What to wear for the West End London at 3pm - dinner afterwards

Please send help.

Next Sunday, I'm going to see a musical at the West End and dinner afterwards. It is for a 2nd date so a little more thought on my outfit wouldn't go amiss.

I'm stuck with a very boring and casual wardrobe and this needs to change.

I usually wear modest clothing as in not showing / revealing too much. I want to create a classic / chic / feminine style, somewhat "French". Traditional but not boring. Versatile. Comfort is important to me.

I'm young looking 46 transitioning to silver hair so I want to create contrast with my outfits and not look like someone's grandma. Looking to create a grown up but fun and somehow low key sexy style. I'm very careful with prints and prefer them in dresses rather than just the top or just the bottom. I'm about 5'5, between 50-55 kg.

Please help me with photos and links. My budget is not massive but I'm willing to use my credit card and take the plunge. I need help with the whole shebang: outfit / shoes / jacket... I have only a few days to get this sorted!

Look on The Outnet for discounted Equipment silk shirts.

Because it's a rubbish 'look'

This picture posted upthread most certainly is!

CoconutNoodles · 10/04/2023 12:01

@ProstituteHair those boots are everything I need but didn't know I need - - until you showed them to me and I will get them in the future no matter what.

Anyway, enough fallafleing.

OP has fantastic and directional hair.

That will suit masculine styling.

Silk shirt (if you're going to throw money at it, do get the Equipment shirt, navy. You won't regret it)

Straight leg jeans.

Blazer.

Boots.

That's all you need to know.

I’d go for the existing black jumpsuit and give it some va va boom with a funky jacket…this immediately sprang to mind (which I’ve been coveting for ages - am same age as you but sadly too chunky for it!)

Aha @CoconutNoodles once you get into the good stuff, there's no turning back.

ProstituteHair · 10/04/2023 12:05

Do not buy jazzy jackets.

MintyCedric · 10/04/2023 12:11

@ProstituteHair

Why?

CoconutNoodles · 10/04/2023 12:14

I will break the bank later but for now would this cheap £38 - Next - top fight with my silver hair or compliment it?
I have similar denim trousers and exact the same suede jacket but will need shoes or boots with a sensible heel (not sandals) and a handbag.

My denim trousers are similar in shape but very dark blue

I would absolutely not buy that top @CoconutNoodles .

No.

KISS.

itsgettingweird · 10/04/2023 12:17

Interestingly I tend to go masculine in the cold months and feminine in the hot months.

This is exactly me!!!

I've never met anyone else like this so this has made my day!!

Iwantthepenthouse · 10/04/2023 12:18

I think the OP maybe needs some advice and not being bossed around quite as much as @ProstituteHair wants to. She's not a Barbie doll to dress up. 😄

ProstituteHair · 10/04/2023 11:22

Do not wear a midi and trainers with a leather jacket

This

yahtzeecandle · 10/04/2023 12:19

prostitutehair, why is it ok for you to pronounce certain items bad (that jacket, floral dresses) yet not for other posters to say those boots you posted are bad?

AnnaMagnani · 10/04/2023 12:19

Based on walking around Covent Garden last week I would say:

Skinny jeans, top and jacket. Jacket could be biker jacket or coloured blazer. No-one had the 'skinny jeans are out' memo.

Or wide-leg trousers in a print or colour. With a wool coat.

I'm not ' bossing' anyone around.

@CoconutNoodles asked for advice.

I gave her advice.

That's not 'bossing'.

Merely responding to a request.

Charley50 · 10/04/2023 12:21

I quite like that blue top.

midsomermurderess · 10/04/2023 12:22

aholidaynotacarpark · 10/04/2023 11:55

Why never not?

Because it is utterly dull, lacking in imagination and individuality. Such a very tired look.

jayhoo · 10/04/2023 12:22

I'm with @ProstituteHair

RosesAndHellebores · 10/04/2023 12:24

Wide leg trousers in a soft grey, three quarter sleeve wrap top or silk blouse in a soft pink/blue, soft grey, possibly darker grey duster coat. It will be almost May so I'd wear a pale brogue or loafers but then I'm not into trainers.

Wear what you like.

I am merely giving my opinion.

I'm torn here because that jacket was awful but so were the boots. 😄

Honestly, they have stead and simpson vibes.
