Hope things improve for your son @Firesideknitting .
Think I need a hubby now too!

AFingerofFudge · 14/04/2023 08:38

Yes hope things go well @Firesideknitting
My DH is the one that sits in the chair in Toast taking no notice whatsoever of the clothes on display and rolls his eyes when I buy "another" item of clothing Grin He's a good egg too really but sadly has no interest in Toast, or clothes in general!

Ahh my hubby loves toast, he picked a good few items yesterday, as well as is very indulgent in toast. We picked up a bead spread too for the guest room, he picked that out .. I’ve ordered the trousers and jacket I was initially after oh and another pair of socks.

Laska2Meryls · 14/04/2023 09:35

Wow @Firesideknitting fantastic haul, what a treat... I was thinking of that apple linen jumper... Is it soft? I remember ordering one in the sale maybe a couple of years ago and it had a very 'crunchy' texture.. so I didn't keep it..
So sorry to hear about your son.. I hope he improves ..

It’s a little stiff/crunchy. But it will most certainly soften with wear and laundering. The colour is wonderful and feels so light weight for cooler summer evenings.

AFingerofFudge · 14/04/2023 09:58

Total dream @Firesideknitting
Can we all go shopping with him Grin

Firesideknitting · 14/04/2023 10:01

Haha, he’s a real goodie, shame Toast clothes don’t fit him, otherwise he’d wear exclusively Toast too…

Stoic123 · 14/04/2023 11:53

Ha- hubby envy going on.

My boyfriend is lovely but would be aghast at Toast prices. We live separately and no shared finances, so he need never know. He does compliment the odd dress.

dudsville · 14/04/2023 12:45

I think my husband was shocked by my style change over the last several years. He's acclimatised, and willing to buy identified toast things as presents, but he's a socialist so I've no hope of a windfall shopping extravaganza!

MaroonedOnADesertIsland · 14/04/2023 13:34

Intrigued as to what your style change has been @dudsville
My dh is aware of my liking toast and I usually get a joke toast(ed bread) based birthday card. Wish it was a voucher though!

Stoic123 · 14/04/2023 14:14

@dudsville - from Daphne to Velma? 😀

dudsville · 14/04/2023 15:38

That made me laugh out loud @Stoic123 , I've never been as glamorous as Daphne and have probably always leaned a little towards Velma! Up until about 5 yrs ago I had a uniform of sorts of fitted cord trousers, fitted button up shirts, with a thin cotton or merino jumper and brogues or loafers, all at the dark end of the colour pallet though i rarely wore all black. I used to get up early for work and had 12 hr days and this was comfortable, smart enough for my job, and easy in that i didn't have to think about it. I never invested in home wear so was either in pjs or an old tee shirt and not nice sweats.

With Toast I've moved to loose fit, more colour, more shapes as opposed to everything just fitted, i am more adventurous with what i pair together re colours and patterns, and also now love dresses and skirts, and my knitwear is more interesting, my pjs are fabulous and my other home wear is interesting too. I've kept the old cords and shoes as they're good quality and i might like them again some day, but I've got rid of the old jumpers and shirts.

Anyone made a style shift?

dudsville · 14/04/2023 15:40

Else, anyone else made a style shift!

Stoic123 · 15/04/2023 08:49

@dudsville - not a conscious one.

Till recently, I never spent time, effort or money on clothes. I've always liked relaxed shapes and comfort but Toast has helped show me that a decent cut and detail can make a difference, even you are wearing things loose.

Noodle421 · 15/04/2023 10:33

My kindred mushroom mug arrived today with my Ashley jeans, which I buy on repeat. Both the blue and black are absolute staples in my wardrobe. I love the mug !! It’s so cute. My coffee tastes extra especially good in it (with no taste of mushroom, I promise). I’m loving catching up with all the Toast talk here but am dipping in and out more these days as the enthusiasm is infectious and I’m tempted to spend +++ It doesn’t take much for my resolve to crumble !!

Noodle421 · 15/04/2023 10:39

Having told everyone I’m trying to reign in my Toast habit, I do have my eye on the gingham seersucker cotton dress. Can anyone tell me what the sizing is like please? I’m an Toast size 10 in the old sizing but more realistically a high street size 12.

Snowyowl78 · 15/04/2023 11:06

@Noodle421 whats the fit and sizing like on the Ashley jeans? I have stopped wearing jeans but wondering if maybe I should make an exception if they are comfy?

Noodle421 · 15/04/2023 11:32

Hi @Snowyowl78 I find the Ashley jeans a very straightforward fit. I’m a regular Toast size 10 (still a size 10 with the new sizing), but can be a size 12, even a 14 in other high street brands. They feel a little snug to start with but there is quite a lot of give in the material after a couple of wears and I’m very pleased I didn’t size up. They are forgiving with my slight tummy and I like the back pockets as they give more definition to my slightly flat bum ( in previous years I’ve tried the Annie side button jeans in the same size - beautiful shape but top button way too tight and no back pockets = pancake bum). I’m a pear shape and the wide legs suit me. I’m 5 ft 7 and there is a definite crop but not a silly sized gap. They sit above the ankle but below the widest part of my calf. They go with everything and look fairly stylish IMO. Only drawback is there’s a gap between my ankle boot and trouser which I’m not so keen on in winter, so I wear shoes/trainers or long boots instead. The black also fades over time which looks more shabby than the faded indigo, but you get that with any black denim. I try to wash as little as possible in cold water and that seems to add to longevity.

Noodle421 · 15/04/2023 11:33

And yes, I find the Ashley’s very comfortable. I live in them and comfort is a top priority for me.

Snowyowl78 · 15/04/2023 11:54

@Noodle421 ooh thank you for the info, they sound perfect! I might try them out when the next drop turns up. I’m more interested in the indigo ones, and they do sound like they would be comfortable!

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 15/04/2023 12:09

My Fenugreek balloon trousers in the medium have arrived and surprisingly they are quite a good fit. I have managed to order a pair in the small as well, arriving next week, so I shall have a comparison.
Pleased that I managed to get them in the end, and, despite having spent the money I'd set aside for them on plants, I will definitely be keeping a pair.

Noeggsontoast · 15/04/2023 12:53

I'm a big fan of Ashley jeans too. I have two indigo, a black and a green pair. They are so comfortable especially on the tummy. I hope they never discontinue them.

neveradullmoment99 · 15/04/2023 12:54

Ive the ashley's in black and blue. The are quite flattering but personally i much prefer the annies. I also have them in black and blue. The top button is ridiculously tight. I have them all, including the ashley's in a size 14. The annie's have a bit more stretch. They are true to size. I have the middle age spread going on so maybe if you havent any tummy or waist issues, you could size down.

neveradullmoment99 · 15/04/2023 12:55

I should say the annies have a ridiculously tight top button which ive moved.
