How would you fix this face?

Throwaway account as totally outing myself with a photo.

I'm almost 34, soon to be going back to work after mat leave and frankly I look haggard. I've never liked my appearance but it's at an all time low.

I'll be joining a new team, new people, & want to make a good first impression.

I've just bought new skincare (the new No7 stuff) & having my hair professionally cut & coloured next week (although am as yet undecided on a fringe or not...) but the rest of my face needs help.

If you had a month and could scrounge up a few hundred pounds to throw at it, how would you fix this?

Things I've considered (but never had);
Professional tooth whitening? (I've always had these odd white lines on my front teeth, will that make them worse?)
Lash extensions?
Lip filler? (Can this help disguise a wonky smile?)
Something else?

How would you fix this face?

Ok I am going to be 100% honest with you. I think you look very bright eyed and fresh faced, your skin is clear, you have even features, and you have a very nice, symmetrical face. In short you are very attractive and do not need to correct anything. Good skincare and a nice hair cut are always a good idea, and if getting your teeth whitened will give you confidence, go for it. But you don't need anything done.

Findyourneutralspace · 06/05/2023 21:04

You don’t need anything doing to your lovely face! If you want a boost, how about having a colour consultation to learn how to make the best of your natural appearance?

AlisonDonut · 06/05/2023 21:04

Bless you. Just get a good haircut and stop doing yourself down.

You have great skin overall, I'd invest in a good retinol night cream, niacinamide for darker spots, stable vitamin C serum for morning, finish with a decent sunscreen.

The only other thing is your brows, they could do with shaping and clearning up.

I'd try to get a side 70s sort of style fringe, definitely not a block cut.

You have wonderful hair, gorgeous colour, I wouldn't change that too much.

Thank you - I actually have some retinol & niacinamide that I got from The Ordinary a while back, so I'll add that to my routine. My new day cream is SPF 40.

Brows! I should have said - I've been growing them out in order to have them properly shaped. Good reminder to actually book the appointment though Blush

Hair is a combination of very grown out roots & red box dye - so will be having a colour to bring it back to my very dark brown natural colour.

I think you’re very much mistaken

Why do you feel haggard?

Don’t waste time on the negativity when you look as you do

Busybusybusy · 06/05/2023 21:05

doesnt need fixing, you look lovely :-)

MeMeMeYou · 06/05/2023 21:05

You don't need to do anything! Love your eyebrows btw! Hair styled and down and a little bit of mascara and pink lip gloss and you'll feel more done.

TheOGCCL · 06/05/2023 21:05

Haggard is not a word I'd use for that face! You need to try and appreciate what you have at 34 as it doesn't get better 🤣.

I'd just add a smile and if you don't do that a lot because of your teeth definitely look into whitening. I did it last year and it makes a big difference but is quite subtle so no one is quite sure what is different.

MaisieDaisyMay · 06/05/2023 21:05

You look lovely. Your eyebrows look fine. Normal, not some 'trendy' monstrosity.

you look younger than your age.

its hard to say, but don't do anything drastic with your hair, it's great to be able to put it in a pony tail & not have to fuss with it when you're wrangling a baby before work.

please try to enjoy looking naturally lovely. Young & lovely.

Oblomov23 · 06/05/2023 21:05

This is so sad to read. You look lovely. Post again after your haircut. I'm sure your'll look fab.

shivawn · 06/05/2023 21:06

I love your eyebrows as they are! The overhead lighting isn't great in that photo but I think you look the opposite of haggard.

XBealtaine · 06/05/2023 21:07

You're really pretty! Get your hair done and enjoy make up because it's a boost, but you don't need to fix your face. You're a gooooood looooookin' woman.

Honestly honestly you look fresh!!

I am a medical aesthetics practitioner.
I do not think you need lip filler, you have beautiful lips.

You could consider a little bit of filler to your:
Nasolabial folds, mid cheek or tear troughs.

