I love vinted

I have a laura ashley jacket I absolutely love. Burgundy tweed, fitted, slightly puffy sleeves. I got it maybe 15 years ago and I have worn and worn and worn it.

It's lost the odd button, the velvet collar has worn bare in places, the elbows are knackered. And, as is the way of these things, I am no longer the size 10 I was when I bought it.

I loved that jacket.

I've just been on vinted and found that jacket - my jacket! - in a 12 and a 14. In good/excellent condition. Bought them both, less than £30 delivered. Will keep the one that fits best and charity shop the other. Plus a grey one very similar.

I could not be happier.

There is no point to this post, but wanted to share with people who will get it.

I get it! I had a denim jacket that I absolutely loved. Took me ages to find and I wore it so much. I lost it on holiday. Found the exact same one on vinted for £5! So so happy. Enjoy the jacket!!

Motorina · 02/07/2023 10:27

@thinandsparse that's brilliant to hear! Enjoy your jacket :)

I love Vinted too. I had a picture in my head of a type of dress I wanted - found one on there and bought it. Got compliments all day on it! Didn’t recognise the label so googled it as clearly should buy more from this chic little brand. It turns out to be from Edinburgh Woollen Mill! I would never in a million years shop there but this is a great quality, well-made, flattering dress so it just goes to show.

Takenoprisoner · 02/07/2023 10:32

Saw a woman on the tube with a beautiful black bag with gold chain straps, the bag had velvet spots on it and I thought would be ridiculously ££. Decided to ask her where it was from. She said Zara, and I'd been on the hunt ever since. Tracked down a brand new one just last week!

Holly03 · 02/07/2023 10:32

I absolutely love to shop on there and rarely shop in stores now. So many people have items brand new with tags or hardly worn that I’ve replaced my whole wardrobe on there. It’s also a great place to sell as it’s very quick and easy. My only problem is inpost as it’s a nightmare for delivery at the moment (taking up to three weeks). My children have so many designer clothes off there that would have cost me a fortune to buy in the shops. Makes it so much easier for those teens who love the labels. I’ve also got toys on there that can’t be bought anymore but are still on the television, which have always been perfectly packaged. I honestly can’t believe how cheap it is in comparison to the likes of eBay

Holly03 · 02/07/2023 10:33

I also found curtains as I’ve just moved house and got a brand new next curtain set for my son for 10.00 that were brand new in packaging for 65.00

I've just taken delivery of a pair of sunglasses identical to my favourite pair, which I left in a taxi earlier in the year (ADHD tax strikes again 🙄).

£15 and good as new (the originals were £120 6 years ago). I'm delighted!

Smittenkitchen · 02/07/2023 10:43

I also love it! I'm in Europe and buying on eBay became untenable for me since Brexit with all the import charges. (Buying things coming from the UK, I mean). But I still wanted UK brands like Boden. It seems that they have Boden in France so I'm able to buy things from there on Vinted with no extra charges, very happy! Agree that there's lots of brand new stuff at good prices. The only issue I have sometimes is some people's interpretation of "Very good" condition is not always the same as mine.. But I've got loads of great things from there, especially children's clothes, I don't want to buy new anymore!

Smittenkitchen · 02/07/2023 10:43

Also agree that selling on there is very quick and easy!

escript · 02/07/2023 10:49

I found a beautiful handbag on there recently.

I'm done with eBay as a buyer or seller. It's overpriced by comparison and delivery is less likely to be tracked and takes ages.

Motorina · 02/07/2023 10:58

Fab stories, all of them :)

@Holly03 my two happiness jackets are shipping by inpost - no other option. Fingers crossed!

On the flip side, another jacket put up two years ago for £25. I dropped the seller a message to see if it was still available (because two years ago) and say if she halved the price then I'd buy.

Dropped to £22.

If it hasn't sold in two years at £25, then it's not going to for £22. Ahhh well.

Keep it in your favourites and you will be notified when the price drops as they tend to drop the price throughout the month

anxiousatnight · 02/07/2023 11:14

If the size 12 fits, I'd keep the 14 for future growing into (if like me you are gradually upsizing as you get older!)

PortiaWithNoBreaks · 02/07/2023 11:42

I Iove Vinted too.

It’s been great for Christmas jumpers for work (school) as they’re not something I’d otherwise buy or wear. A Hush blouse in fab condition for £5. I get all my sports t shirts on there as I like a male fit, loose size medium and I never pay more than £5. I’ve got about 4 Levi’s T-shirts all in good condition and only about £5 each.

It sounds really nice the burgundy tweed.

thatsnotmyna · 02/07/2023 12:24

I'm wearing my Superga trainers that I paid £4.50 for plus a couple of quid postage. They were almost immaculate. Cost £65 new and still on website!

itsmylife7 · 02/07/2023 12:37

People keep saying how easy it out to use BUT I've tried it and it's too confusing.

What am I doing
wrong ?
How do you browse if you're not looking for anything in particular?

And how do you know the price of postage before you buy ?

Maybe it's just me 🤔

Cyclingmummy1 · 02/07/2023 13:19

I love it too.

I put two pairs of men's shorts on last night, almost new, DH didn't like them, sold by 9am. Ok, it's only 11 quid, but they were lying on a shelf in the wardrobe.

Trez1510 · 02/07/2023 13:26

I've had some real finds on Vinted.

I've also bought a coat where the seller stated 'worn once'.

Unless she wore it for 12 weeks straight 24/7, she lied. 🙄

It was filthy and smelled of BO. Straight into the bin, whilst I retched.

Otherwise, all is good. 👍

Summerhillsquare · 02/07/2023 13:31

You can send things back too if not as described. I've had that afew times.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 02/07/2023 14:45

I absolutely love Vinted too, and like you, I have just replaced a much loved top for £5 BNWT
and a only worn once pair of Levi's 501 in my 28 leg which is hard to find for £18 and I'm happy to pay the postage as it saves me a fruitless wander around the shops

Motorina · 02/07/2023 14:56

@itsmylife7 I don't find it user friendly for browsing. I either use it to find duplicates of something I already have, but in a larger size. So filter by colour, size, brand. Or where I have a very clear idea of what I want. For example, I knew I wanted a pair of cream wide-legged jeans. Once I put all the filters in, it became manageable. But for browsing like you might in a charity shop? Nope.

For general browsing I start with a general search e.g black dress / filter by my size / any preferred brands / condition of NWT, NWOT, very good

Postage + buyer protection fee I generally add £4 onto the asking price

Hope this helps and happy browsing!
