ive just bought this dress for a wedding in July but now I’m having second thoughts.
it looked all floaty and romantic in the changing room but now I’m wondering if it looks like a nighty? Now I’ve got that thought in my head I can’t get rid of it!
what do you think pls?

I like it. It does not look like a nightie!

BCBird · 21/03/2023 18:49

It hard to dsy. It looks like yiu are quite slim, but this dress doesnt show that. How u feel in it is the most important.

Candleabra · 21/03/2023 18:49

I don’t think it looks like a nightie. It does look floaty and fussy but if you like that sort of thing then it’s fine. I think it’s the ribbon round the waist and the hem flounce along with the busy floral pattern that make it a bit much for me.

I don't mind the flounce in the skirt, but whole heartedly agree on the ribbon around the waist it's just fussy and drab in equal parts, otherwise it's a nice dress.

Missuspotatohead · 21/03/2023 19:09

If I’m brutally honest it reminds me of a floral duvet and looks very frumpy. It’s also difficult to say without knowing what you usually wear. If it’s the norm for you then it may not be too bad.

Chewbecca · 21/03/2023 19:11

It’s not a bad dress and perfectly flattering but I think you can do better, a bit funkier.

Fuckitydoodah · 21/03/2023 19:15

I don't hate it, but I don't love it either. If you're not sure about it now, then that won't change before the wedding. I'd take it back and look around for something different.

Jesko · 21/03/2023 19:24

I think it's very frumpy tbh. I find short sleeves generally very inelegant.

SiobhanSharpe · 21/03/2023 19:27

I think if the OP liked funkier styles she wouldn't have bought that dress. Which is absolutely fine for a summer wedding, BTW, it looks nice, it suits her, and does not look like a nightie. If you feel comfortable in it OP then go for it.

Penguinsaregreat · 21/03/2023 19:29

No it doesn’t look like a nightie. I think it’s fine for a wedding.

iloveburmese3 · 21/03/2023 19:30

I love it! You look fabulous - don't worry x

loobylou10 · 21/03/2023 19:30

I think it's really pretty and you look lovely.

MysteryBelle · 21/03/2023 19:39

It’s pretty and feminine. You look very nice.

Quent · 21/03/2023 19:51

I think it looks pretty and summery. I'd try tying the belt so the bow was at the back, though?

Wherethewildthymeblows · 21/03/2023 19:56

It's not my style but it looks totally appropriate for a wedding, fits you well, and looks nothing like a nightie! If you like it, wear it.

Imallovertheplace · 21/03/2023 20:03

Thanks all for your comments. I’m not a dress person, I live in jeans so I’m not at all confident in it. Glad it doesn’t look like a nighty thought. No doubt, I’ll wear it the once and then it’ll never be seen again

I don’t hate it but you have a lovely figure and the flouncy bits aren’t making the best of it.
Having said that you look fine in it.

OnaBegonia · 21/03/2023 20:11

Agree with PPs, very frumpy and fussy; tiered, tie waist, under boob gathers, you could go for something a bit more flattering to your figure.

TennisWithDeborah · 21/03/2023 20:16

It looks frumpy to me tbh. It’s not like a nighty though, the quality looks too good.

ArcticBells · 21/03/2023 20:16

I like it and think you look lovely Smile

CC4712 · 21/03/2023 20:19

Being brutally honest, the style isn't flattering nor showing off your body well, and the pattern is like an 80's floral duvet.

If you are more comfortable in jeans, what about a jumpsuit instead? With a belt to accentuate your waist?

If you like the dress, maybe a better, more uplifting bra will add curves and shape, and make it sit better.

Capricornone1 · 21/03/2023 20:22

how old are you OP?

greenspaces4peace · 21/03/2023 20:22

it's aging, for me it's the mauve color (and the style). i would reserve this for the 70-80 yr olds.

BHRK · 21/03/2023 20:33

I like it and think it’s perfect for a wedding

LadyVictoriaSponge · 21/03/2023 20:42

I agree I would expect to see that on a woman 75 plus.
