Here we are again, and this time looking forward to the warmer weather , putting away our comfy woolies ( and new season's dresses).

Everyone welcome ..

Loving your outfit descriptions @Stoic123 , really insipiring! I'm sitting here wondering what i would like to wear tomorrow.

ilovecherries · 18/05/2023 18:13

Shortening the sleeves is actually a good idea. Would you go to just below elbows or properly short? Hair is funny as I’ve been as bald as a coot for nearly 50 years, so whatever hair you see is a random choice of style and colour for how I feel on any given day 😂

dudsville · 18/05/2023 18:16

@Ghosteen ! I might order one. I liked the toast one but even at a sale price i still felt it was too much.

mizu · 18/05/2023 21:01

I am desperate to get back wearing sandals with dresses for work but not quite ready.

Bought these 2nd hand on eBay. Arrived today and I ❤️ them for the in between times.

I'm very fond of Bostons for the between seasons @mizu, yours are a nice colour.

neveradullmoment99 · 19/05/2023 11:20

My seasalt linen dress arrived and its lovely and I am very pleased with it! Its very 'Toast.' I would have loved for it to be a bit longer but I love everything about it. I may even consider ordering it in a different colour.
It is a little neat on the bust but its fine, even with a wee tee under it. Such good value and even better with 25% off. The linen is lovely and the pocket placement is superb. Means they don't stick out at the sides.

Which one did you get, never? I found a very old credit note for seasalt the other day - so old I was convinced they wouldn’t accept it but I phoned and asked nicely and they did, which was great. So I got the linen jumpsuit in green. So much more manageable to have buttons on the shoulders! I really like it. Also updated the credit note with my ‘change’ so I’ve still got just under £50 to put towards something else.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 19/05/2023 12:21

Yes, it is lovely @neveradullmoment99 , although I agree it’s a bit neat on the bust. Toast dresses are often almost ankle length for me so I found this a better length.

neveradullmoment99 · 19/05/2023 12:33

Would love it in reflection colourway too.

ilovecherries · 19/05/2023 12:34

neveradullmoment99 · 19/05/2023 12:14

This but in green. I love very simple things.

Cresting Waves Dress - Seasalt Cornwall

That’s lovely.

Would love it in reflection colourway too.

I tried that colour in the shop as well, it is really lovely, similar I would think to Toast's egg blue balloon trousers.

Stoic123 · 19/05/2023 19:04

Does anyone own/has tried on the Prince of Wales Check Jacket? Thoughts?

Might have to wait for sale but I keep on being drawn to it.

ToastCosILoveIt · 19/05/2023 20:20

@Stoic123 , i have tried the entire Prince of Wales suit and love it but have no real use for it. It comes up big so I had to size down to a 10 (high street 12). If it is in the sale I will snap it up.

Stoic123 · 19/05/2023 20:36

Thanks @ToastCosILoveIt - useful sizing advice.

I think I'll give the jacket a try if it ends up in the sale. Like you, it would be an indulgent purchase so probably needs a lower price point to justify.

dudsville · 19/05/2023 20:38

I also like both together as a smart outfit and i also do not have an occasion to wear. What do you think would be the right occasion? It would be slightly too smart for my work, but i would wear it there. Where else?

Sorry to hijack @Stoic123 ,ive been admiring out but I've not tried it.

ilovecherries · 19/05/2023 21:04

It’s lovely. I adore a PoW check. But trying to consider life I have rather than the one I have n my head!

AFingerofFudge · 20/05/2023 08:08

@ilovecherries that really resonated with me, about dressing for the life I actually have!!!

Stoic123 · 20/05/2023 08:51

@dudsville - it's crying out for an exhibition opening night at a smart gallery or a client pitch for an ad agency...so not the life I have 😂.

I'm thinking of buying just the the jacket and dressing it down (pinafores etc) but need to try with a few faves.

dudsville · 20/05/2023 11:57

The jacket is easily very wearable, unlike the matching set, and I think you've nailed it @Stoic123 with the perfect description of suitable activities for the set, and those things aren't me either! I wonder if it could be suitable for a funeral... but that's me stretching for a reason to buy it - I never did get a funeral dress in the sale of dark corduroy dresses! But the funerals I'm likely to attend also will never have strict dress codes or be very posh so I will have something suitable amongst my ordinary wardrobe.

I'm doing a bit of a toasty activity today - sorting through the freezer for last years' fruit I found a big bag of prepared apples - soon the house will smell of healthy applesauce. And I'm actually not wearing toast! I'm in a french connection 100% cotton boiler suit style dress in a washed black. It's loose but surprisingly feminine and somehow always makes me feel like gina lollobrigida. No one will ever look at me and think that of me, but it's how the dress makes me feel nonetheless! Does anyone else have an item like that?

Noeggsontoast · 20/05/2023 12:25

@dudsville I have a Camilla floor length silk dress wrap over with enormous kimono style sleeves, the most delicate of breezes and slightest movement make it waft and flutter. I feel ethereal and serene wearing that dress. I've had it several years, purchased whilst l lived in Aus. and wore to the opera on its first outing to see Madame Butterfly which seemed fitting. It's my go to special event item and I shall never part with it.

I'm very Toasty today, kitty clogs, patchwork skirt and navy collared sweater. Sitting in the garden enjoying the sun but having to do work!

ilovecherries · 20/05/2023 15:38

I have two qus, neither Toast related but at the same time I’m sure there is enough expertise here to answer them!

  1. I have a gorgeous black crepe sleeveless dress, quite flowy, which always makes me feel I should be striding insouciantly through the streets of Paris to spend the afternoon with my lover. Last week I wore it with an obi belt from 100 stars for a different look and my friend said ‘oh, doing a bit of cultural appropriation today, are you?’ I’ve felt terrible about is since. What do you think?

  2. is it horrendously rude to offer £95 for something listed on vinted for £150? It’s from about 4 years ago. I honestly believe it’s a fair price as £150 was the original retail price. I know I can offer whatever I want but I do know rude chancers are annoying.

ilovecherries · 20/05/2023 15:41

This is the belt

Toasties:- Spring frocks and socks?
dudsville · 20/05/2023 16:04

@Noeggsontoast , that dress and how it makes you feel sounds fabulous! I love what clothes can evoke.

@ilovecherries , your dress and how you feel wearing also sounds amazing. What a shame to have had this interaction about it. I don't feel i have my finger on the button with that so can't really say, but i could easily have chosen your belt too. It looks v pretty. I'm also clueless about vinted.

faustina · 20/05/2023 16:05

taking a break from gardening (in old Toast trousers - can't remember what they're called but a very nice colour - Montella I think?) - anyway @ilovecherries - £150 is quite a lot to ask for something that is 4 years old! Is it preworn too? I would definitely offer £95 if it were me. If you want to convince yourself further you could do an advanced search on Ebay for the item and see how much they sell for. That's what I doing when I sell anything, to get an idea. Good luck!
