I love vinted

I have a laura ashley jacket I absolutely love. Burgundy tweed, fitted, slightly puffy sleeves. I got it maybe 15 years ago and I have worn and worn and worn it.

It's lost the odd button, the velvet collar has worn bare in places, the elbows are knackered. And, as is the way of these things, I am no longer the size 10 I was when I bought it.

I loved that jacket.

I've just been on vinted and found that jacket - my jacket! - in a 12 and a 14. In good/excellent condition. Bought them both, less than £30 delivered. Will keep the one that fits best and charity shop the other. Plus a grey one very similar.

I could not be happier.

There is no point to this post, but wanted to share with people who will get it.

It came! It fits like it was made for me! I love it! I am so happy!

Excellent!

I love it for finding things I already own in different colourways- we have a v small New Look near us, and they did a jumpsuit a couple of years ago that works perfectly for me. I had a feeling they did it in other patterns (but couldn't be arsed trawling their massive website)... quick whizz round Vinted and i now have a couple more in different colours for £16!

It's perfect for replacing/adding to things you know work for you.

I've avoided it for ages because I don't want to get addicted to it, but then I remembered DD's denim jacket.

We got it from Asda about 3 years ago and she LOVED it. It was light blue with some pink sequins on the pockets. She wore it all the time but outgrew it. Then last year we were on holiday and saw the exact same jacket in a charity shop window, in the right size and everything. The shop was closed but we decided to go back in the morning and get it for her. We got there 15mins after it opened and the jacket was gone. DD (8 at the time) was heartbroken - she has sensory issues with clothes and no other denim jacket we've tried has ever felt "right".

Last night I wondered whether I could find it on Vinted and it came up straight away! So I bought it, my first purchase. She's going to be so happy when it arrives. Now to look for DS's favourite jumper...

@CoodleMoodle what a brilliant story. I’m so pleased for you and your daughter.

I love it but I have had some real disasters so had a break for a bit. Now I'm just really discerning about what I buy, seems to be great for things like brand new kids shoes and accessories.

I strongly agree with this! It's great for finding things that you know will work for you.

Otherwise it can be a bit hit and miss and some purchases have definately been a waste of money. If you end up with too many useless purchases it can be more expensive than buying new. Even reselling is tricky since you are already out of pocket by the postage and fees so you might not get much back.

I also find that most people are too optimistic about the condition. Had several things described as good or very good that for me would have only been fit for giving away. My other main issue, especially when it comes to childrens clothes is that most items sell for similar or less than the postage so you end up spending more on postage and fees than on the actual items. Everyone talks about buying bundles of clothes but it's hard to find a bundle of stuff I like and time consuming to try to find a seller with multiple items for sale that I'm interested in.

I find it's hit and miss with you who you buy/sell with.

The sizing description isn't great. Sometimes sellers put it as S/8 or M/10 and then when I look at the item, it's often bigger/smaller. Very annoying.

I've also noticed when asking for measurements, the seller often ups the price of the item. So in the end I don't buy.

The buyer protection fee annoys me too. Because the item isn't actually £5, it's £5.90 or something.

I've had to return a few items, which sellers often accept. But the postage costs gets deducted when you get the refund.

I've also had some items arrived damaged. Vinted paid me compensation and said I could keep the item. The seller requested I returned it, but I said Vinted told me I could keep it. The seller quickly sent me an Evri label and requested I send it back. Which I did, as I felt it was unfair on the seller.

I enjoy buying/selling and do prefer it to eBay. Especially as the price it sells for is the amount you receive. Unlike eBay where you get pennies!!!

Cyclingmummy1 · 07/07/2023 13:16

I try to be a good seller and am very realistic about pricing and flaws which is reflected in my feedback.

The suggested descriptors are generous, shall we say. I would say something is satisfactory but according to vinted it's very good.

And I agree that the sizing is a bit odd. I put a dress on as M and someone messaged me to say it was a 12 not a 10 and so it was misleading. I'm currently wearing a pair of size 10 crops from M&S and I can't get the dress fastened so it's definitely not a 12 in current sizing 😆

This is my thread from last Xmas, I hadn't discovered Vinted but an amazing MNer found my son's favourite t-shirt on there for me, and I'm now a Vinted addict.

He is now in receipt of the t-shirt and is absolutely thrilled beyond thrilled. It's still a bit on the big side, but he'll grow.

Please sell me this kids’ Gap T-shirt, it’s a favourite | Mumsnet

Hi All My 12yo has loved this T-shirt and pretty much lives in it. It is so well-loved it’s become faded and worn. I’ve been trawling eBay but no joy...

RobertJohnsonsShoes · 07/07/2023 13:32

I wouldn't say I love it but you can get warehouse clothes from around 3/4 years ago from before the shoes were crap. That makes me happy.

L1R876 · 07/07/2023 18:08

My other hate is when you ask about the sizing and then they say "someone else is interested so buy quickly" but the item is still for sale days/weeks later.

Bejazzled · 07/07/2023 19:12

I buy and sell. I’m more careful/picky when buying after being caught out a few times and I take photos of measurements and care labels when selling.

ZeroFucksGivenToday · 07/07/2023 19:22

I love it. My DD (10) even more so.

Im wearing a pair or Carvela boots this week that I got from Vinted. I agree the description is a bit optimistic. They said like new, whereas I'd have said good. But I paid £3 (plus postage) and I have new very comfortable work boots.

My DD loves river island and hype. It's swimming in it. She's got so many clothes from there now. And I resell her small river island/next/gap on there too. So it all works around.
