Malala was the only frock I thought, yes I love it and yes, if they made that in size heifer I would wear it. And yes, even I could look sort of beautiful in it. Plus it would hide my trotters.
I care not for frocks like Cara’s - stunning though she is - that run the risk of your lulu being papped.
The world’s eyes are on you and wooopsy - four pouty lippies.
No thank you.

It is a shame.
I don’t look beautiful - nor do I try - when I’m at work.
When everything is hitting every fan, it matters not if I have a full face on, nails that dispense with the need for equipment or a skirt that emphasises my gargantuan but sadly oddly flat behind.
And I’m sure that the folk I work alongside and the public prefer it that way.
If I impress anyone it will be because I get it done.

Thank you for the new thread. I haven't posted for over a year but these threads have continued to be a much loved sanctuary during some tricky times. I'll try to be a more active participant again.
Am I right in thinking your dad used to drive the Flying Scotsman, Maireas?
The East Lancs Railway has just had a Flying Scotsman weekend and DH spotted him on his morning walk yesterday. He's a bit camoflaged, but I thought you might like to see the photo.

☺️
I still remember our craggy cord suit/tweed suit/kilt wearing teachers and a very bohemian art teacher who wafted around in clouds of voluminous materials. Kind of old school magnificence of the era.
And the fact that they were terrific and moulded us into - dare I say - fairly passable humans.
Not their rigid coupons and high heels.

It's like we were saying on the Apprentice thread, Sheldon. All the skin tight clothing, skyscraper heels and bloated mouths. Seeing women so sexualised is commonplace now.
I read of these Hollywood stars demanding equal pay, sack the lechers like Weinstein. Then they show it all off like a shop window girl in a red light district. Absolutely nothing has changed. 😡

Come on now. The way they choose to dress has nothing to do with what their paid and nor are they responsible for Weinstein's behaviour. And FWIW I've walked through Amsterdam's red light distract. I didn't see any of the women in the windows dressed like the actresses were last night.
And no, you wouldn't dress like that if you're a teacher or work in an office but the Oscars are Hollywood's biggest night - of course people are going to go all out!

My favourite Oscar dress Julia Roberts in vintage Valentino. She bought it for her daughter when she grows up ❤️
The ultimate Oscar frock. Sublime.
I loved Gwynnie in this too.
You couldn’t have anything spare about you in it but it is astoundingly elegant.
Im not one for fuss, frills or ruffles.----
