Teacher summer shoes!!

Ok…it’s the annual school appropriate footwear question!! Requirements are…has to be closed toe (non negotiable)…tan or brown type colour, preferably leather, wedge or block heel. Smart style and can be worn with trousers, skirts and dresses. Tend to wear cropped trouser suits, midi structured dresses or jumpsuit with blazer. I have some espadrille type shoes that are ok but a bit too casual. Budget £150. Anyone seen anything??!! Thanks 😊

Jesus Christ. In Scotland and I wear sandals when it's warm and converse when it's chilly. I didn't realise teachers' dress code down south was as restrictive as the kids'.

Ginandrosemary · 05/05/2023 20:07

Is this the school non-negotiable or yours? I wear pumps or trainers! Thankfully my school is very relaxed. I am also in the South.

BCBird · 05/05/2023 20:10

We wouldn't be able to wear pumps or trainers. I got the same dilemma but probably a third of the budget and size o feet- virtually impossible

AfingeroffudgeisNOTenough · 05/05/2023 20:20

I alternated between these and my TOMS Julie Flats last summer term. This year I’m tempted by the TOMS Darcy Flats.

I’m curious about the no pumps and the tan/brown colour rules. Are those your rules or the school’s? Closed toe is a rule in our school which is very strictly adhered to, as is no trainers (although some teachers definitely push that and get away with it), but pumps are definitely fine as are brightly coloured shoes. Several teachers wear brightly coloured heels all year round.

Cyclingmummy1 · 05/05/2023 20:20

I feel your pain! Sent back a pair of loafers today, too small, so back to the drawing board but loafers might be an option for you.

AfingeroffudgeisNOTenough · 05/05/2023 20:21

Autocorrect - TOMS Jutti - not Julie!

NCTDN · 05/05/2023 22:31

I've never heard of colour restrictions on staff shoes! How strict is the clothes policy for you?

SarBear1980 · 06/05/2023 05:58

No no!! The colour restriction is mine!! 🤣 I have a very neutral palette wardrobe so brown/tan is what I need to match!! Closed toe is the school non negotiable…secondary school SLT so dress code is smart.

@AfingeroffudgeisNOTenough those are lovely flat options but I’m really looking for a heeled option or wedge.
@Cyclingmummy1 I’ve got black loafers for winter so maybe I should consider lighter coloured ones…

in my mind my ideal shoe is brown leather, closed toe kind of straps that make it look more sandal like!! I have this same dilemma every year!!

These but in the brown colourway? I have a similar dilemma every year and have just ordered some Stella style from here - hoping it's going to be the answer to my summer shoes hunt from now on 🤞

Yes!! Thank you for all these suggestions…I’ve definitely been eyeing up some Russell and Bromley shows but they are sooooo expensive. However @Haus1234 you are spot on with those Mint Velvet ones. They are perfect…thank you!!

These are navy not tan but smart and fit the brief otherwise https://www.debenhams.com/product/dune-london-annabels-wedges_p-956e5faf-edab-4a9b-8da0-24173a67172e

Maireas · 06/05/2023 07:36

Those Annabel wedges are high! I wouldn't be running up and down stairs and doing outside duties in those!

Maireas · 06/05/2023 07:38

The Lipsy ones are high as well, what's your take on that, OP? Some people manage ok all day but I'd struggle.

Maireas · 06/05/2023 07:41

I'm on here because I need the same recommendations, although not SLT.

Bedofroses2 · 06/05/2023 07:43

The Dune and Lipsy are both the sort of height I'd wear for work in the summer, if I was wearing a wedge - I'm secondary too.
