Here we are again, and this time looking forward to the warmer weather , putting away our comfy woolies ( and new season's dresses).

Everyone welcome ..

"It’s a nice but weird realisation that buying for the sake of buying just isn’t a thing." Absolutely @Saurus72 ! I literally pulled out all my toast dresses and thought i love them all, why would I buy more?

I've been really drawn to the whole outfit in @Dee1224 's pic, but it's just yet another lovely casual outfit, i have lots of lovely outfits! As for the price, i stand by waiting to see what goes in a sale as the prices are extortionate for me.

Stravaig · 19/04/2023 20:55

Oh my, that dress! I'm seeing bird poop on lichen.

is this also new?

I also have enough in terms of trousers and T-shirts. I am still always looking for every day dresses though, I have probably about 8 toast dresses but 4 of them I feel are a bit dressed up for my lifestyle, so I am still awaiting drops for weekend day dresses. I feel like the black jersey v neck one fits the bill perfectly!

Oh no @Firesideknitting ! I once tried on a new pair of toast gloves with another shop's coat i was considering, returned the coat and didn't realise until ages later that I'd sent back the damn gloves. Hope your socks have just rolled under something or nestled into an awkward spot! Are they muted or an easy to spot colour?

The navy Mauna slub socks, so would easily be mistaken for random socks, other than his feet are twice mine !… never mind, I’ve ordered a replacement pair ..

dudsville · 19/04/2023 13:52

Well, sad news, I've got the week off at home and I was swapping out winter for summer stuff (yes it's cold here too, jumpers and cords are still easily accessible!), and it turns out i don't really have room for any new clothes! The next big sale will be hard on me!

Ditto on the sale dilemma… I have so many toast items, almost all my clothes are toast, the sales are incredible and I get some real good bargains, but unless it’s a total love I genuinely don’t need anything else, oh other than socks !,

Countmeout · 20/04/2023 07:09

The bird poop is slightly more palatable on the mens shorts in the orange colour way.
They do sometimes do a pattern to death.

@dudsville inspired me to get started on the clothing switch , and at the same time I’m doing a big cull on the old clothes stash .
Interesting that a few pieces from 10 yrs ago are unexpectedly wearable with current styles .
However most of it is either too mutton now, or just no longer pleasing , and so off it goes.
Having collected clothes over decades , I really feel bogged down by them all now.

I found first moth hole in a Toast garment,it’s an unusual knitted capelet thing in teal …can be worn over a dress or jumper.
It must be 9 yrs or more old , I’m hoping that they will repair it with something inventive.

neveradullmoment99 · 20/04/2023 17:35

I had several moth holes in a lovely top that I had. Just a cotton striped vest, bought in sale but loved to death. I repaired it myself and did a kind of invisible mend on it. It was a striped burgundy and red. Its ok to wear now and feel a bit proud of it as I am definitely no seamstress. Moths are a huge pain. I have stuff in all my drawers and jumpers are kept in clear lidded boxes.

OftenOrange · 20/04/2023 18:06

@neveradullmoment99 Yes, I’ve learnt the hard way after loosing lots of very nice jumpers over the years. I’m washing all the woollies, then into ziplock storage bags and the big plastic storage boxes . Like my mother, I’m obsessed with jumpers and the more I buy , the more need washing and storing.
When I was a student I had just the one jumper …happy days !

dudsville · 20/04/2023 18:08

I fear moths but have no evidence of them, but I made lavender sachets with lavender from our own garden, whilst holding an artful stick and mushroom, to crowd around my knitwear!

In other news, i bought the olive check shirt dress in the last sale, and as i was cutting off the care label i noticed it was ta tencil linen mix, not my usual 100% cotton. I wore it for the first time today and i think I'll struggle to get a second wear before washing. Is this normal for tencil? I also don't like the feel of it but i like the dress and it goes v nicely with some oxblood dm boots so I'm happy overall, but usually i get a few wears from a dress which, post pandemic usually means two outfits a work week.

Firesideknitting · 20/04/2023 21:14

I’ve got my eye on some of the bedding … mainly bed sets, I was going to order from piglet in bed, but it’s crazy prices, more than double toast with a discount as well… so how does the bedding fair ?. Washing etc ? I’ve pretty much always bought bedding from the white company, but nothing is jumping out at me presently…

MiracleToast · 20/04/2023 21:27

@Firesideknitting I’m a recent Toast bedding convert, having had white company & linen previously. I am hooked on the Toast now and only buy in sale. Washing at 60 and tumbling fine.

