Wedding guest dress - is this too informal?

I’m guessing a few of these will be coming up over the next few weeks!

I’m going to a cousin’s wedding at a country hotel this summer. There’s no dress code, but I don’t want to look too casual. I really like this dress - and while I’d typically go for more reddish/purple colours, I actually really like the green. I feel I could wear it again too.

I’m 5ft 11, big 12 to small 14 with dark colour hair and green eyes. I think the colours and pattern would suit me, but it’s a bit floatier than I’d usually choose, so I was wondering if something more “structured” might be better (more formal looking)? Views welcome:

It's gorgeous. It's exactly right for a wedding.

Hi OP it’s a beautiful shape and colour, but honestly I would avoid polyester as it always (IMO) looks cheap. On that basis I would not wear it, and think that would
make it not special enough for a wedding. Real shame though as if it wasn’t for the fabric it would be gorgeous.

I agree, it would be prefect for a summer wedding, and I bet you’d feel good, as it’s elegant and floaty.

I bought it last year. It is lovely, easy to dress up for a wedding. It is polyester so not great for a real scorching day as can get a bit sweaty but got lots of nice comments in it. It doesn't scream polyester. Definitely pleased I bought it.

I've bought this dress for a wedding reception, and whilst I have kept it, the neckline is VERY plunging. It's also cheaper on the Yumi site - £58.

I’m definitely going to order it. I appreciate what a couple of posters have said about the material, but I have enough time to send it back and get something else if it doesn’t look as good in the flesh (or in the fabric).

@Justmuddlingalong I think avoiding heels might be a good idea anyway in an old building at my height 🤭

It's lovely and absolutely perfect for a summer wedding.

I did think it looked a bit low in one of the pictures… I’ll try it, but might have to invest in what my mother calls a “modesty vest” if I look like my dumplings are boiling over!

It’s lovely but if it’s YumI as the review suggest, it will probably be too short in the body for you making the belt sit wrong. I love YumI style but the dresses are not great if you’re tall (I’m 5 8 and see you’re taller).

It's gorgeous, and being tall you will really be able to carry it off.

PP makes a good point about the heels but it won't look a good in any other sort of shoe.
