I came on to post about the tennis video - she looked wonderful in the tennis whites (and she is so athletic).

It must have been a big shock for her but, it sounds like she's doing well thankfully! I don't think Bea and Edo would be partying at Glasto if she wasn't. Must admit I was a bit surprised that she didn't turn up at Ascot and this probably explains why - I'm sure she'll be there next year.

Maireas · 25/06/2023 20:33

Ah, poor Sarah - I'm glad she's doing ok.

It's alarmingly common. So as Sarah says get checked out. When I had a scare so fast tracked met an 84 year old lady whose GP had put her forward. It was cancer.

justasking111 · 26/06/2023 12:19

Back to frocks. I love buying them but rarely wear them. So this year said right whenever it's hot it's a dress for me. BUT you need different bras, thin straps, underwire. I usually wear boulder holders or sports type bras. Ladies they don't work with frocks.

It's lovely and cool with a little top over the bingo wings.

BUT Knickers, you know the old faithful ones under your trousers. Well mine just won't do. The knicker elastic or something means I'm hitching them up. Had this problem shopping earlier. I'm thinking it's either a thong 🙈 or cami knickers 🤣🤣

Maireas · 26/06/2023 12:22

You can wear firm support bras with dresses, @justasking111 ? Is it because you're wearing off the shoulder or sundresses with thin straps?

OP posts:
Maireas · 26/06/2023 12:23

As for your other problem, one word: Sloggi

It's the neckline, and cleavage. Honestly I put a dress on and can see bra cups and straps as wide as seat belts. 🤣

Maireas · 26/06/2023 12:31

The dress is see through. Can you find some that are more opaque? Mine are all cotton and you can't tell what type of reinforcement is going on underneath! Seriously, your dresses are too thin. You could get a full length cotton slip, or one of those Cool comfort ones from M&S?

Thanks I'll have a look at sloggi.

Apart from the knicker problem it's really nice wearing a dress in this heat.

My DILs almost always wear dresses, they looks so lovely. I'm struggling a bit with the trainers, sneakers look but am getting used to it 🤣🤣

Maireas · 26/06/2023 12:37

Dresses are great in the heat, you just have to find a shape that suits you. Seriously look at Cool comfort slips, or pure cotton if it's very hot. I have some cotton dresses fully lined in cotton from Wolf and Badger, which are a dream. I'm not allowed to wear trainers to work, so it's Ecco sandals of Pretty Ballerinas flats.

OP posts:
Maireas · 26/06/2023 12:38

or Pretty Ballerinas, that should read

No none are thin but either cut away at the neck or shoulder. I've solved that problem with underwire bras.

I've bought two more petticoats. It's my knicker elastic. My granny knickers slide down to bikini brief level. 🤭

I’ll give you three guesses what I am wearing today Maireas (not working)

I think you’ll only need one guess….

All underpinnings comfy (and large) and almost undetectable.

A tiara @ArcaneWireless ??

ArcaneWireless · 26/06/2023 16:13

Only on a Wednesday cherub 😉

I am chin deep in kaftan. As usual.

Hint of Margo. Great hoofing waft of Beverly. Lurking sinister presence of nan.

Maireas · 26/06/2023 16:15

I knew it would be a kaftan! 😀
Is it purple? Are you wearing crocs?
May you relax and waft in comfort 👍

justasking111 · 26/06/2023 17:44

Kaftans are a glorious garment 💓

ArcaneWireless · 26/06/2023 19:06

Not purple today. Bit regal looking for a Monday!

Today is a lovely tealy blue. Think Mediterranean Sea. Cyprus. Tiny cove. Cliff jumping. Exhilaration. See the bottom kind of blue.

That. (How I miss my old lives)

Crocs outside for watering the birds. Clashing pinkypurple threadbare but lovely and comfy totes ballet slippers for inside.

Hair like Barbara from the Royle family. (But frizzier)

Face like Les Dawson’s Ada.

Smell? Sunshine, bit of cooking and dog.

You can all picture me. Admit it. 😊

ArcaneWireless · 26/06/2023 19:07

Everyone should have a kaftan 💕
or 20

Maireas · 26/06/2023 19:17

We can picture it, @ArcaneWireless you paint it well - although I suspect facially not quite Ada!
Your kaftan sounds gorgeous, I love that teal blue 💙

All I need is a podcast 😁 😉
