I really can't justify paying to get "my colours done", but am really interested! If I post something pics can anyone help give me some pointers??

I think it is only £35 for an analysis with Emily at Style Me Happy. She's very approachable and reliable I was really pleased with my analysis after trying unsuccessfully to guess via the colour me beautiful book. I tried some apps too and found it very easy to get inconsistent results and to manipulate the results.

Often the online advice is poor for women of colour and some analysts seem to really struggle with seeing warmth/coolness in women of colour.

I would recommend a look at Emily's Facebook page and the group. I would also suggest that you take a look at the concept wardrobe as they have some really useful articles on understanding analysis, the 12 season model and the common mistakes and misunderstandings (I was confused about tanning), I have linked their article on the issues of analysing different races.

Interesting! Quite varied responses. I know what you mean by drape some fabric and see what suits, but I honestly can't tell what suits and what doesn't??

I've found some pics with what looks (to me!) like "warmer" colours...

(And forgive the fact that clearly I can't have a nice photo taken 🤣)

@JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon ooh I'm going to look at that now, thank you!

Honestly OP if you can save up / ask for vouchers as a birthday gift, splash out I would really strongly recommend a professional colour consultation. As demonstrated by the varied responses on here it's really hard to identify unless you're an expert. I was dubious, but I paid £150 to have mine come and it's changed my life! Honestly I'm not exaggerating - it's really made it clear what colours make me look alive, including make up, lipstick, eyes, hair etc As well as clothes and now I feel so much nicer every morning, even just in my workout gear as I can see the difference. My husband didn't know I'd been to the appointment and he commented I was looking really good recently and I know it's because I've taken out the highlights in my hair which didn't suit me, and changed my make up etc.

I used House of Colour.

I also found this website quite helpful theconceptwardrobe.com/search?query=Colours+

@varsitychic thank you. I've just paid £35 to Emily from House of Style, so let's see what she comes up with!

Porridgeislife · 02/06/2023 12:30

Season colours are basically split into cool bright, cool muted, warm bright, warm muted groups.

Do you suit gold or silver jewellery better? That should decide if you are warm (gold) or cool (silver). Once that’s decided you need to figure out if bright or muted tones suit you better - I think bright based on your photos?

StainlessSeal · 02/06/2023 12:48

@Porridgeislife that's the problem, I can't tell what suits me?!

newdocket · 02/06/2023 14:05

You are very pretty and from the looks of it, I'd say you were a winter who would look best in jewel colours. However, it's a bit hard to say for sure on the basis of photos! A good way of telling if you are warm or cool is to look at the veins on the inside of your wrists. Do they look blue/purple (if so, cool), or greenish (warm)?

newdocket · 02/06/2023 14:06

That purple towel on your head suits you better than the pink t-shirt/cardi combo, imo!

Sunnydays0101 · 02/06/2023 19:17

I am far from a colour expert but the green zipped top looked to really suit you, as did the white t-shirt, the pink top in one of your earlier posts and the navy/white top in your most recent post. I think probably black isn’t the best colour for you?

RobinHumphries · 02/06/2023 20:10

I think you’re a dark or deep Winter

SteveBuscemisRheumyEye · 03/06/2023 12:43

Thanks everyone who's contributed, I really do appreciate it.

I'm no expert but if I had your lovely colouring I'd try this colour.

Op I think you are warm autumn or spring

SwedishEdith · 03/06/2023 13:29

The hot pink top stands out the best (it's a lovely top) and the white top next to the green door. I'm no expert but looks like clear bright colours work best for you. No idea what that translates to as "your colours".

asdfghjklqwe · 03/06/2023 14:23

The green and pink look lovely on you

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 03/06/2023 14:31

I've no clue but you're really pretty and your freckles are to die for.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 03/06/2023 15:28

I think one of the first things you do is drape something white round your neck and then cream. This will tell you whether you are cool ( white) or warm ( cream). One will make your skin look radiant, the other not so much.

By the look of how much the white top suits you, you're definitely cool toned.
The black looks like it creates shadows under your eyes, so you may not be a true winter. I don't really know enough about the specifics to say this with any confidence though!

In my opinion the mint colour washes you right out and the clearer brighter colours make your skin and eyes look wonderful.

There's loads of colour analysis accounts on insta which show people having their colours done which might be helpful?

SteveBuscemisRheumyEye · 03/06/2023 15:47

Okay! Last lot, taken just now in same light. Cream, white and black!

(I think I look the same in all of them 🫣)

@LightlySearedontheRealityGrill what was the site??

I would say winter? You have similar colouring to Meghan Markle - take a look at the colours she wears as they'd probably suit you.

Rina66 · 03/06/2023 16:03

I agree, you do have a lovely face and similar colouring to Meghan Markle but she wears lots of camel colours, I didn't think they were a Winters colours though?

SteveBuscemisRheumyEye · 03/06/2023 16:07

It's so hard 😭

I had my colours done over 35 years ago and they really struggled with me (we were a class of mature students). They did everyone, then came back to me, they settled for Sprinter (cross between a Spring and a Winter) Interestingly the colour analysts thought it was because my parents are from different countries. I've just been given a voucher to go again, so it'll be interesting to see how things have changed.
