My eBay purchase of a Toast three quarter sleeve tee shirt has arrived.

Ok, it’s purple stripe instead of the brown it looked online 🤣 and it is a bit small, but it’s beautiful and in fantastic condition. I am very pleased!

dudsville · 30/04/2023 11:24

I've looked into going to my nearest shop for a swap, it would be a journey on a day that I woudln't normally be going that way, and I now have the fear that I woudl relinquish someting in great condition and not fid anything I like in return, so it's back in my closet!

Dee1224 · 30/04/2023 11:30

I was thinking about taking my pop up dress purchase to the exchange but it takes me a long time to get to a shop, and although it’s too small for me, I like it with a jumper over the top.

Has anyone here ever got anything decent at an exchange/circle? My sister goes often and has handed over really decent stuff for tokens and then not been able to find anything. She’s been left with the feeling she should have either sold her items on eBay or kept them.

I think it’s a great idea, but not if they don’t have good quality items in sufficient quality to make it worthwhile people’s time and effort.

In answer to your question -no.
Whenever I've considered taking nice but it doesn't quite fit stuff, I've been faced with rails of bobbly jumpers, tired and worn dresses and tops etc.
Nothing worth having.
Tbh if it's in good condition and relatively current I would go for ebay every time or pay for alterations

AFingerofFudge · 30/04/2023 11:44

When the permanent circle at Dering St was there i found it to be (most of the time) excellent. I got a fabulous jacket, some gabis, a kingfisher coloured v neck cardigan amongst other things.
The one I went to at my local shop last time was the one with tired knitwear and worn out trousers.

Dee1224 · 30/04/2023 11:57

I do think it might be better to have a few stores with permanent Circle/Exchange items then they could build up a stock of good stuff.

faustina · 30/04/2023 12:40

@Countmeout - they look like the perfect length on you, and what a lovely colour they are!

I've never managed to get to a circle event - good luck to any of you who do. Can you not take your things back if you don't see anything you want?

Gonegrey31 · 30/04/2023 12:54

Faustina I took 5 lovely and in perfect condition items to the last Circle event but was so unimpressed by what was on the swap rail that I declined leaving my items . My dd has since sold 2 of the items on her Depop online store for much more than I had expected.

Dee1224 · 30/04/2023 13:10

@Countmeout - those trousers look lovely - much nicer colour irl than online when I was looking. Will definitely check out next time I am in Marks and Spencer’s!

faustina · 30/04/2023 14:39

@Gonegrey31 - I've never tried Depop, I always use Ebay and get good prices there. What kind of price did she get - just eg for one item, if you don't mind saying?

mizu · 30/04/2023 16:28

Well the TOAST Circle in Cheltenham was a bit blah 😕- I did get a lovely three quarter length boxy green stripy T which I know I'll wear but it was slim pickings!

I took two dresses which got picked up straight away.

I was in town anyway today so went back in a couple of times but there was nothing new.

Such a shame as it's a brilliant idea.

Gonegrey31 · 30/04/2023 16:48

Faustina £80 each for two summer dresses I think . I’m now sorry I sold them !

AFingerofFudge · 30/04/2023 17:01

Ha! @mizu that is also my local one which I was also at. Yes, it was pretty rubbish. We might have been there at the same time!!!

faustina · 30/04/2023 20:09

@Gonegrey31 - that is a good price!

dudsville · 01/05/2023 09:23

I just "shopped" toast by putting things onto the saved list, which I'll delete at some point. I'm really hoping a few things make it into a sale, in particular i like the ruffled collar slubby shirts. Anyone have this?

faustina · 01/05/2023 15:43

Can I just show off my beautiful Bleu de Chauffe bag which arrived today? Toast only have the orange left - this was on sale at Mr Porter and I love the tobacco colour

Toasties:- Spring frocks and socks?
Stoic123 · 01/05/2023 17:33

@faustina - that's lovely. Gorgeous colour.

MiracleToast · 01/05/2023 19:03

I love that @faustina —I have the bleu de chauffe teeny wee bag and I absolutely love it. Yours looks gorgeous.

faustina · 01/05/2023 19:28

Thanks so much both of you! I'm afraid I can't do tiny bags (made a few expensive mistakes there) but I'm always envious of people who can. It is very strokable as it's suede, and it smells amazing!

dudsville · 01/05/2023 20:37

Nice bag @faustina!

My day had two dull highs. 1) I learned that folding my knitwear properly actual does make more room. And then I de-bobbled the main culprits - the alpaca jumpers. 2) the stack check dress from a couple of sales ago never gets worn so I've turned it into a shirt. I'm wondering if I can wear it out with the matching trousers or if it will look like pjs.

The day was spent in the french blue check dress with an arket cardi in a colour of brown I just realised i don't know how to describe... off to google.

dudsville · 01/05/2023 21:09

Chestnut maybe?

Firesideknitting · 01/05/2023 21:50

Hello everyone, I’m wondering if there’s a sale due soon ?. I’m on the look out for some more bedding, hubby has slept on the toast bedding and requesting some more !,

MiracleToast · 01/05/2023 22:38

I feel there will be one soon. And there has been bedding in all the sales I’ve been aware of recently. Is there any particular you’d like?

I congratulated myself today with purchasing the sweater stone that is back in stock.

Countmeout · 02/05/2023 07:58

Lovely bag @faustina . I can imagine it smells delicious.

Well they’ll have to be quick with a sale. There’s obviously new stuff appearing next week. I wish they’d do another Kindred pre view.

Snowyowl78 · 02/05/2023 08:19

I wasn’t thinking there would be a sale until the middle of June, that’s what I think happened the last 2 years. Why do people think there will be one soon? Did I miss one?
