Jumpsuit at work?

Does anymore wear jumpsuits for work?

I walk around London as part of my commute and don't think I've ever seen anyone wearing a jumpsuit. I'm tempted by this one: https://www.yumi.co.uk/yumi-navy-linen-button-through-jumpsuit-p12602/s69069?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=yumi-navy-linen-button-through-jumpsuit-colour-navy-size-12-colour-navy-size-12-ym2837b027-d&utm_campaign=product%2Blisting%2Bads&cid=GBP&glCurrency=GBP&glCountry=GB&gclid=Cj0KCQjwy9-kBhCHARIsAHpBjHgvU6c5jvRc7wMy3s3vlp_s-GQtKMmo44Hcydk8oiIcB30Z_SZcF0saAkuoEALw_wcB

Would it be weird?

I work in the city but for a tech company where anything goes, but definitely more on the casual side. Thoughts?

I like it

Jumpsuitlove · 25/06/2023 21:40

Maybe this one is more work appropriate, but so much more expensive!

I work for a tech company (Although not London based) and often wear jump suits to work.

Gherkingreen · 25/06/2023 21:55

I have a black Warehouse cropped leg belted jumpsuit that I wear to work when not WFH. I wear it with smart trainers or brogues.
As long as you're confident you can teach the zip solo (or have a co-worker willing to assist!) they're perfect office wear 😀

Oblomov23 · 25/06/2023 21:56

The yumi one is totally inappropriate for work.

Oblomov23 · 25/06/2023 21:57

The second one is lovely.

Meredusoleil · 25/06/2023 21:58

I love them all and think they are fine for work.

silverfullmoon · 25/06/2023 21:59

I do all the time. They’re no different to a top and trousers so not sure why you couldn’t do so

BluebellBlueballs · 25/06/2023 22:01

I've just bought a new jumpsuit for work, its a black linen one , think like a shirt dress but with trousers instead of a skirt.

Can't wait to wear it!

Jumpsuitlove · 25/06/2023 22:03

Maybe I'll go for this as an inbetween: https://www.yumi.co.uk/yumi-black-button-up-linen-jumpsuit-p12148

I love the second one but I can't justify the cost. And I love the first one as I'd probably wear it at home too so would get lots of use out of it, but I might feel self conscious with the strap situation.

But I love the idea of just throwing it on and not having to worry about matching tops and bottoms, as I'm clueless about fashion!

I love a jumpsuit for work. Not your first one - too casual, but I like the second one.

Jumbojade · 25/06/2023 23:45

I really like the one Bluebell has bought and it is very reasonably priced too. Would definitely go with that one, if I wasn’t too old and fat, if I was choosing a jumpsuit.

Oblomov23 · 25/06/2023 21:56

The yumi one is totally inappropriate for work.

Your work, maybe. Perfectly acceptable for mine (major bank in the tech arm).

MykonosMaiden · 25/06/2023 23:48

I do, very occasionally.
The problem isn't the jumpsuit it's having to take the whole thing off in work toilets. Unless they've finally made ones with crotch zippers??

MykonosMaiden · 25/06/2023 23:50

https://www.johnlewis.com/ted-baker-piiper-wrap-floral-jumpsuit-red/p4083268

Mine is like that, structured and I wear it with a blazer

cocksstrideintheevening · 25/06/2023 23:52

I do, I have a couple of cropped ones that I wear, jersey material but they have cap sleeves. They also don't have a zip which helps with the toilet situation.

I wouldn't wear the one you linked but depends on your work dress code / environment

You could wear that in my office as long as (a) you put a shirt or t-shirt under it and (b) you never see clients.

Seddon · 26/06/2023 02:26

I'd get a trusted friend to check the rear view for you in anything jersey or thin/clingy fabric!

I find front fastening v back fastening makes a massive difference.

There's a special place in hell reserved for designers of back fastening jumpsuits.

Riv · 26/06/2023 08:54

I think they look great.
Appropriate depends entirely on your work dress code. We wouldn't get away with the strappy shoulders, but a t-shirt under it would solve that. The ones that cover your shoulders would be fine.
Practical, well.... How long do you allow for a toilet break? I couldn't be faffed, and certainly don't have enough time to deal with it.

whatthebejesus · 26/06/2023 08:55

God yea! Love me a jumpsuit. I wear them all the time

Wiseflower · 26/06/2023 09:04

Jumpsuits now are more fashionable now than ever and so many styles that suit all shapes, and worn anywhere . Definitely not "weird" for work.

Many are practical, easy to slip off the shoulder in toilet break.
In the past, jumpsuits were a bit weird...the fashion industry has moved on and upwards.
