I do find the multiple near-identical outfits a bit much, particularly when they are also very expensive. I mean, I get she's the PoW, so she has a hell of a lot of pressure to look good, but is anyone going to be offended if she wears her green Mcqueen coat a couple more times rather than also getting a couple of Emilia Wickstead ones, also made to measure and virtually indistinguishable? It's just a bit tone deaf to me, especially at the moment.

Zara, Sophie and Camilla

Sophie and Camilla look nice, Zara leaves me cold as usual.

She and William have the Duchy of Cornwall now, haven't they? So I guess her clothes budget has increased considerably! Still, why spend it on a dress almost identical to one she's already got and has only worn once?

Tippingadvice · 21/06/2023 15:12

I know the POW goes for outfits in similar styles but it must be difficult to find so many different styles of outfits that suit her, are appropriate for the occasion, get constantly compared to Diana and Meghan, that she can’t wear more than a handful of times etc.

hopeishere · 21/06/2023 16:28

I think Zara looks great today. Much less fussy than normal and a super hat!

I've been seeing stuff on insta about Kates repeats. It is odd / off but I get the feeling she's not "into" fashion so when she gets something she likes she sticks to it!

For the Irish on the thread - a good title for the photo that MotherofPearl posted of the the 2 Queens chatting would be "Dúirt bean liom go ndúirt bean léi."

The 2 are having a gossip.

eggandonion · 21/06/2023 16:58

Kate loves a peplum as do I. Sadly I don't have the figure necessary.
I wonder who they are discussing...

or ‘Aithníonn ciaróg ciaróg eile’ (birds of a feather flock together is one interpretation)

Slightly less formal in Belgium tonight. No tiaras!

I love Max’s golden yellow dress, she looks amazing 🤩

Thereoughttobeclowns · 21/06/2023 20:44

I thought Zara looked much better today - love the navy and green. Shocked at 'Mrs Michael Tindall' on her badge. What year is it? Embarrassing.

Sophie looked like she'd tucked in her napkin around her neck at lunch and forgotten about it.

A few more photos from Ascot.

I think both Mathilde and Max look fabulous there!

A few more photos from Ascot.

Zara's dress looks better there than it did in the carriage photos. Sophie might like to borrow it later as it's very much in her wheelhouse!

CaveMum · 21/06/2023 22:20

@Thereoughttobeclowns sadly the Royal Enclosure is still like that when it comes to the name badges. As I went on my own previously my badge has my own name in it, but if I’d gone with DH I’d have been listed as Mrs “DH”.

justasking111 · 21/06/2023 22:22

Is it me or do European royals hob nob together more than British royals do.

ChicoryDip · 21/06/2023 22:39

According to the Royal Watcher Blog Queen Mathilde has worn all three of her Tiaras (the Nine Provinces as a Tiara, and the Wolfers and Laurel Wreath as Necklaces) for the Dutch State Visit.

That's the way to go. Royals please take note!

I was just wondering if the Euro Royals were all mates. Our lot don't look a lot of fun 🤣

CliffsofMohair · 21/06/2023 23:45

I’d say there’s a Scandi/Dutch royal WhatsApp group

Eaumyword · 22/06/2023 06:24

Max looks fab in that gold one gown and agree, Zara's blue dress looks much nicer than the top bit only.
Not sure about the puffy sleeves though, reminds me of Laura Ashley from the 80's (although know puff sleeves are having a moment!)

gluenotsoup · 22/06/2023 08:47

Wouldn’t you just love to be on the Royal WhatsApp groups and find out what they really get up to and think? Part of me thinks it would be fascinating and a whole new world, and another part thinks it would be the same humdrum as everyone else but with a tiara on.

The Windsors are known to be close to the Spanish and former Greek royals (holidayed together in the 1980s etc) and given the link between Queen Anne Marie and the Danish Royals I presume that relationship was also strong. Certainly Queen Margrethe has spoken about often visiting QEII at Windsor. They are actually most closely related to the Norwegians.

I suspect there’s a fair bit of informal contact out of the public gaze

CaveMum · 22/06/2023 12:11

Today’s carriage list

Sir Mark Prescott is a racehorse trainer (and a great raconteur!)

HH Sheikh Hamad bin Abdullah Al Thani is a Qatari prince who has invested huge amounts in British racing via his Qipco Holdings sponsorship deals and owns a large string of racehorses under his Qatar Racing banner (he’s also a bit of a shit having left his American wife and their young children without a word a few years ago)

In the final carriage are trainer John Gosden and his wife, who will be FUMING at being listed as “Mrs John Gosden” as she is known as “Ms Rachel Hood” everywhere she goes!
Also in the carriage is John Warren, the King’s racing advisor and his wife Lady Carolyn, daughter of the late Earl of Carnarvon/Lord Porchester who was a close friend of the late Queen.
