How would you fix this face?

Throwaway account as totally outing myself with a photo.

I'm almost 34, soon to be going back to work after mat leave and frankly I look haggard. I've never liked my appearance but it's at an all time low.

I'll be joining a new team, new people, & want to make a good first impression.

I've just bought new skincare (the new No7 stuff) & having my hair professionally cut & coloured next week (although am as yet undecided on a fringe or not...) but the rest of my face needs help.

If you had a month and could scrounge up a few hundred pounds to throw at it, how would you fix this?

Things I've considered (but never had);
Professional tooth whitening? (I've always had these odd white lines on my front teeth, will that make them worse?)
Lash extensions?
Lip filler? (Can this help disguise a wonky smile?)
Something else?

Crumbs. Eagerly clicked on the photo as I really do look haggard and thought I would find a fellow traveller...only to find an imposter!

Tell you what...if you are just feeling a bit beaten up and knackered (even though it absolutely doesn't show up in your face) you could spend a bit of money having one of those truly amazing facials where they get inside your mouth and massage your cheeks and gums from within. I've only had one once - in Paris - and it really felt (and looked) as if I'd had a mini face lift for about three days. I felt transformed. Had a definite glow about me which then flowed into greater confidence overall. Twin that with a gorgeous massage and your hair appt...heaven.

I can probably count the amount of facials I've ever had on both hands, but I feel shortchanged now.

Inside the mouth?? Did they prewarn you or just crack on? Do they have a specific name (so I can hunt down someone who does them)?

Your certainly beautiful and youthful yet there is wisdom is your eyes... the years will catch up x

Voltefarce · 06/05/2023 21:47

You look absolutely lovely. But I know that won’t make a difference if you don’t feel absolutely lovely. I would second the make up suggestion - change is as good as a rest. Have a makeover and get some nice new bits.

CornedBeef451 · 06/05/2023 21:47

You look lovely and very young!

If I were braver I'd show you a photo of my jowly face, it would make you feel much better!

You look beautiful and I have extreme eyebrow envy as I plucked mine into oblivion many years ago.

My mother was adept at hiding the tweezers when i was a teen, I have her to thank else I'd have done the same.

You honestly look lovely. I am so jealous of your skin! I'm 31 and I'm starting to get frown lines which make me feel so insecure. Try not to be so hard on yourself ❤️

TwoFluffyDogsOnMyBed · 06/05/2023 22:05

Gosh, please don’t alter your brows!! They’re gorgeous! they’re a great shape and natural, unshaped brows are far more youthful.

You’ve got lovely bambi eyes….you could really emphasise them but I don’t think you need to bother with extensions or anything - mascara would be perfectly good.

DinaofCloud9 · 06/05/2023 22:11

Geez you look great. I know it's easy to say but please have more confidence in yourself.

I think they are called buccal massages over here. Or maybe intensive lymphatic massage? Brilliant for smoothing those naso labial lines and tautening and clearing out sinuses (mine are blocked from around November to June).

I really wasn't expecting it - just went along for a usual facial (have only ever had three of those in my life) and she suddenly had a gloved thumb and finger inside my mouth, massaging in between my teeth and lips, and up inside my cheeks. And hard, too. It was quite rigorous and painful. I did have a semi freak but then thought, oh well - Parisian women are pretty hard core about their beauty. I'd best just go along with it. And - yeah. The results were absolutely extraordinary. The muscles were proper aching from the workout In fact I am now inspired to find a place that does them here.

pumpkintits · 06/05/2023 22:54

OP you don't look haggard at all! I definitely wouldn't get lip filler, it feels like a very extreme step to fix a problem that I honestly cannot see.

If I were you I would maybe get a few lovely, high end brand bits of makeup and/or a new perfume (these things always make me feel happier)

For your hair, maybe bangs? I'm not a fan of a full fringe personally but love the sweepy curtain bangs that people have. Something like this but the fringe a bit shorter?

