How would you fix this face?

Throwaway account as totally outing myself with a photo.

I'm almost 34, soon to be going back to work after mat leave and frankly I look haggard. I've never liked my appearance but it's at an all time low.

I'll be joining a new team, new people, & want to make a good first impression.

I've just bought new skincare (the new No7 stuff) & having my hair professionally cut & coloured next week (although am as yet undecided on a fringe or not...) but the rest of my face needs help.

If you had a month and could scrounge up a few hundred pounds to throw at it, how would you fix this?

Things I've considered (but never had);
Professional tooth whitening? (I've always had these odd white lines on my front teeth, will that make them worse?)
Lash extensions?
Lip filler? (Can this help disguise a wonky smile?)
Something else?

How would you fix this face?

A really good tinted moisturiser - after DS I felt a bit tired and haggard and tinted moisturiser made me feel more “even” and fresh without feeling slathered in makeup and without taking much time up.

I suspect a really good BB/CC cream would do something similar - Eborian is expensive but goes along way :) and lots of options which also have some spf in.

however, you look amazing and I wouldn’t think you need any procedures such as filler etc.

Go out and have fun treating yourself :)

MyFaceIsAnAONB · 06/05/2023 21:14

Omg you look lovely! I’m your age and would die for your skin - I have spots and wrinkles and you have neither.

I’d say save your money.

twofojoy · 06/05/2023 21:15

I think you look lovely! Genuinely!

Maybe a nice pamper day? Lash extensions , brow shaping and haircut.

I think you'd really suit a really rich brunette colour shoulder length and curtain bangs?

Maybe a nice facial - not because you look it bit just to make you feel less haggard?

VeggieSalsa · 06/05/2023 21:16

I’d say brows. Not because they really need it, but I always feel more put together after an eyebrow wax and tint. I ask them just to tidy them up and not change the shape as I think sharp edges just tidies my whole face up!

Bloody hell, if you are haggard I don’t know what I am! You are beautiful, proper English rose!
Do not touch those brows or lips. They are great as they are.
Can we see a hair down photo? What colour/cut are you thinking?

Congratulations on the new job!

Thank you.

Current hair is a mess of grown out red & black box dye.

I'm a grown-up Goth & work are ok with unnatural hair colours - so the plan is very dark brunette (my natural colour) with a green balayage (I'm sure that will split opinions but I want to feel like pre-baby me, so I want some colour in there).

Fringe - I was thinking quite blocky, but open to suggestions. Or no fringe.

You actually look very healthy and fresh.

Expert Botox or filler can absolutely sort out a wonky smile - but I’d go to an aesthetics doctor for this, rather than a nurse or beauty therapist.

I’d maybe consider topical Tretinoin for your spots, but will not be safe to use if you’re breastfeeding or may conceive again any time soon. I got mine through Skin + Me.

IfYouDontAsk · 06/05/2023 21:21

OP I found your post really sad. Scrolled down to the bottom of the post and there is a photo of an absolutely lovely looking woman. Nothing haggard about you. There’s absolutely nothing that needs to be fixed, honestly, and I really don’t mean to be patronising but I think when you’re an elderly lady you may well look back at photos of you at this age and kick yourself for not realising how lovely looking you were.

ArianahX · 06/05/2023 21:22

I did at home whitening with trays made to fit my teeth and whitening gels; the sensitivity was a lot, I had to use the trays alternate days instead of every day and change toothpaste to Sensodyne ProEnamel.. even after a few years of not whitening them my teeth are still sensitive, especially noticeable if I've got depressed and skipped brushing them (yuck I know) but do still look fairly white admittedly.

I think when you feel tired and out of sorts & generally low in confidence it can definitely affect your opinion of your appearance, i know I used to obsess over all sorts of things that were supposedly (i thought) wrong with my face.
Please whatever you do don't get lip fillers or Botox - your lips are fine and you have no lines.

Zonder · 06/05/2023 21:23

Just want to add my tuppence worth to say you look lovely and have a pretty face. I'd go for a new fresh hair cut as pp have said. That's all.

