@ilovecherries I would say take the lovely things! We’re in Bulgaria, c.30 degrees and have brought mostly Toast dresses (plus a Muji linen shirt dress and a Hush dress), all fine so far re: temperature. I too use copious amounts of SPF 50 but this year I’m using Ultra Sun translucent spray which is life changing. Non greasy/sticky and doesn’t get on clothes.

This is also a game changer Over make up SPF50 spray

Oh, I have that sunscreen for my face but haven’t used it yet as using up my LRP (which is staining everything!). I’m off to boots to investigate the ultra sun. I’ve had one SCC and multiple BCC removed in the last year, one requiring a skin graft, so I’m paranoid now (I was always careful as an adult but a 60s childhood caught up with me I guess)

I found Toast a bit warm @ilovecherries . The only one I’ve worn on holiday successfully is the Alder as it’s so floaty and light. The triangle is light but a bit dark sometimes when you’re away I think certainly for a beach resort. The materials are quite substantial in Toast I find. So I have a M and S/ Next sundress collection for going away.

Your remade dress is fantastic. I think that was really good value too.

That dress might have been made for you @Laska2Meryls .

I agree re the button placement on button fronts, I’ve resorted to a pin more than once.

Snowyowl78 · 06/07/2023 09:17

On hols I always take my nicest clothes and I also use it as an opportunity to wear things I might be shy to wear at home.

Does anyone have any idea about sizing on this? Reviews not much help and I want is asap so would rather not mess about with sizing.

Tried out the sale-take-two Agean Green and the Charcoal loop back easy sweater this morning; rather surprised that the charcoal looks exactly the same shade as the black coffee linen trousers and shirt from the same lot.
Ended up wearing chalk/slate check linen trousers and carbon black V-neck cotton linen tee together with the agean green and spring-bought cactus Novesta plimsolls.
How comes it always seems more fun to wear just-bought clothes than the gazillion items already in the closet???

This is what I constantly grapple with, being content with what I already have. I think the only way to be fully content with my wardrobe is to ignore and not access Toast and other websites, which I’m not quite ready to do. I am being more intentional with my shopping, filling gaps etc but my ‘small capsule’ seems to have a mind of its own and expands when I’m not looking and when I least expect it. It’s a very naughty capsule wardrobe.

Stravaig · 06/07/2023 09:42

'It’s a very naughty capsule wardrobe.' 😍🤣 @Noodle421

BettinaInDenmark · 06/07/2023 10:01

@Noodle421 Yes, I think you are right - to ignore is a good strategy, because when peeking just a little bit, there is always something to fall in love with.

I started buying from Boden around when my daughter (born 1999) was a couple of years old; working long hours and trying to also have a life besides work meant less time for shopping, so I started buying all mine and her clothes online from Boden - even some for her dad sometimes. But I think I'm "Boden'ed out" nowadays; still have 3 giant boxes from them that are left rather un-unpacked in the basement. And Toast is much lovelier and better quality! So I am able to mostly ignore Boden emails, and those from Seasalt also, but it will take a long while until I'm done with Toast I think, if ever.
I have a lot of Toast items that have never been worn, but which seemed a good idea at the time. I know they will be put to use someday, as they are rather timeless, and Toast is quite good at sticking to the same colour/shade schemes year after year.
In my mind I want to be a minimalist, but there is a long way to go.

re slub cotton top, it's a mini! I bought it just before hols, it's nice but a bit see through and definitely on the small size, I got a medium and I would say it would fit a 10-12. I got the chalk colour.

OftenOrange · 06/07/2023 10:15

@Saurus72 @ilovecherries Admiring your Toast dresses from previous collections . I have the little blouse in the same fabric @Saurus72 , such a fine light fabric and the block print has an Art Deco look .
@ilovecherries I’m in awe of your dressmaker, she is obviously excellent at her job and I love her philosophy of longevity and of tracing a garment’s journey. Well worth taking the odd brusque word , the only dressmaker I tried here wasn’t very neat.
@Laska2Meryls Adding to Oatcheck love , looks brilliant.
I’m also tempted , but Toast checks are divisive on me .Returned Oat check jumpsuit mainly for the fit, but the colours didn’t suit me either , although navy and orange are my go to colours, whereas Stack check ( greys ) was fine , though returned for sizing problem.

dudsville · 06/07/2023 10:16

I have a similar dilemma with my collection of hot weather destination dresses. They were just my summer dresses for here too, but now that I have all the toast dresses I just don't choose them. I've removed them from my wardrobe for now, and although I often get rid of things I do still really like them so don't want to part with them. I imagine they'l be stored alongside my lovely collection of good cord fitted trousers that I'm also unable to move on to a new home! I don't see myself going back to these more fitted things, but you never know.

