Playful bloody promises. Deary me.

OP posts:
YellowDots · 14/03/2023 22:05

say this as a fatty myself but I don't particularly want to see rolls of flab when perusing the lingerie pages.
Not saying every model has to be size 8 but this is embracing diversity a step too far

There are only two examples and in one the model is a size eight and in the other it doesn't come in a size eight.

I get that

I'm saying there could be something between these extremes

Windingdown · 14/03/2023 22:14

I don't think that model has 'rolls of flab'. She just looks like a regular, rounded, lived-a-life and enjoyed it woman to me.

SocksAndTheCity · 14/03/2023 22:15

I like the first set in black, and I'm pleased to see they actually go up to an H cup. It's not that long since anybody past a D (or DD if you were lucky) was stuck with the white or beige Playtex or Miss Mary of Sweden type stuff and had zero chance of getting anything fancy to wear.

If you don't like it, nobody is making you wear it. I don't like flowery midi dresses, so I don't wear them.

At what size should diversity stop then?

I'd say for lingerie about a 14. Maybe a 16 if toned.

@Windingdown when it glamorises something unhealthy

What are we being outraged about? It's hardly crotchless knickers. Or is this thinly veiled fat bashing?

The latter.

Comments like this make me laugh! How is it glamorousing something unhealthy?

Honestly when has a thin person ever looked at a fat model and decided ‘oooh they look nice - I’m going to get fat too!’ When has that ever happened?

‘Promoting obesity or glamourising being unhealthy’ isn’t a thing. I mean, unless these women start their own line of super high calorific shakes, then no. It’s not a thing.

What we are seeing is larger bodies modelling clothes so that people can see what the clothes look like on a bigger body. That’s it.They aren’t health gurus. They are models. Modelling clothes (well, lingerie).

Hartlebury · 14/03/2023 22:35

I don't know what kind of porn you watch OP but I'd put money on this underwear not being in any of it.

The body shaming is low, sort yourselves out, Christ.

My boobs would look absolutely brilliant in that pink one, and my partner would be beside himself. Minus the modesty cymbals.

Enjoy your silent missionary in your ankle length nightgown OP 😊

TheOGCCL · 14/03/2023 22:36

The vibe does seem a bit off for JL but they have probably gone for the milder options…

They used to have a couple of Agent Provocateur and then Bluebelle (?) so maybe this is their current iteration of middle of the road tasteful tarty underwear.🤷‍♀️

Burnamer · 14/03/2023 18:17

What’s wrong with the 2nd one specifically?

It doesn’t fit her?

neither do the red pants a bit later on

But its not glamourising anything. Its literally a "bigger body" in underwear.

I'm fat. I know I'm fat. I know I need to lose weight. I'm trying to lose weight (the health issues that caused the weight gain make this harder but I'm trying.) In the mean time I need clothes. I like to know what they might look like on me without having to fuck about ordering things and sending them back. Which I can't really afford to do.

If a fat woman dresses well and goes out in public, walking right down the street where everyone can see her, is that also ‘glamorising’ her shameful unhealthy body?

Should we all just wear sackcloth till we get down to a size 10, out of caution?

Redebs · 14/03/2023 22:49

Ugh, all those straps remind me of a hiking rucksack.
Handy for attaching a waterbottle, rolled-up cagoule and an emergency whistle maybe? Probably even find somewhere to tuck your Kendal mintcake...

FrangipaniBlue · 14/03/2023 22:50

I have one very similar to the green one but in red/black (from Next).

I wear it under a tux..... OUT IN PUBLIC!!

*gasp!!!!

If we don't show photos of people with eating disorders who are thin why of them fat?

I find the second pic a bit ott

Don't find the bras offensive

Well, we show pics of 2 moderate extremes: skinny stick-shaped (that'd be most models) and fat curvy people. In real life in the UK, most people fall somewhere in between. We don't generally show pics of skeletal people with eating disorders (at least not anymore) or morbidly obese shapeless people. And I say this as someone who's very skinny.

PopcornPoppingInAPan · 14/03/2023 23:00

Arapawa · 14/03/2023 18:13

To me this one is the opposite of sexy - as others say, it doesn’t event fit the model. It’s reminiscent of a parachute harness 🤷‍♀️ 🪂

Nolosomi · 14/03/2023 23:00

Lol, the ‘harness’ style bras actually look great under low cut tops for an edgy look - and actually can make a boring top or dress look interesting. Honestly - I’ve worn far more out there underwear… hardly porn - some of us like to wear sexy underwear and not just for our partners!

You're only supposed to look at whether you want to buy the clothes, not use it as wank fodder.

butterup · 14/03/2023 23:06

I'm also mildly wondering if this was mainly an excuse to post the 2nd link. There's much, much 'worse' on the JL website even just in the recommendations below that link