Stoic123 · 20/04/2023 21:29

@dudsville - is that the one that is the same cut as the recent Plum Check dress?

If so, odd that different material (Plum is 100% Cotton)

Snowyowl78 · 20/04/2023 22:45

If you’re looking for linen bed covers, I recently bought h&m ones and they’re really good. They do generate a lot of fluff in the dryer, unsure why!

dudsville · 21/04/2023 07:07

I know@Stoic123 ,I'd previously tried the plum one so i made an assumption they would be the same material.

Noeggsontoast · 21/04/2023 07:17

@Firesideknitting we have piglet in bed bedding. Yes expensive but imo very much worth it for a very hot sleeper! Washes beautifully, no shedding and very soft. I think I had a 50% discount initially when I bought the first set, the loyalty points on that purchase then gave me quite a big discount towards a further set. It's the only bedlinen I'll buy now.

neveradullmoment99 · 21/04/2023 08:13

dudsville · 21/04/2023 07:07

I know@Stoic123 ,I'd previously tried the plum one so i made an assumption they would be the same material.

I love the material of the olive check dress. Not worn it yet though!

TerrierOrTerror · 21/04/2023 10:00

It is definitely a very different material. I love wearing the plum check dress a lot more.

dudsville · 21/04/2023 10:56

I think it was still quite pricey in the sale at about £110 so I'm a little annoyed with myself. I think it must be a high summer kind of material, and then would definitely be a single wear between washes. It just crumpled so badly.

I'm wearing the bracken neat cardi today for the first time and love it so much, and it was a bargain at about £65.

Dee1224 · 21/04/2023 18:34

Hi,

The lotus leaf trousers arrived today and are going straight back, unfortunately. They were a good length on me - ankle, but even in Small they were far too baggy on the crotch. The pattern placement was also a bit weird. At the back, I looked like I had a bushy tail!

In the unlikely event that they are available in the sale, I might try again, as I liked the feeling of the material, but they didn’t fit anywhere near well enough to pay full price.

I am also returning the crossover jumpsuit in medium. Again too baggy on the crotch, but also too gappy on the bust, even with a tee underneath. The Small I tried on previously fitted much better everywhere except the waist🥲.

Disappointing, but better for my bank balance!

mizu · 21/04/2023 21:37

@dudsville I love my bracken neat cardi too, such a beautiful colour and flattering shape.

MiracleToast · 21/04/2023 21:57

My oil burner has cracked—again! This is the second one. I don’t know what’s going on, I haven’t left it unattended and have always topped it up so it’s never dry when lit. So frustrating as it’s so useful and lovely. Has anyone else had any issues, or am I just unlucky?

dudsville · 22/04/2023 15:02

That must be so disappointing, I don't have one @MiracleToast , but it's certainly worth speaking to Toast. Have you tried them?

Today I'm in an odd pairing of stack check trousers with an alpaca easy jumper a size or two too big - my newly designated home jumper since shrinking the last one!

neveradullmoment99 · 22/04/2023 16:52

Im not in Toast at all today. I have an all saints t-shirt on and a pair of autograph flare jeans and an old pair of old crime london trainers. Ive done a bit of curly girl on my hair also. Trying hard to give my hair a bit of a break of heat tools as its silver and it can discolour it if it is too warm, giving it a yellow tinge.
Today I received two things from Toast. 2 pairs of socks [ the pale marl mauna kea slub socks and also a pair of cumin red active breeze socks. They are both fabulous. The active breeze socks are superfine and great for wearing in the summer and with sandals not maybe in that colour.
I finally ordered the navy balloon trousers. Both the small and medium. @Laska2Meryls you are completely correct. The small are tiny. The medium are even smaller than the fenugreek colourway. I am keeping the mediums. I love them. The fenugreek are definitely old sizing. The navy are true to size.

neveradullmoment99 · 22/04/2023 16:55

The navy ones are definitely smaller around the ankle as I can roll them up whereas they would not stay in the fenugreek. I think they are definitely a neater cut all over.