My wardrobe is full. I've even decided no to keep the blue yolk fair isle as I have so many nice jumpers. The thing I can't seem to really grasp is the position of really liking a thing without having to personally own it. For example, it's a great deal, a lovely jumper, fits nicely, would be a pleasure to wear.... but all my things are.

OftenOrange · 06/07/2023 10:18

I tried the blue version of that Apricot drawstring linen dress yesterday , it was great front view but side on I found the lack of gathers at the back looked flat and odd. However it would be more useful than the yellow Bryan scenery which I bought , so pondering today .

dudsville · 06/07/2023 10:19

Nice dress @Saurus72 , and hope you're having a great holiday! All my deliveries are via RM, so I'd be comfortable making a purchase knowing that they'll just keep it if I'm not in. Who does your deliveries?

Snowyowl78 · 06/07/2023 10:24

@Trinitybean thank you! He gave me the measurements on the chat but I’m not sure that’s helping me much. Sounds like I might need the L!!

Trinitybean · 06/07/2023 10:26

Of course @Snowyowl78 no two items the same! I was surprised how tiny it was though. Clarins suncream is brilliant.

Snowyowl78 · 06/07/2023 10:31

@Trinitybean really is it that tiny!!! I’m considering the XL now haha

ilovecherries · 06/07/2023 10:57

Top to toe toast today AND as I’m going to Edinburgh for a meeting if I can ditch the client I’ll be in the Toast shop like a rat up a drain 😂. It’s a rare treat for me to get to see them irl.

Anyway, Andy Pandy trousers (which I oddly adore) in an 8. I can still pull them up and down with only top button undone but the 10s came off without any assistance other than gravity. Round collared shirt was from vinted and around £2.50. Postage cost more than the garment. Tank was NWT from eBay.

Lovely summer ensemble @ilovecherries ! I love those trousers. I was in them yesterday and i had rainbow striped (ahem) pants on underneath, so my thought wasn't so much andy pandy but more Mork from Ork, but i still love them.

OftenOrange · 06/07/2023 12:32

@dudsville So true , if I like something and it suits me I feel that I have to own it irrespective of need/ gaps in the wardrobe .
@ilovecherries Gorgeous , on trend outfit and it’s amazing to me that you found such nice items on EBay . The trousers are so chic.

faustina · 06/07/2023 12:52

@ilovecherries - your trousers look amazing. Fingers crossed you make it into the Toast shop and don't forget to report back here.

My final order arrived and:

the cotton linen tapered workwear trousers n breen are quite dark so they're going back

the side tab cotton linen trousers in shell are so so lovely! I am going to hang on to see if a 6 comes back into stock because the 8 is quite big, but if it doesn't I will be very tempted to keep the 8

Finally - new sizing once again my arse! I can't remember the exact number of things I've tried on in the past few weeks, but only two of them have been smaller than usual

MiracleToast · 06/07/2023 13:10

Hmm, where are these final reductions then?

Countmeout · 06/07/2023 13:18

The frilled neck shirt that is open at the front is down again so have jumped to try that. Can’t see much else

Snowyowl78 · 06/07/2023 13:22

There’s some more reductions on now

Stravaig · 06/07/2023 13:44

The Landscape check dress that's getting so much love ... an XL has just appeared on eBay, NWT. Not mine, I should add!

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 06/07/2023 13:54

They’ve reduced the drawstring collar tunic dress even further, I’ve reordered yet again as the one I got this week has an annoying bit on one cuff which won’t lay flat. Hopefully this will be it for me.

Brillenbar47 · 06/07/2023 14:01

There are a few good additional reductions on things I am keeping - the drawstring waist dress, ticking stripe shirt, sailor shirt and canvas work wear trousers - £80 in total over those items

Brillenbar47 · 06/07/2023 14:07

The colour block dress is also reduced again - if I had access to a great tailor I would rebuy and spend the difference on tialoring! Such a lovely and unusual dress, apart from the waist
