Camilla looks fabulous. I can’t wait for the coronation now to see the frocks and rocks.
Charles looks extremely dapper too, he always does at these events when he’s not got a random patch of sewing.

MotherofPearl · 29/03/2023 22:01

Here you are @Gooseysgirl

I'm not sure the fedora works for a public speaking event as it looks like she can't really see properly.

Camilla looks great, that Tiara is something else, I love it.

Camilla's brought out the big guns! 👑 💎

I bloody love her in the Greville tiara, so glamorous 😍

@Maireas has anyone claimed the Russian Pearl Bandeau?

No! It's all yours ✔️😊

I thought the blue was great on Camilla.
I don't like the evening dress.
It washes her out.
For such an expensive dress I would have thought the pattern on the bodice should match up.

Pallisers · 30/03/2023 00:18

The one thing about Camilla is she always looks very comfortable in her clothes and shoes - which in itself is a very stylish look. Her hair is perfect for an older woman.

Gooseysgirl · 30/03/2023 00:40

I do love the Greville on Camilla... it works on her in the same way that the Girls of GB&IRL does, I think it's the hair styling and volume that helps. Queen Sofia of Spain is the same... could always carry off the big tiaras.

Did anyone see the footage of James Cleverly's wife - she looked stunning!

Gooseysgirl · 30/03/2023 00:43

Also, check out Strictly royalty Motsi Mabuse who was at the Berlin shindig too - she looks gorgeous! (For anyone not familiar - she lives in Germany and also judges on the German Strictly)

That is one mighty cute baby
He looks like his Father
Can't wait to see him with our thread mascot

Maireas · 30/03/2023 07:39

Motsi looks amazing, that's a great dress, although I'm not sure about the not-exactly-nude panel at the top. Elegant otherwise.

It reminds me of a gown Kate wore last year. But you'd think the designer could've made the bit at the top at least match her skin tone. I'm not the biggest fan of illusion netting - it always makes me think of figure skating costumes!

paradyning · 30/03/2023 10:16

I love those cape gown things.

latedecember1963 · 30/03/2023 10:51

Gosh, so much happening all at once!
I'll certainly post the titles of the Hapsburg books once I've chosen them, Maireas.
The new baby is just scrumptious! I can almost smell that gorgeous baby smell.
Good for Camilla taking her favourite boots. I've reached a stage where I want my feet to be comfy and I'm not as old as her.
I'm not keen on Camilla's evening dress but I agree that her jewelry is fabulous.
The necklace really suits her.
Anne's dress suits her figure but the long black gloves look very odd. Maybe the eccentric older aunt look is a new trend and I'm just behind the beat!
Max looking fabulous as ever. I love the colour and floral motif on her dress.

Serenster · 30/03/2023 11:30

For such an expensive dress I would have thought the pattern on the bodice should match up.

Speaking as a sewer (erm, that looks all kind of wrong - someone who sews, I mean!) it is impossible to match the patterns when you are joining a flat bodice to a gathered skirt. Also, although you generally cut a bodice out of one piece of fabric, it will need to be shaped in some way to fit a woman’s figure, which will impact the pattern also and there’s nothing you can do about that. (Unless you make the dress first then hand-embroider it afterwards, which Queen Alexandra would have done, definitely 🤣 ).

Anyway, I liked Camilla in a new, flashy dress, with some new jewellery. Such a shame that the French visit was postponed as I presume she wouldn’t have doubled up on tiaras for two separate state dinners in the one week.

Loved Motsi at the German State Dinner! She tweeted about arriving in Germany with a suitcase and a plastic bag 20 years ago, and wondering what her younger self would make of her career now.

Serenster · 30/03/2023 11:47

Having said that, I was studying Camilla’s bodice to try and see how it was fitted, and they did such a great job of matching the patterns it’s near impossible to spot!

I think they shaped around the bust by using princess seams coming from the armhole of the dress - see the illustration below for an example of how these work. You can just see the line of what looks like a seam in the zoomed in photo below, where I’ve circled it in red, and the pattern pieces have been wonderfully matched to disguise it, I think.

First photo of our mascot with his little brother. They are the family that just make me smile, I watched Dad's announcement to the press about the baby's arrival and it was just a joy to see him so smiley and happy.

I really like it! It’s very Queenly. And she wears it well and comfortably.
I also like Motsi’s dress, but agree the illusion panel could have been better. She’s beautiful though, nothing’s going to detract from that!

Would Motsi's gown count for the coronation?

Bling ✔️
Cape ✔️

Yes! ✔️ But without the strange nude panel

Although I rather like Cams too. But would tuck the top in and have a waistband... possibly with a stomacher?

May as well completely redesign it 😂

Maireas · 30/03/2023 16:42

Thanks for that info, @Serenster .
The Lux family look lovely, so sweet.

@Maireas think I'll need a back up though... white clothes are not my friend 🙈

I think we should have a variety of outfits to cover the whole weekend - depending on the events. Can also coordinate with our casual bling 😊

latedecember1963 · 30/03/2023 18:32

On the subject of casual bling I was in The Range this morning to get some Easter craft bits and pieces when I spotted this DIY crown near the coronation section.
I got 2; 1 for me and 1 for my DiL who will be coming over to watch the coronation with me. 😃
