Also they would get a lot of people returning to ebay to add feedback then being tempted to spend more.

I tend to forget to give feedback. Without it, I agree, you have no idea of the seller. Ebay is sadly not what it used to be.

ilovecherries · 06/05/2023 16:28

Lots of buying/selling and seeking already happening on the new Facebook group. If people want to join, you don’t have to give your MN name, so there is no way of connecting your FB to your MN user name, if anyone was worried about losing their MN anonymity. Anyway, just a quick reminder that the new buy and sell group is at https://m.facebook.com/groups/1160195877986050/

@MiracleToast - have you tried the Sweater Stone you bought?

I'm loving mine. More effective than my electric debobbler!

ScottishMouse · 06/05/2023 19:51

@Stoic123 , how exactly does the sweater stone work? I love my electric debobbler, so am intrigued by something that is even better!

MiracleToast · 06/05/2023 19:54

@Stoic123 no—it arrived yesterday and my plan is to wash and prep everything before putting away (optimistic for highlands). It looks lovely though, just like a pumice stone! It doesn’t have any instructions so any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Stoic123 · 06/05/2023 19:59

@ScottishMouse /@MiracleToast - I just gently rub it across the bobbly areas of my jumpers and it debobbles them. No pressure needed. The fluff sticks to the stone so I just pause to pick it off once in a while.

@MiracleToast - give it a little test!

I've bought 3 more for future presents.

Stoic123 · 06/05/2023 20:00

@ScottishMouse - I might just have a rubbish debobbler!

ScottishMouse · 06/05/2023 20:04

Thanks @Stoic123 I don’t think my debobbler is anything special, just a cheap Amazon purchase I’ve had for years. The stone sounds like it might be worth a go though. Thanks!

In better times communication with buyers/sellers was really cordial , and I really miss that. I haven’t sold any Toast , maybe Toast buyers are a bit more congenial ??

ilovecherries · 08/05/2023 10:13

I have cracked and ordered the wrap jumpsuit. First new purchase this year, although I have bought a couple of preloved Toast items I’m waiting delivery on. It will need to be perfect to keep but I’m excited!

dudsville · 08/05/2023 10:45

It's been soooo hard not shopping, so many times I've just bunged things into a basket. I think as a result of reading all the selling talk on here I even dreamed about toast last night, that I'd sold a dress I very much love, and the buyer wore it in front me of and L was filled with regret. Odd pointless dream as I'll never sell this dress. I'm hoping for a sale in 5 weeks. I'm loving hearing about all your purchases!

Snowyowl78 · 08/05/2023 12:24

@ilovecherries its the best! Hope you like it. My most favourite purchase I think!

I’ve been quite disturbed by how hard I’ve found not buying if I’m honest. But it’s not that I’m in any way deprived - I have loads of clothes, it just really started to feel wrong (for me) to buy more. I did make one cos order but had buyers remorse before it even arrived and sent it all back. I am still hunting for two dresses I allowed to get away - the Tala dress in either colour (they did it in blue and pesto) and a lime green linen checked dress. I’d buy them like a shot if they appeared second hand.

ilovecherries · 08/05/2023 12:30

One of the things I’m waiting on is the twill shirt/jacket. I already have that and worn it loads but it’s got curry sauce all down the back. Don’t even ask! I’ve been looking to replace it for a while and I’m going to take the damaged one to the Edinburgh store the next time I go there to see if they think visible darning is an option. It’s quite a big splatter though so I’m not sure if it will work. The other is the poplin palm print dress from a couple of years back. It’s a bit of a deviation for me but I’m a total sucker for a poplin dress and nearly all my current ones are too big.

Snowyowl78 · 08/05/2023 12:31

@ilovecherries have you not bought anything in the sales either? I am very impressed as your non buying. I’m going to have to rein it in now I think, spent too much this season on dresses and 3 jumpsuits!!
Did you know you can put an alert on eBay so if they do come up you can swoop in? I don’t think you can do the same on a inter though.

ilovecherries · 08/05/2023 12:32

But they were both really good second hand bargains and I’ve convinced myself that as long as I’m not buying new, then it’s ok!

No, nothing. Was one of the reasons I went quiet here (the other was a hip replacement that brought several unpleasant complications!). I just decided that I had to stop and reset for a bit and then I could start looking at preloved. It had all started to feel a bit compulsive tbh.

Snowyowl78 · 08/05/2023 12:39

@ilovecherries well done! I’ve been buying too much, I’ve justified it by selling a lot on vinted lately, and I’ve made quite a lot of money, but obviously with Toast prices you need to sell ALOT!

ilovecherries · 08/05/2023 12:39

If I actually ‘need’ anything - new bras or socks, mascara runs out, running shoes split, stuff like that, then I just get it, and if I get a gift card (I have a £200 one which I’m putting towards this jumpsuit), then it’s fine. But otherwise no. Although I did just buy a leopard walking stick by telling myself it was a medical device! I was so relieved to ditch my crutches after 8 weeks I didn’t want to use a horrible NHS stick for the next three months.

Stravaig · 08/05/2023 12:41

@ilovecherries You could ask for some kind of appliqué or patch, worked in with visible mending.

faustina · 08/05/2023 13:27

I'd love to see the result of your 'renewed' twill shirt @ilovecherries - please post a pic here

I'm also trying to be more intentional in my buying and I'm trying to ebay things I though would work but I just never seem to have used - quite a lot of that! I've only had one minor seller's remorse episode, but have remedied that now

Laska2Meryls · 08/05/2023 14:35

Here are the Panelled Trousers just arrived ( surprised!) .. These are M . Annoyingly the S ( which I prefer around the bum and top of legs) are just a tiny bit small on the hip and pull when I sit down these are a bit baggy on the bum... But am keeping and embracing Carpenter style . They are full length on me but I like them rolled up... Nice thickish denim but soft .

They look nice on you @Laska2Meryls - I'm a bit surprised that they're thick denim - I was thinking they'd be lightweight

Laska2Meryls · 08/05/2023 16:12

Id say mid weight tbh... And I am still wearing them !
They aren't stretching ( have been down in front of laptop for last hour) so I can confidently say that size 12 is definitely a M .

@ilovecherries , i also get dismayed over my struggle to not shop, but for me it's just about sitting with that dismay and i can do that. I feel that restricting myself to toast sales has been a real step forward, but this is on the back of going absolutely cold turkey several yrs back. I can't remember how long i did it for but there was a great thread at the time, very reflective about why individual posters shopped. I learned a lot about myself and i have largely held the ground i gained with that experience. It helps that everything i own now i love so much that I feel it's a waste of these items to just always get more. So many toast items are unique - no two dresses, tops, any of the knitwear or pjs/nightdresses of mine are the same, but i do have some repetition in skirts and cord trousers so I've had to nip that in the bud. From now on anything i buy will be for pure fun!

I have the palm print poplin and it's lovely, very easy to wear, hope you get one.

I'll also be curious to hear what they think of your curry stain.

Sorry to hear about your hip replacement and complications, you did well to not shop.

Those trousers look really great on you @Laska2Meryls , and perfect with your top!
