Is this top acceptable for the office?

I'm 34D so there would definitely be some cleavage - I'm very unbothered by that sort of thing, but still want to be taken seriously https://www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.1142598002.html

Sweetheart-neck top - Black - Ladies | H&M GB

If it looks like it looks in the photo, then fine.
If it means you are flashing cleavage everywhere, then it isn't appropriate, no.

Matchymatchylemonscratchy · 09/04/2023 00:11

No with a big bust the cleavage in that too would be all you can see.

Its a nice top though.

I’m at the very conservative end of work attire though. All skirts and dress knee length or longer, all blouse neckline at the collarbone. I don’t want to feel self conscious in meetings or having to adjust a blouse.

Schmutter · 09/04/2023 00:14

It’s fine. I probably wouldn’t wear it as I manage a team of 8 men and they look at my tits if I’m wearing a polo neck 🙄

TheChosenTwo · 09/04/2023 00:16

It’s a nice top, With my small saggy spaniels ears I’d be fine but probably wouldn’t wear to the office on offchance of the pervy boss coming in!
Totally depends, you can’t help the size of your boobs but as long as they’re under control and not bursting out then I don’t see why not.

Minierme · 09/04/2023 00:16

I probably wouldn’t wear it to work but depends a lot on your particular shape and how it fits on. I work in a smart/casual to casual (depending on what we are doing that day) office.

emptythelitterbox · 09/04/2023 00:19

Of course not, if you want to be taken seriously.

UndercoverCop · 09/04/2023 00:28

Not at my workplace, but I work with sex offenders.

MouseMinge · 09/04/2023 00:29

I own that top. It's lovely, not as overtly low cut as it looks in the photos but is very busty. Try it out and see how comfortable you feel wearing it.

LadyGAgain · 09/04/2023 00:31

Of course!! That's absolutely fine! (Large corporate company over here)

LadyGAgain · 09/04/2023 00:32

I'm stunned at the prudish judgmental comments "if you want to be taken seriously" WTAF,

It's in the OP. She wishes to be taken seriously so she's asking for advice.

LadyGAgain · 09/04/2023 00:40

You have missed the point @MorrisZapp . Read the comment from another poster a few before mine.

LadyGAgain · 09/04/2023 00:41

The one by @emptythelitterbox . I'm not in their camp.

Should I wear this top if I want to be taken seriously?

Of course not, if you want to be taken seriously.

It was asked, and it was answered.

LadyGAgain · 09/04/2023 00:47

Are you actually saying @MorrisZapp that the OP would not be taken seriously based on her outfit??

MorrisZapp · 09/04/2023 00:50

I have no idea if she'd be taken seriously, I certainly hope she would. But she knows her own shape, usual style and the dynamics of her workplace yet felt she needed guidance on this so she must at least think there's a chance she wouldn't be.

NatashaDancing · 09/04/2023 00:55

No it's not suitable for office wear. It's not so much whether or not you have cleavage but just the amount of skin on show. A man wearing a t-shirt showing that amount of skin wouldn't be appropriate in an office either.

LadyGAgain · 09/04/2023 00:56

Glad we're aligned @MorrisZapp with hoping OP would be taken seriously. There was a moment I wasn't sure so thank you for re-affirming.

You have to be joking. It's a neckline, it's hardly mass exposure.

HeddaGarbled · 09/04/2023 01:01

Tight-fitted and long tight sleeves, you’re only going to be comfortable when it’s chilly. But then you’re exposing all that chest, so you’re going to get cold.

Never mind the tits-on-show dilemma. It’s a silly design, by someone who hasn’t thought about whether it will be comfortable. Not unusual for women’s clothing 🤷‍♀️

MysteryBelle · 09/04/2023 01:25

Unprofessional for work. It would look even more so on a large chest. But you say your office is very lax. Have you seen coworkers wear similar tops, in particular your superiors? That will give you the answer.

I do think it’s a pretty top to wear outside of work. Personally I would never wear that to the office, not professional.

My reaction was " you're going to be cold in that"

No I'm not joking. It reminds me of the sort of low necked t-shirts Johnny Burrell of Razorlight used to wear. He looked great on the stage in Glastonbury. One male junior solicitor turned up in one on a "dress down Friday" -he looked ridiculous and out of place.

It's nothing to do with being prudish, but frankly not looking daft.

Phoebo · 09/04/2023 04:12

It's lovely, such a beautiful neckline. Will probably depend on your boobs is it's sits as nice though

Phoebo · 09/04/2023 04:16

These comments are so weird, there is zero clevage on the model. But even if OP does, so what. If you've got it, flaunt it. As long as you're not totally falling out. Big boobs will always show cleavage it can't be helped, unless you expect her to wear a high neck and look like a matron which is worse. You do you OP!
