Like a leather jacket, but not a leather jacket?

I could really do a with a short jacket that works with everything (jeans, dresses etc) and can be dressed up or down.

The obvious thing would be a short leather biker jacket...but I just don't like them (well I like them on other people but they're just not me somehow).

What else would fill the same gap in the wardrobe?

I think there’s something unique about a leather biker jacket which hits a sweet spot of being slightly edgy but classic, luxe but every day,tailored but casual that nothing else quite seems to do. It’s just a shame I don’t like them for me!

Bomber jacket in principle might work but it’s trying to find one that more on the luxe/classic end that can be dressed up rather than primarily being sometime to wear with jeans.

And a velvet jacket felt like it might work…I think it’s the luxe fabric thing that a leather jacket has. Just need to find one that fits the bill.

How about a suede biker jacket , less restrictive than some leather ones , but in black serves the same multi purposes . Bit short of time , so just adding a shien link to the sort of thing This one

Something like this? I love biker jackets on other people but they make me look even bigger than I am…they always seem to add bulk.

I remember years ago I had 2 suede collarless jackets, similar to PP’s, from Linea and they lasted years. Sadly they were 12’s and I am now very much not!😂

Or a biker jacket in another colour? I have a DKNY one in dove grey that I love to death.

Have a look at Iro jackets (on ebay or Vinted unless you're feeling flush). I really like their short, fitted jackets in lots of different fabrics which I think hit the same spot as a leather biker jacket.

I like leather jackets on others but on me they just don't work so I got one which is suede-y. I absolutely love it because it's not black black, more charcoal black.

How do you feel about tweed? You can get some lovely tweed jackets that might fit that slightly quirky/luxe fabric vibe.

it’s a fine line between too smart and too casual and everything seems to fall one side or the other, or I just don’t like the style. I’m starting thinking I might just buy a biker jacket and see if I can bring myself to like it!

I just get a denim one, or I wear cardigans. It's not one sized fits all situations. I do have a biker jacket, but it's a proper one so very very heavy, ideal for the motorbike, not so comfortable on a night out

Aargh I still don’t like anything suggested! Don’t mind that denim jacket but I want something to wear with jeans and and am not doing double denim.
