Idk, is it? I'm never sure as I know there are outlet stores which always puts me off a little? Educate me please!

Could we talk about bags without people being called TERFS.
It was completely unnecessary.

You’re in style & beauty. It can’t be a shock to you that people posting on style & beauty want to discuss what is deemed stylish/cool.

It's a shock that grown adults are so insecure they can't buy a bag they like because others might think it's "uncool"

All those type bags seem preppy but definitely not cool. Ted Baker, Michael Kors where I live and work was more about you being able to afford the label rather than any style points in my opinion!

The quality of some of the items might be great eg Radley but it’ll be a cold long night in hell before you’ll see me with either of these!

As I said given some of the monstrosities which are recommended on S& B (see most wedding guest threads or those horrendous Nancy Mac jumpsuits which appear all the time) I take that as a recommendation.

Thing is I notice what people wear clothes wise but your "cool" or "uncool" bags I'd barely notice - unless it was something strikingly ugly blazoned with logos (yuk)

Whistles also worth a look.

I like Radley. Radley cross body pocket bags are great. Well made and long lasting.

The fact they are deemed not to be "cool" by Mumsnet Style and Beauty, is, if anything, a recommendation.

I agree. Anything that people say is cool is probably not!

Oh for GOD’s SAKE.

This is a thread about HANDBAGS.

I am sick of Dylan Mulvaney issues popping up causing controversy. I don’t want to see the horrendously abusive posts against - awful - nor the supporters of Dylan being a tampon brand ambassador..

Arguably Dylan is an attention seeking person whose career in acting was flagging, and now lo and behold making millions off the back of trans rights and fetishising the transition process. I don’t know how progressive or helpful that is to everyday trans people.

PLEASE can we not just have a space to discuss handbags.

I’ll ask again - what is cool now if a lot of well known brands big 10yrs ago are out?

There's a uniqlo one that seems popular but I think looks like shit

Why do people keep recommending those jumpsuits? They don't look classy at all!

Sparkletastic · 18/05/2023 10:51

Sézane and Loewe make cool bags. Fossil make great and more affordable bags but not a cool brand.

Damnspot · 18/05/2023 10:57

Those jumpsuits look a bit hideous on the very skinny celebs who wear them.

I saw a pic of someone getting married in a brown velvet one. Why would you do that to yourself 😆

BBNoM · 18/05/2023 13:08

The OP started with the hate and nastiness when she called @Bluebells1970 a TERF. What a horrible term.

Does the OP not realise that it's possible to be gay/a lesbian and be gender critical? I'm pretty sure if people hate you OP it's for different reasons.

Re. Handbags I'd also recommend Coach. Limited branding, good quality leather. Not exactly trendy but if that's what you're looking for you'll have to pay more. Trendy brands to me would be Loewe, Philip Lim, Bottega Veneta.

Actually Ganni is reasonably priced and trendy IMO.

august20222 · 18/05/2023 13:27

I don't hate gay people, never have.

I do find the term Terf extremely offensive and the term is promoted with hatred.

I am GC and would like to hear about aspects of a brand which are in conflict with my own personal beliefs.

I am vegan and care about the planet so I would also like to hear about issues surrounding them when a fashion brand is being discussed.

I would say to the op 'cool' isn't something you can buy. Look in the shops if you want to buy new, or at brands your influencers like, or do what I do - trawl ebay/vinted for used quality bags you feel work with your current wardrobe and needs (eg size etc).

I also think MN S&B used to be more aspirational in the past when it was a smaller place and before insta etc was so. dominant. Over the years I've been pointed to lots and lots of amazing brands, but these days it's a bit more mainstream and therefore more accessible, but rarely 'cool'.

But that's also good.
