this morning but then it promptly went out of stock, so I’m not sure it will actually be fulfilled.
I did wonder about the liquorice , which would probably be more practical, but I have a lot of dark dresses in my wardrobe.

@neveradullmoment99 I’m beginning to give up on toast Shirt dresses and shirts as everything seems to gape now. I don’t know whether they have changed their designs or I’ve changed shape.

Looking lovely, hope you are somewhere nice. I bought that dress at the same time as you, then sent it back which I kicked myself for after.

I’m trying to pack for a holiday next week, and I’m clearly out of practice as haven’t been abroad since 2019. Since then I’ve acquired many beautiful summer dresses from Toast but I’m dithering about whether to take (some of!) them or my cheap ‘high summer’ wardrobe which has been sitting unloved in the loft for 4 years. Don’t get much chance to wear that type of clothing in Scotland so it always tended to be used only for holidays then washed and packed away again till the next time. I wonder if Toast will be too hot (even the linen often has a lot of pleating and the poplin is substantial) and/or I worry about the sun cream and mozzie repellent ruining them. I do almost have to bathe in both. OTOH, what are nice clothes for if not for wearing. I do know this is a first world problem I’m lucky to have, but can’t decide. I’m only going for a week as a practice run of leaving my mum home alone before a much longer trip in the autumn.

The dhal.lunwn went oos too.
It may not be fulfilled either. Ah well...

Saurus72 · 06/07/2023 08:50

@ilovecherries I would say take the lovely things! We’re in Bulgaria, c.30 degrees and have brought mostly Toast dresses (plus a Muji linen shirt dress and a Hush dress), all fine so far re: temperature. I too use copious amounts of SPF 50 but this year I’m using Ultra Sun translucent spray which is life changing. Non greasy/sticky and doesn’t get on clothes.

This is also a game changer Over make up SPF50 spray

Super UV Protection Mist SPF50 | Sun Protcection

Developed for the sensitive face area and enriched with hyaluronic acid, Super UV Protection Mist has a fresh, ultra-light texture that gives an invisible finish on skin.

neveradullmoment99 · 06/07/2023 08:53

@Theteapotsbrokenspout I think it's button placement. Too much of a gap between each button and at the wrong point. If you have a small bust it's fine. If not, it's a struggle. It's very annoying. I change my bra usually to something that flattens my chest. This does help.

Dee1224 · 06/07/2023 08:55

That dress looks lovely @Saurus72 .
(I am currently dressed head to toe as Pikachu for an event at work🤣)

As for when the sale might end…I wonder if they will do final reductions later today with a finish at some weird time on Monday.

I still haven’t got either of my large refunds back into my account, but Toast assure me they are en route…

Brillenbar47 · 06/07/2023 09:02

@Noodle421 that is a lovely lovely dress

BettinaInDenmark · 06/07/2023 09:03

Tried out the sale-take-two Agean Green and the Charcoal loop back easy sweater this morning; rather surprised that the charcoal looks exactly the same shade as the black coffee linen trousers and shirt from the same lot.
Ended up wearing chalk/slate check linen trousers and carbon black V-neck cotton linen tee together with the agean green and spring-bought cactus Novesta plimsolls.
How comes it always seems more fun to wear just-bought clothes than the gazillion items already in the closet???
