It’s another sandals one

Trying to search for some chunky sandals that fit in with current trends but also don’t make me look like I’m trying to be young (only in my 40s but work with young people so I don’t want anything too like the DM flatforms that are super trendy). What do you think of these? in black

You can wear the DM sandals in your 40s without seeming like a try hard imo.

Those sandals are nice though, but I wouldn't go for them at that price being non-leather. Always go for leather. It's worth the extra.

JaneJeffer · 22/05/2023 13:19

Those ones are more wedges than chunky

JaneJeffer · 22/05/2023 13:21

The Gabor ones that came up on your link are more current looking

SimonsCow · 22/05/2023 13:50

Thanks for the responses!

Nothing Gabor is coming up on the link for me. There was a recent thread about some Gabor sandals and the outcome was not good 😆

Anyone, of any age, can wear DM flatforms without looking like they’re trying to look young. If you like them, get them!

Personally I’m less keen on the Blowfish sandals you linked, and I agree with the PP who said always go for leather.

GoldDuster · 22/05/2023 14:05

From one middle aged woman to another, step away from the Blowfish wedges.

These aren't too clunky or too middle aged

neither are these

and you can absolutely wear the flatform DMs if you want without looking try hard.

BBNoM · 22/05/2023 14:07

Both of those sandals are lovely @GoldDuster, go with them OP! You should get a few years out of them.

I like the second ones. Thank you! I do also like the first but aren’t they gladiator style isn’t that over?! I’m so terrible at knowing these things!

You can absolutely wear the dm’s, equally i like the ones posted. New look do nice sandals as do shein.

Soccermumamir · 22/05/2023 18:11

Wear what you want! Age should not be a barrier. I love DMs and I'm 39 👍

LaCerbiatta · 22/05/2023 20:22

Also have these, really nice on and good quality but a bit narrow.

Findyourneutralspace · 22/05/2023 20:24

DMs are age appropriate. Youngsters are just discovering them, us oldies are reliving our youth!

I say get the ones you like.

VonThorn · 22/05/2023 20:38

My view is that a fairly basic brown chunky sandal - indeed any sandal - is suitable for anyone who wants to wear them.

TheOGCCL · 22/05/2023 20:44

I don’t like those, there are definitely better options available.

Punkkitty · 22/05/2023 21:41

Aged 42 and merrily wear (not all at the same time) my DM sandals, 3 pairs of DM boots and DM Mary Janes to my office full of 20 somethings... F*cks given zero!

JaneJeffer · 22/05/2023 21:52

not all at the same time Grin

GetDownkeith · 22/05/2023 22:05

I'm 44 and spent the winter in my fur lined dm Chelsea boots and am spending the summer in my new and lovely dm sandals. 20 year old dd says they are fugly but 13 year old ds2 things I look fabulous.

I have the Dune Locations, they are so comfortable and go with everything...., 20% off at the moment too

PaltnSepper · 23/05/2023 08:20

I like those red ones, though not sure about the layers in the sole; feels like they might squash and then be hard to walk in. But I like the suede straps and sole for comfort. I bought some Moshulu ones recently recommended on the last sandal thread a few days ago, but already find the soles of my feet sore from the cork footbed and my toes rubbed from straps touching them.

Oneborneverydecade · 23/05/2023 09:32

I'm 45 and wearing these rn

I don't think shoes can be too try hard can they? My super critical 16yo DS would tell me I'm dressing like a teen (thanks cropped Monki puffa) but even he encourages trendy trainers

I’m 48 and I’ve got the DM ones.

SneezyEvie · 23/05/2023 10:41

Age shouldn’t make you frumpy! Deffo get the DMs, or you can get some nineties style flatform sliders?
