Hi all,

I have an array of jeans and beautiful tops but it feels too warm so looking for alternatives to my jeans. What are you all wearing?

I wear longer skirts and dresses.

I’ve never had chub rub issues even when I was a size 14, I think I’m just not built that way!

Beachlovingirl · 10/06/2023 08:54

I am wearing my hush mom jeans (which are big on me so nice and loose) and a strapless top tucked in. Also jigsaw denim shorts - smart enough for the office but casual enough not to look I’m always off to work.

also got a couple of very cheap cotton sundresses from h and m and love these.

CatfoodOzymandias · 10/06/2023 08:54

I am pretty close to kaftan @Blip because I have to take the Tube which is a nightmare in summer!

My other suggestion for summer dresses: Uniqlo tshirt dresses. Not floral as is the trend but cool, wash well and good quality cotton. They do different models every year.

JessieEssex · 10/06/2023 08:55

I have three pairs of these - www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.0971104005.html
Lovely and cool and comfortable - wearing a pair right now!

BroomHandledMouser · 10/06/2023 08:56

I’m wearing these…

They came yesterday and fit lovely. Plus they make my size 16 thighs look ever so slightly smaller 😁

nine9nein · 10/06/2023 08:58

Lawn cotton Salwar kameez 😍

CatsOnTheChair · 10/06/2023 09:01

It maxed out at 16C yesterday.
I had my black trousers and a jumper on for work.
Today is supposed to be much warmer, bit it's not looking like that right now, so probably jeans and a teeshirt. With a jumper if needed.

Lawn cotton Salwar kameez 😍

Those are actually the best thing to wear. Mulmul cotton even better! Except for the ironing.

Those magic pants don't even look good on the models in that link...

They are truly hideous, skinny joggers anyone?

Rina66 · 10/06/2023 09:07

Magic trousers rolled up
Magic shorts (mid thigh) - can't recommend these highly enough, so so flattering
Palazzo trousers in a deep shirred waistband
Loose harem jumpsuits
Cheesecloth loose shorts

Wiennetta · 10/06/2023 09:09

Jeans and a jumper all week for me here in Scotland 😂 It says highs of 22 today and I’m out all day and want to dress up a bit so wearing a maxi dress and a faux leather jacket.

It’s actually pretty nice, you can wear summery dresses and lighter trousers although you’d need to take a jumper or jacket with you, but it’s not so hot it’s uncomfortable or you’re limited on what you can wear. Don’t miss London 30+ summers.

Blastandbollocks · 10/06/2023 09:10

@Hairbrushhandle where are you finding these mythical maxi skirts for shorter people? I'm struggling! I'm 5ft2" and everything seems to be for giants.

Bonus points if you can accommodate larger sizes and if they could be work wear!

DustyLee123 · 10/06/2023 09:11

Next 3/4 leggings. Nice and thin, unfortunately that means you can see my cellulite, but I don’t care as long as I’m cool.

XiCi · 10/06/2023 09:14

I've mostly been wearing dresses the last couple of weeks, either mini or maxi but in terms of separates I also have:
Black linen wide leg trousers
Denim shorts
Maxi skirts
Cargo pants
Silk printed wide leg trousers
Harems

Kiwano · 10/06/2023 09:15

Cotton skirts, no tights.

dontgobaconmyheart · 10/06/2023 09:15

I know it warming up but to me it's not what I'd describe as hot yet - I'm most often in ankle length jeans, linen peg leg type trousers or wide leg culottes and will wear something cooler on top if I'm feeling the heat.

So far the only co cession I've made to the weather is switching to sandals and sunglasses.

I think chub rub might be down to walking style. I've had it at a plump 14 and whenI was a willowy size 8. I just seem to have rubby thighs! The thin shorts are great for it though.

Fridaysgirl17 · 10/06/2023 09:23

Cropped jeans, leggings with a t-shirt,harem pants now& again,I have ordered a lovely midi dress though it's cooling off here in Ireland. I'd love to wear shorts etc but I have sun sensitive scars on my legs due to a childhood accident so it can be difficult to keep cool & cover them but I've been pretty comfortable this time around

Ginola2345 · 10/06/2023 09:25

linen trousers, skirts and occasionally braving a dress and wearing cut off/culotte type around my house and garden

Onthegrid · 10/06/2023 09:27

I'm plus size but OK on height. If I am at home or somewhere appropriate (theme park, beach, holiday) I wear knee length shorts, they are lightweight and tailored so look OK. I then have the same style but as mid calf length, plus some looser fit pairs also mid calf that I wear for smarter occasions (work, shopping) where I will be seen!
Always paired with a cool top.
Dresses don't work for me, they hang of my boobs and make me look dumpy. I only wear one as a pool cover up.
Skirts just hang wrong and then I have to bother with chub rub shorts.

Hogsmeadpiglet · 10/06/2023 09:30

I found out some white linen cropped trousers recently. I’ve had them for 13 years. They are a loose fit on the leg which seems to be popular at the moment.

Igneococcus · 10/06/2023 09:36

Wide leg culottes from nobody's child

I have them in three different prints and have been asked by people in the street where I got them from. They are probably the most comfortable summer clothes items I own.

Missingthegore · 10/06/2023 09:41

Wide leg linen trousers to work or culottes
Linen shorts outside of work
Chub rub shorts under cotton dresses or skirts

continentallentil · 10/06/2023 09:44

Slim chinos

I love a wide linen trouser, but sadly I am short and fat and they make me look like a mobile bag of laundry.

jeans with Lyocell are cooler if that helps, M n S do some
