This must be an excellent time for bra designers, decades spent arranging floral patterns then you get a few years of BDSM styling before it's back to the flowery patterns and odd bit of leopard skin. This must be a golden age!

"At what size should diversity stop then?

I'd say for lingerie about a 14. Maybe a 16 if toned."

The average clothes size in the UK is a 16. Why shouldn't people see people like them reflected in adverts? Everyone wears bras and knickers regardless of their size. We don't live in a perfect world where everyone is a perfect 10.

I'm a size 16 myself

It's bad enough catching a glimpse of myself in the mirror after a bath

wincarwoo · 15/03/2023 13:32

I am lost at the need to comment really. We haven't gone back to puritanical times that I'm aware.

‘To me, your lingerie which is more risqué…’

Risqué?!!!! Alert the church elders!

That’s not what I meant to say… “their lingerie which they’re marketing as “risqué””.

I don’t think it looks that risqué really but it does look tacky! The harness style bras are very on trend!

I bet you are lovely BluebellBlueballs. When you're 70 you'll look back on how you look now and think how beautiful you looked. We are all so critical of ourselves 'Be careful what you say about yourself, you are always listening.'

Aurorabored · 15/03/2023 13:56

I wish Anya Hindmarsh would make some nipple pasties. Then we could have the bra that judges you right back.

ImAvingOops · 15/03/2023 14:03

Jeez, those are some ugly bras! Why on earth would anyone want all those straps sticking out through their clothes? And those bras are definitely not nice enough to wear instead of clothes!

If JL want to sell that stupid pink one that doesn't cover the nipples, they should have the balls to show it as the designer intended.

ImAvingOops · 15/03/2023 14:08

I liked seeing a big model - think it gives women a more realistic idea of how the bra will look. More women are closer to the big model than the very slim ones in body shape imo.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 15/03/2023 07:50

Some of that brand isn’t bad, but would you pay £40 for this?! Hardly anything to it. Their other bras from the same brand (the sexy ones) look a bit desperate!

Is it just for women who don't have nipples?

I don't.

If you look at the men's underwear, the styles are more practical and none of the models look overweight.

ImAvingOops · 15/03/2023 14:31

"If you look at the men's underwear, the styles are more practical and none of the models look overweight."

I want to see fit looking men, (if I was ever inclined to buy men's undies) and realistic looking women when buying my own bras.
I guess whether realistic looking male models are used, should be down to what male customers prefer to see, when shopping. I've got no skin in that game since I think the men in my life are more than capable of buying their own pants!

Brokendaughter · 15/03/2023 14:34

Genuine question...

I really thought the cymbals were part of the bra.
I wouldn't want to put it on if it's a cold morning.

So, does it come with them or is that to cover up the fact it's a bra that isn't supposed to cover up the fact women have nipples?

I am concerned about how I'm supposed to know if I'll be getting the cymbals I thought I was paying for or not if I was to see something with them on I thought I liked.

(It might happen)

KirstenBlest · 15/03/2023 14:55

@ImAvingOops , I only looked at the male underwear to see if they had diversity. They had youngish men with toned bodies or no model. There was a diversity in skin colour. There were no overweight models.
I had a quick look at the menswear and found a large man modelling the big and tall range, but he didn't look as obviously overweight as the female model.

Sorry, are you saying that in all your years on this earth, presumably buying bras or at least being aware of them, you've never heard or seen a half cup bra before?

They are a thing. They aren't there to be worn while you clean the shower. Use your imagination, or at least try to.

PylaSheight · 15/03/2023 15:53

ThatLibraryMiss · 14/03/2023 23:55

What is going on with that bra? Has no-one ever told her how to put a bra on? The underwires are supposed to go in the crease under your breasts, not halfway to your waist. If they were in the right place she wouldn't need the cymbals.

My thoughts too. Why oh why would this have even got to website stage considering all the people who would've been involved. Did no one say "that bra isn't positioned right and it looks silly like that"? Confused

KalvinPhillipsBoots · 15/03/2023 16:03

Porn? 🙄

PylaSheight · 15/03/2023 16:05

Not for me and I like lingerie.

The company name "Playful Promises" just makes me cringe so much I'm recoiling, and that and the designs with the straps are way too try hard "sexy". It's like cheap tarty "sexy" with an over inflated price tag, clearly influenced by BDSM.

The only good thing I'll say is what a great idea to have their product photos filtered by model size

Always4Brenner · 15/03/2023 16:10

Sorry I hate every item here they are awful, those straps on the bra would be impossible for me comfort wise and doing up as I do the back up at the front then turn it around.

AlwaysLatte · 15/03/2023 16:35

Are you sure that's not 3 bras accidentally caught up together in the washing machine?

LanaDelRabies · 15/03/2023 16:52

miawallacesfeet · 14/03/2023 19:09

@LanaDelRabies really?

Yes, really.

I was a size 12 before I was put on steroid medication for an autoimmune disease, which also has left me unable to exercise.

HTH.

Oh, and stop judging others 💖

Why are we all so obsessed with saying the right thing? You are totally correct.

No she's not.

It can portray disordered eating. It can also portray illness, or treatment for and illness.

Every day's a school day, eh?

No, I knew they existed although I wouldn't think JL was the place to go to buy that sort of underwear.

I'm really asking about the cymbals because I genuinely did think they came with it.

I'm kind of fixated on the existence/non existence of boob cymbals now.
It's messing with my productivity.

I loathe my big bathroom mirror fitted to the wall I bleach it and make sure it’s smudged over most of it so I don’t have to see myself much in it. I’m size 20 now .

miawallacesfeet · 14/03/2023 19:05

@BentleyRhythmAce the person is obese which does portray disordered eating.

Not everyone who is overweight or obese has disordered eating. You can very easily gain weight just by eating too much over a length of time, not for any particular reason than you like big portions or you eat out a lot and so food is higher calorie. My biggest weight gain was when I cooked from scratch, Im like the galloping gourmet in terms of my cooking.

KirstenBlest · 15/03/2023 19:12

Not everyone who is thin has disordered eating.
