Does anyone use Vick's vapo-rub as a moisturizer?

Today my friend told me she uses Vick's vapo-rub as an all-over body moisturizer every night.

Apparently she's done this for years and was under the impression that it was pretty common.

I'm under the impression she's an absolute nutjob.

As well as it being super moisturizing, she said she likes the cold tingly feeling 😱😱

Has anyone heard of this? Does anyone do it? Or does everyone do it and I'm just out here like a fucking loser with my body lotion?

All the pots of Vicks vapour rub I have seen are small. She must be going through a hell of a lot of the stuff and smell extra minty.

A friend of mine used to swear by deep heat as an anti-cellulite cream. I didn't really see enough of her backside to confirm if it worked or not.

I used to work with someone that tipped their head right back at their desk and dripped Olbas Oil straight into their nostrils and snorted it back, to clear their sinuses several times a day, every day. Maybe they're related.

Nope, she didn't mean Vaseline. I clarified this with her.

She said she only uses a little bit. So I guess its a light coating - not too claggy and means she doesn't use too much.

I've never noticed her smelling of menthol. But she uses it at night so maybe that's why.

I'm so glad you all think this is mental. I was worried I'm missed a memo on the beauty benefits of Vick's 😅

I’ve used it on my lips when they got so dry and it’s instantly helped. It was a suggestion from my sister who does nutty stuff like your friend.

Here I thought I was being all rebellious by using Night cream during the day.

I was just so stunned and dumbfounded when she told me, that I didn't really ask anything about it. I only asked whether she meant Vaseline. She looked at me like I'd grown a penis out my eye socket and, very slowly, almost with a head-tilt, said "No, Vick's vapo-rub".

That's why I thought it was perfectly normal because she seemed so confused about my confusion.

I once read a MN thread where someone said that post-poo she always dabbed her bumhole with toothpaste. She's your friend's kindred spirit.
