Really effective handcream

crochetmonkey74 · 04/03/2023 10:34

Could I have recommendations please for the best and most effective handcream?
My hands are feeling tight, shiny and puffy . I've got a range of nice handcreams form LOccitane to Body Shop etc but I think I need something a bit more 'medical' if you know what I mean? I want it to sink in straight away and really soothe them as well. They are not sore as such, but current creams are not working. I'm going shopping today and will be near a Boots, Superdrug and M&S but could also buy from amazon etc
Thanks in advance!

I like the LRP cicaplast for hands. I am lazy and only use hand cream once a day overnight and this does the trick. Really really thick texture.

I like the Aveeno Daily Moisturising Hand Cream. Has colloidal oatmeal, very soothing and non greasy.

This Avene one is nice. It's not 'medical' but it does absorb quickly and doesn't leave my hands feeling greasy.

I have never found anything more effective than Neutrogena Norwegian Formula. It's about £3.50 in the supermarket. Put it on last thing at night.

Kiehl’s hand salve from the men’s range.

Epaderm!

Avenida Skin Relief: the one in a beige coloured tube.

Gold bond ultimate is really good. It's the only thing that has finally healed the cracks in my feet.

O'Keefes working hands.

O'Keefes working hands.

Here to say this. They also do an overnight one.

Weleda Skin Food

Aveeno - the one with the pale blue top, for extra dry itchy skin. Has completely transformed the skin on my hands - and found out by accident when my Dad was in his last few weeks of life and had horrid dry peeling skin from dehydration. I suddenly clicked why my hands felt so nice, as I was plastering him in it a few times a day!

WinterMusings · 04/03/2023 11:52

The only one I find non greasy, that sinks in & works for me is the Clarins one

i tried the Norwegian one & many others, they just don't work for me.,

Body shop hemp is the most heavy duty I've found

Passthecake30 · 04/03/2023 13:58

Another vote for the Norwegian concentrated hand cream

JacobsCrackersCheeseFogg · 04/03/2023 14:02

Another vote for Aveeno.

Ooh I'm plagued by cracked feet, can you please share the exact one you use?

turnthebiglightoff · 04/03/2023 14:04

O'keefes or Atrixo. I prefer Atrixo for its smell. All the big burly builders in my family have always used Atrixo!

TheLadyofShalott1 · 04/03/2023 14:28

I use "nursem" caring hand cream on my hands. I have try lots of other, including Aveeno, O'keefes, Norwegian concentrated, Body Shop hemp, and none of them work anywhere near as well as nursem does.

I get it from Amazon, and need to use it every time I wash my hands, and I put more on just before I go to sleep. It doesn't need that big a blob, and it keeps my psoriasis at bay, and my hands lovely and soft, so although it is a bit more expensive than some of the handcreams, it is worth it for me.

I keep the larger nursem with the pump beside the sink in the bathroom, and a tube each in my bedside draw, and my handbag. I know within a couple of handwashes if I have forgotten to use it!

I hope you find a cream to suit you very quickly @crochetmonkey74 🪢🐒

Oh and it does sink in straight away!

TheLadyofShalott1 · 04/03/2023 14:32

I have tried lots of others - FGS!!

crochetmonkey74 · 04/03/2023 16:49

Loads of excellent ones to try here. I tried Aveeno on one hand and Neutrogena on another but they felt the same as my normal ones. Will try O Keefes. Someone in real life today suggested Nursem but they didn't have it in store

Lush charity pot coin is my favourite for hands.

TiptoeThroughTheToadstools · 04/03/2023 18:25

Atrixo hand cream is excellent and doubles as a great facial moisturiser

1Wanda1 · 04/03/2023 18:25

Weleda Skin Food is the best I've found.

wetotter · 04/03/2023 18:30

I like the Neutrogena Norwegian too.

And although this will sound barking, also the Cerave foot cream if you want something really heavy duty.

Plus get some v cheap cotton gloves, and occasionally slather your hands in a thick layer of any cream at bedtime (try nivea blue, sudocrem or even vaseline) then pop on the gloves and leave it to work miracles overnight