You don't look your age in the first pic at all, I was going to suggest a lash lift and brow shaping, but in the hair down pic I think the red colour does age you, love the idea of the green. I'd throw money at hair (brows lashes head) and maybe some new make up for a confidence boost.

You don't look at all haggard.

CBAanymoreTBH · 06/05/2023 23:25

You are stunning! Your face is totally symmetrical. Don't do anything cosmetic like fillers.

I did at home whitening with trays made to fit my teeth and whitening gels; the sensitivity was a lot, I had to use the trays alternate days instead of every day and change toothpaste to Sensodyne ProEnamel.. even after a few years of not whitening them my teeth are still sensitive, especially noticeable if I've got depressed and skipped brushing them (yuck I know) but do still look fairly white admittedly.

I think when you feel tired and out of sorts & generally low in confidence it can definitely affect your opinion of your appearance, i know I used to obsess over all sorts of things that were supposedly (i thought) wrong with my face.
Please whatever you do don't get lip fillers or Botox - your lips are fine and you have no lines.

If you haven't tried it, sensodyne rapid relief is incredible. You can brush with it and just smear it on your teeth and it gets rid of my sensitivity in minutes

Kyse · 06/05/2023 23:33

I would say cosmetically and only if you wanted to then tooth whitening does make a big difference (sensitivity was ok for me as long as I used sensodyne rapid relief)

But I would take yourself off for (god this is such a cliche!) a spa day and get a facial and a massage because you will feel better. Or a flotation tank session, pedicure, whatever you fancy. Having my nails done always makes me feel more groomed and you can just have them painted without gels etc

excelledyourself · 06/05/2023 23:40

You are honestly lovely as you are, OP. A little bit of light make up (and only because I can't imagine leaving the house without some!) and job done. Do what you like to your hair, because that can be reversed, changed, whatever, if you want a change. But nothing else is needed.

You remind me very much of Jodie Comer.

CarpetSlipper · 06/05/2023 23:47

You don’t look haggard in the slightest! You look lovely. You don’t to fix anything.

WhereAreWeNow · 06/05/2023 23:53

No 'fixing' required OP. You look lovely as you are.

Habreathmint · 07/05/2023 00:49

You look lovely! Don't get horrible lip fillets, they look shit. Maybe try a lash lift and getting your eyebrows threaded. I love doing this and it really opens up my eyes. Concentrate on sleeping and eating well. How you feel really reflects on how you look.

Vgtasd · 07/05/2023 01:04

You are very beautiful, you don't need anything done at all!

ProstituteHair · 07/05/2023 02:34

OP! You look beautiful! Do not fuck about with yourself!

You have majestic brows, leave them!

What would I do if I were you? Get your hair down, shake it about, maybe some vit C, tinted moisturiser, some smudgy eyeliner and a fuck-ton of mascara. Bit of lip gloss.

You'd look brilliant.

Mess yourself up a bit. Be comfortable.

That is all you need to do.

Strawberrypicnic · 07/05/2023 02:59

You defo don't need anything injectable, I'd have put you at younger than 34 :)

I think you'd look amazing with an LVL lash lift - you might find you don't even need/want to wear mascara afterwards. It's a subtle effect that makes me feel really put together! Also, I'm going to go against what others have said and recommend eyebrow threading. The point is not to end up with thin or ultra-shaped/defined eyebrows! Lovely full brows like you've got are actually perfect for it, the point is not to get rid of them but to follow their natural shape and tidy them up in a way that flatters and opens up your face. Look for an Indian salon if you have one in your area - they are the best :)

BlackSwan · 07/05/2023 19:02

Wow - you're stunning. Don't do anything. You look in your mid twenties btw.

Morag273 · 07/05/2023 19:06

You are gorgeous!

Cherryblossoms85 · 07/05/2023 19:08

You look lovely. Bit of foundation, light bronzer, mascara and a nice berry light lip colour and you'll look really polished.

Stinkymalinkyfromdownthelane · 07/05/2023 19:12

You look lovely. Beautiful eyes and a non saggy face. 👍
