Perhaps the bustle could make a come back? We have no idea of the derrière of Queens Alexandra or Mary. All under many yards of silk.

Sophie has been carriage driving around Windsor Park today, looking very at ease in her outdoorsy clothes. I sometimes think she's like Zara in being better suited to casual clothes.

That's nice that she does carriage driving, as well as Louise. That requires a lot of energy and skill!

That's a lovely photo of Sophie.

gluenotsoup · 19/03/2023 20:09

It is a nice photo.
Better late than never- hope all the ladies here had a lovely day today, and especially those for whom motherhood may not be or have been an easy journey. 💐
I’m off to read a bedtime story 🙂

Aw. A bednight story. Lovely stuff. 💜

Camilla's mother has the kind of formidable hairdo that you only see these days on Lady Pamela Hicks or ex-Queen Beatrix!

Maireas · 19/03/2023 22:20

Indeed! Didn't they used to call it the Harrods Helmet?!

Eaumyword · 20/03/2023 07:22

Harrods Helmet 😂👍

Lola001 · 20/03/2023 09:20

I'm just wondering what regal jewels would be appropriate for me today? Just found baby food on my sleeve and a mark on my jumper.

Maireas · 20/03/2023 09:37

Morning, @Lola001
Perhaps a tiara from Queen Mary's collection? You could go for a full Parure with stomacher - that'll cover up infant food stains.
Let us know your gem and style of preference and we will assist 👍

@Lola001 Alongside some important jewellery, I also find a strategically placed handbag or Corgi is fabulous for covering stains 😉

SqueakyDinosaur · 20/03/2023 12:23

@Lola001 , I suggest you simply cover your entire torso with diamonds a la Queen Mary. They are very practical as they are wipe-clean.

MotherofPearl · 20/03/2023 19:59

Max in Morocco. She certainly seems to gad about. On first glance I thought this was a skirt and top but it's actually a tie-dyed dress. Sadly tie-dye is on my long list of clothes hates. See also:

Asymmetrical hemlines
Animal print
Dresses or skirts with tiers
Pussy bows
Any frills

Anyway, I like the shirt dress style on her, so that's a positive!

I'm just glad she's not in a safari suit!

Could we have something ruby based in honour of my daughter? If I am covering her food steins I may aswell cover it in her birthstone.
My life is obviously so exciting I would like big and grand. A ball gown for Asda tomorrow perhaps?

Maireas · 20/03/2023 20:33

Right, so we're looking for rubies.....
Leave it to us!

Do you like any of these, @Lola001 ?
The late Queen's Burmese Ruby tiara is taken, as is the Dutch Ruby, but there are a few other nice pieces on here

Allow me to suggest the French Crown Ruby Parure:

With this, you get the beautiful tiara (as shown in the photo attached), as well as the full parure as shown when you scroll down the link.

Unless someone else has already claimed it? @Maireas over to you and the SoS.

That is an absolute beauty, @MotherofPearl
Also - unclaimed!

@Maireas I presume someone has already claimed the Princess of L'Orleans Belle Epoque tiara - if so would they be inclined to engage me in a duel at dawn?

Maireas · 20/03/2023 22:41

@myrtleWilson - Princess of Orleans Belle Epoque tiara ✔️ - it's yours!

Maireas, if you've got your spreadsheet open, could I lay claim to the Luxembourg Aquamarine Bandeau, please? I love aquamarines, and as an intermittent poster on these threads I feel an "entry-level" tiara seems appropriate; just the sort of thing I could wear on the school run or PTFA meetings without drawing too much attention... Pic attached of the sparkles 💎
