Rosacea! Anyone found an effective treatment.

I have developed rosacea on my cheek and am wondering if anyone has found an effective treatment.

Feeling pretty fed up as already battling post menopausal weight gain & hair loss so this feels like the last straw!

I am trying Dermalax as had some good reviews on Amazon, but would love to hear if anyone has had good results with anything.

Have you tried Soolantra? Sorted mine beautifully.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 25/05/2023 21:51

Azelaic acid helps.

gegs73 · 25/05/2023 21:53

I get a gel from the GP metronidazole, it really helps to calm it down and dry it up.

Flockameanie · 25/05/2023 22:01

Rozex (metronidazole) cream from the GP helps mine, but mine was relatively mild. Mine's also calmed down massively in the past year and I think it's becuase I've now gone through menopause (i.e. no more hormonal fluctuations).

Avoiding triggers is a big one too... For me it's booze (especially red wine, or any booze on an empty stomach), heat, sometimes spicy food too.

I switched to using CeraVe hydrating cleanser and moisturiser and it's all but cured it. I use Estee lauder DW foundation, just a bit applied with a buffing brush almost like a concealer just to knock my high colour back.

QueenJulian · 25/05/2023 22:07

Soolantra at night and azelaic acid in the morning under sun screen.

QueenofLouisiana · 25/05/2023 22:07

Soolantra. I cannot stress too much what a difference this made to my skin.

QueenJulian · 25/05/2023 22:10

And I second Cerave cleanser and moisturiser too.

SpaghettiSquash · 25/05/2023 22:26

Soolantra has made an enormous difference for my DH.

Azelaic acid helps.

I've been trying this for weeks now and all it's done is dried the area. No change with my rosacea unfortunately.

This worked for me too.

RaisedOnADietofBrokenBiscuitsOh · 25/05/2023 22:38

Dermatica prescription - it keeps my rosacea under control. When I forget to use it for a while, it comes back. I have a referral code if you're interested - send me a private message.

ShandaLear · 25/05/2023 22:41

Soolantra. Takes a few weeks but it works.

Flockameanie · 25/05/2023 22:43

azelaic acid gave me dermatitis! But I third the Cerave

dylanthedragon · 25/05/2023 22:45

Soolantra worked for me as well.

I also use Dr Jarts Tiger grass colour correction cream. It covers it really well and feels soothing.

silentpool · 25/05/2023 22:48

I'm doing laser to remove the redness.

FatCatBum · 25/05/2023 22:48

Solan yea

This is interesting, I was under the impression the way to fix it was antibiotics hadron the GP?

that's what the specialist said. Unfortunately I was there for something else & he was unable to prescribe, just said to see GP.

Soolantra is relatively new. Many years ago you'd just be given Oxytetracycline but this cream has been a game changer for me and many others.

I've even dropped to just using it a couple of times a week now and it appears to be keeping it all under control (for now at least).

Fantastic, thanks so much for all the responses.

Soolantra seems to work for lots of you. Do I need to ask my GP for a prescription?

Thanks @RaisedOnADietofBrokenBiscuitsOh i will pm you.

Yes, it's on prescription. Reading the blurb it only said about it dealing with lumps bumps pustules etc but it's taken all my redness and irritated flakey skin away too. Now I only have a little bit of light pink left. I used to wake up some days and I could feel that my face with sore and tight and would know it was going to look horrendous when I looked in the mirror. Those days are completely behind me and I feel great. No more flare ups at all. Best of luck OP.

I've sent you the code.

I tried something from a private GP, didn't work. Ive just been prescribed something from skin and me. It contains metronidazole, niacinamide and azelaic acid. I'm waiting for it to be delivered, so no idea if it will work yet. Here's hoping.

Isabelle70 · 26/05/2023 02:36

I have had rosacea for 30 odd years and since started Dermatica my skin has never been better. The redness, pustules and swelling has reduced and I feel so more happier and comfortable in my skin. I did try Rozex from the doctor but I didn't like the creamy texture. Dermatica is really light texture. They have an offer at the moment £10 off and you can cancel or delay the monthly treatment at any time I have mine about every 5 weeks. Here is a code if you fancy trying it.
Try personalised skincare for just £2.90, plus £10 off your next month.

I manage mine (extremely red cheeks and nose) by drinking loads of water, I use Cetaphil face wash, avene skin soothing cream and lrp spf. It all cools my skin in all ways
