Here we are again, and this time looking forward to the warmer weather , putting away our comfy woolies ( and new season's dresses).

Everyone welcome ..

I’m enjoying the styling video, they show the denim panelled trousers, I think @faustina you were interested to see in real life?

faustina · 09/05/2023 15:25

@Snowyowl78 - yes I 'm watching it too and they do look lovely. I'm quite surprised that the ice blue linen balloon trousers don't look blue at all - but maybe that's my screen

Snowyowl78 · 09/05/2023 15:31

The answer to the question about covering arms is making me laugh!

the answer appears to be to put a jumper on- in the summer!

Saurus72 · 09/05/2023 16:56

Such a shame about all the sleeveless dresses, very few with sleeves to choose from. I really think a lot (maybe most?) women are self conscious of their arms. Maybe it’s just me because mine are horrible.

Snowyowl78 · 09/05/2023 17:57

@Saurus72 me too, I’ve never worn sleeveless things except on holiday. I’d like to, but my arms are probably my worst feature! I’m quite liking dresses at the moment that you can wear a tshirt under.

did you see somebody asked in the chat what they would suggest for someone who wanted to cover their arms, and the answer was put on a cardigan or a jumper!

Saurus72 · 09/05/2023 18:31

I know! I get that cardis/jumpers are an option in spring/autumn but I like my clothes to have maximum flexibility and not being able to wear a sleeveless summer dress in actual summer without a layer is just too limiting. I really like the maeve sea kelp dress in coral and would snap it up if it had sleeves.

Although I’ve also been reading @ilovecherries posts re: feeling a bit weird about how hard it is not to shop and I’ve been feeling exactly the same. I had made progress in trying not to shop so much but I really just want to buy all of the things at the minute which doesn’t feel good. For me I think it’s the anticipation of summer and wanting everything lovely to wear, but when the warm weather actually gets here I know I’ll realise I have so much already and there’s only so many bags/pairs of sandals/lip glosses/dresses I can wear.

Noeggsontoast · 09/05/2023 19:32

Just caught up on the new video and it's really changed my mind over the original
Items in the drop I liked the most. My head is most turned by the Maeve dress in mango with the alpaca green linen cardigan. I have this cardigan already but in an oatmeal colour. I don't think it's going to be a great summer so I'm very much limiting summer purchases this year.

I had the opportunity to wear the wrap jumpsuit last night for a meal out and had compliments. It makes feel good with or without a compliment and that's all that matters.

ilovecherries · 09/05/2023 19:48

My arms are a disaster just now. They weren’t great before - typical older woman arms I guess with a bit of flabbiness but slap on the fake tan and they were smooth enough. But after being so unwell after my hip replacement I lost 17lbs really quickly and now there is no flab, just loose wrinkly skin. It’s like paper. It’s daft to be upset by it, but I am. It goes right down to my elbows. My bum is the same (well on one side, the other side is still very swollen), but at least no one inadvertently SEES my bum, and I assume that those that do love me despite it.

Stoic123 · 09/05/2023 20:31

I'm not feeling inspired by the new stuff so have gone back to look at a few older items. Can anyone on here help with questions I have on a couple of items?

  • Sailor Collar Wool Cotton Sweater in Mallard Green - really like the colour. Does it look like that in real life? Is the collar obtrusive? What is sizing like?
  • Seamless Wool Cashmere Neat Sweater in Pebble. How neat is neat? Is an L for 12-14 going to be too small? Is colour nice - more brown than photo?
Any thoughts/comments would much appreciated.
OftenOrange · 09/05/2023 20:36

I’m not planning to buy new drop pieces as I have similar , and also unworn recent purchases: wrap jumpsuit, trailing Ikat skirt from sale etc.
If I were in the market for another dress I’d go for the Maeve too. Love the square neck. I love the cut of the cross back number too, but not so keen on the fabric . So much brown around this year.
I suppose my arms are no oil painting now I’m older ,very scrawny and veiny and all the rest , but I decided to take the route of fully exposing them in Summer because we are in a hot country .

OftenOrange · 09/05/2023 21:36

@Stoic123 I think that the Mallard Green sweater is beautiful , early on in the season I was at my local store and a lady came in , tried it and bought it , all within 5 mins . It looked fantastic on her , I think the colour lit her up .
It seems quite a relaxed shape , I didn’t notice the collar being too much .

Stoic123 · 09/05/2023 21:39

Thanks @OftenOrange - it is a gorgeous colour. Might keep eye out for it in the sale.

Countmeout · 10/05/2023 09:05

I thought the dress Nicki was wearing was lovely in that colour way, looked nicer colours than on the website but not a dress I need in my life. I also liked how they styled the Molloy dress. My favourite Maeve dress is the coral coloured one. But I don’t need a dress certainly not a full priced dress

I do love the embroidered skirt and top. Pity it didn’t appear to have an elasticated waist like the other one.

The denim trousers seem very popular and look great on you @Laska2Meryls .I was surprised by the weight.

I keep seeing the tie front tank in brown - anyone else? But it’s not yet on the website. So so far haven’t bought anything.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 10/05/2023 10:01

Nothing really grabbed me in the video, and the sea kelp skirt and dress that I liked looked much browner than they do on the website.

I was going to console myself with some socks but my blue cotton rib socks have started to unravel from the top, so I’m a bit cross about that. I’ve looked at how to repair them but I think I would need elastic thread and I don’t have any in my sewing box and would need to buy that.

Snowyowl78 · 10/05/2023 12:02

@ilovecherries fyi theres one of those lime check dresses on Vinted, it’s a large

ilovecherries · 10/05/2023 12:58

Oh, thanks Dudsville. It would need altered but to a degree that might be manageable.

ilovecherries · 10/05/2023 13:00

I’m currently incensed by bloody dhl. I paid for pre 1pm delivery for my wrap jumpsuit. At 30 seconds before 1 I get a photo of an unrecognisable door with my precious parcel sitting outside.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 10/05/2023 13:33

What a pain @ilovecherries I’ve had the same trouble in the past with DHL deliveries, although the helpline is very polite and tries to help, I’ve usually resorted to wandering round our village until I can locate the parcel myself.

OftenOrange · 10/05/2023 16:11

@Theteapotsbrokenspout The socks shouldn’t fall apart at that price , I would either ask for a replacement or send it to the Toast repair team !

OftenOrange · 10/05/2023 16:13

@ilovecherries What a nerve they have, so slapdash , I hope you get the jumpsuit safely and soon .

MiracleToast · 10/05/2023 16:13

My kindred mug is chipped! First time using and in the dishwasher. I’m not having much luck with things breaking at the moment, what with the oil burner second edition cracking. The good news is the description of the mug says if it does chip it’ll oxidise and be fine. Bit sad though.

I thought the colour was awful on her. The stringer colours ( green etc( are much nicer for her.

I only noticed this morning so I'm not sure what I'm going to do, I guess it's because they have a roll top finish. But I agree they're certainly not cheap.

@MiracleToast that's annoying, I hope the quality of Toast is not in decline.

I've had a similar sock experience with the cottony ones, they seem to have disappeared from the website but the slouchy cotton think they were around £22 and go baggy almost immediately after wearing.