Mycatispretty · 06/05/2023 21:25

You are truly naturally lovely with beautiful skin

ArianahX · 06/05/2023 21:26

The hairstyle you shared is nice, but maybe go for a softer fringe not blocky that would be easier to grow out if you re not sure.

Fireplacefresh · 06/05/2023 21:26

There is absolutely nothing you need to do to fix your appearance.

I'm worried about your self esteem level and I honestly believe you would benefit from counselling.

waterlego · 06/05/2023 21:27

Crumbs. Eagerly clicked on the photo as I really do look haggard and thought I would find a fellow traveller...only to find an imposter!

Same! I’m 45 and genuinely haggard. Almost tempted to post a photo so OP can see what haggard really looks like but I’m too embarrassed 😂

OP, you have a really lovely face and healthy glowing skin. Please don’t have any fillers; you honestly don’t need them.

Jolenetookmyman · 06/05/2023 21:27

You look great OP. If you've not done it before, I'd try brow wax and tint and lash lift, I love it when mine are done. Nice natural brow shaping does wonders for my face and the lash lift looks like I'm always wearing mascara.

CharlotteRumpling · 06/05/2023 21:28

Please don't get Botox or fillers. Please. You are stunning.

PictureConsequences · 06/05/2023 21:30

Yup, you honestly look great. Very glowing and fresh.

ItsCalledAConversation · 06/05/2023 21:31

Don’t do lashes and fillers whatever you do. You have a beautiful face. Spend the money on a facial and some lovely skincare products instead. You also have great hair, how about a cut and blow dry?

Not sure how much you do already but why not spend a month avoiding crap food and booze, hydrating thoroughly, exercising daily (just a good walk outside and some stretches will do) and then see how you look/feel. I bet you’ll be amazed with yourself.

You deserve to feel more confident than you do, you look lovely to me!

foxlover47 · 06/05/2023 21:32

Just here to say I think if I met you I would definitely not look at you and think the way you see yourself :)

Passmeaplacard · 06/05/2023 21:32

You really don’t look haggard at all! I think you probably feel it due to lack of sleep and keeping a small person alive.
I would mainly focus on things that make you feel better about yourself, a nice little bedtime routine, gentle exercise etc. I can’t see anything that needs fixing

Huskysf · 06/05/2023 21:32

I think you are really pretty. Whilst I’m not against having work done and think if people want to do it then it’s their choice I really don’t think you need to do anything.

if you do want to feel different then an eyebrow wax and shape and some blusher/bronzer to contour your cheek bones along with a tinted moisturiser would literally be all you needed.

good luck with the new role. X

NotMeNoNo · 06/05/2023 21:33

Think about having your colours done? You have lovely colouring but wrong colours or possibly black would drain you.

CharlotteRumpling · 06/05/2023 21:36

Right? Was all ready with useful advice lined up and then " haggard" OP looks like a cross between Rosamund Pike and Florence Pugh.😀

SocksAndTheCity · 06/05/2023 21:38

I envy your eyebrows! The only real criticism I can find with the picture is that you are very badly lit.

Arewehumanorarewecupboards · 06/05/2023 21:40

The green balayage is gorgeous! Go for the fringe, it’ll grow out if it’s awful.
I have a Lego fringe and love it. Every time I think about growing it out I can’t, it’s me. I think especially with your brows it would be such a statement. And you will feel like you!

OhHeyItsAThrowaway · 06/05/2023 21:43

Mightaswellstayawakenow · 06/05/2023 21:09

It makes me sad that you say you don’t like your appearance. You look great! Lovely skin and your facial features are all nicely proportioned.
you don’t mention if you wear makeup, but it makes me feel 10x more confident. If I had the spare money, I’d probably go somewhere like Charlotte tilbury and get my makeup done professionally, then buy some new bits

Thank you - I think I've worn make up twice since DS was born. It would probably help.

You've reminded me that I had a make up lesson & some really nice bits from Bobbi Brown before my wedding day (did my own make up with it on the day) so I think I'll see if I can book a session there again.