Or possibly a chemical peel

OhHeyItsAThrowaway · 06/05/2023 21:07

ThePoshUns · 06/05/2023 20:57

Nothing wrong with your face at all
You have lovely skin and nice features.
I think a haircut is a good idea to make you look more ' together' .
Maybe go to one of the make up counters if you want some make up advice?

I've been a bit lost since Debenhams closed but I might take a trip to John Lewis for the make up counters. I tried hanging around the counters in our big Boots but no one seemed interested in serving me Confused must have looked skint Grin

If you really want to make a good impression to your new team I'd ask for this to be taken down. You look great and don't want them thinking you are high maintenance.

grayhairdontcare · 06/05/2023 21:09

Skin and eyebrows are fine.
I have the same lips as you and I'm considering a bit of filler in top lip.
Also I think you would really suit a fringe.
But honestly you are absolutely fine. Enjoy your job.

Mightaswellstayawakenow · 06/05/2023 21:09

It makes me sad that you say you don’t like your appearance. You look great! Lovely skin and your facial features are all nicely proportioned.
you don’t mention if you wear makeup, but it makes me feel 10x more confident. If I had the spare money, I’d probably go somewhere like Charlotte tilbury and get my makeup done professionally, then buy some new bits

wildfirewonder · 06/05/2023 21:09

I would get a nice hair cut and save the rest of your money.

GulfCoastBeachGirl · 06/05/2023 21:09

You look lovely. Lip filler?!!! Absolutely not, that would be criminal! If you must do something, have your brows shaped a bit.

Truthfully, you have good skin and attractive, symmetrical features. Don't look for problems where there aren't any🙂

OllyBJolly · 06/05/2023 21:09

You are beautiful! Don’t risk that by any dodgy treatments.

(I can always tell when people have lip fillers)

OhHeyItsAThrowaway · 06/05/2023 21:09

DameDoom · 06/05/2023 20:59

You have a lovely, youthful, open face, great skin and really good brows. Is your hair thick and wavy? How about a wash and go tousled bob? Would look ace, but you really do look great just the way you are.

I love this, but would go a bit more shoulder length as bobs tend to make my face look very round 😅
Yes, thick (apart from the postpartum hairless round the temples) & unruly, I mean, wavy

ABoyCalledBasil · 06/05/2023 21:10

Nothing at all. Your face is lovely and your eyebrows are perfect. DO NOT mess with them.

I'd suggest a good blow dry at the hair dressers with a bit of height at the front but that's all.

Dontbelieveaword · 06/05/2023 21:10

Congratulations on the baby, firstly.
Of course, you're not going to feel the same as you did pre-baby - you're probably knackered, hormonal and maybe nervous about leaving baby and returning to work
But honestly, you look amazing. As pps have said, maybe an eyebrow wax and haircut (I personally love your colour the way it is) but something manageable and easy to style or throw into a pony or bun if you're rushing in morning to get both you and baby ready. Start your new skin regime, speak to dentist but I wouldn't touch your lips themselves or start down the filler/botox route. I paid last year a few hundred for a home whitening kit which really worked but the sensitivity was too much for me and stopped before end of treatment. One year on I still get sensitivy/pain. Not sure if an in-house treatment would be better/different.
Good luck returning to work 💐

friskybivalves · 06/05/2023 21:11

Crumbs. Eagerly clicked on the photo as I really do look haggard and thought I would find a fellow traveller...only to find an imposter!

Tell you what...if you are just feeling a bit beaten up and knackered (even though it absolutely doesn't show up in your face) you could spend a bit of money having one of those truly amazing facials where they get inside your mouth and massage your cheeks and gums from within. I've only had one once - in Paris - and it really felt (and looked) as if I'd had a mini face lift for about three days. I felt transformed. Had a definite glow about me which then flowed into greater confidence overall. Twin that with a gorgeous massage and your hair appt...heaven.

AlwaysGinPlease · 06/05/2023 21:11

You look beautiful and I have extreme eyebrow envy as I plucked mine into oblivion many years ago.
