Are you attending the service or are you watching outside?

AnnieMore · 03/03/2023 22:01

I guess there’s a dress code for guests? Morning suits for men or military uniforms, smart formal wear or uniform for women.

RB68 · 03/03/2023 22:19

Attending

We haven't had formal notification yet but suspect morning dress - so its prolly going to be longish dress, jacket and hat but am looking for pointers to actual dresses/shoes etc

How exciting. What sort of colours do you like? Personally I would go for a muted dusky pink colour. With tights. And flats as it could be a long day.

RB68 · 03/03/2023 22:27

yeah it won't be 6 inch heels for me, so small heel comfy "Queen" shoes lol. Defo a long day they already warned of that as you have to go to WA really early (like 8.30) so large handbag for the picnic lunch!

Colours - I like purples and blues and really suit greens. I am pretty lucky that I can wear most colours. I am mid 50s so don't want to be too Mutton, I like to be comfortable and warm too - hopefully in May this won't be too big a deal

😂😂😂

loobylou10 · 03/03/2023 22:55

@RB68 how exciting! Phase 8 are good for formal wear. @TBOM - 😂 - ??.

LucyLeave · 03/03/2023 22:57

A tiara is a must.

Hintofreality · 03/03/2023 22:57

I’d wear a “Fuck the Monarchy” t-shirt

Kissedbyfire1 · 03/03/2023 22:59

Shibumi. M2M, silk, gorgeous patterns and plains. Princess Anne wears it. Accessibly priced.

Same 😂

redspottedmug · 03/03/2023 23:02

I'd channel the royals - long coat over matching dress.

loobylou10 · 03/03/2023 23:02

Nice!

QuietlyConfident · 03/03/2023 23:09

Tricky one, the last one was....some time ago so you can't really use it for pointers.

I guess half way between very formal workwear and wedding is what you're aiming for. Hobbs would normally hit the spot. They have some nice floral dresses but I think that's a bit weddingy, you probably want plain, and with a matching jacket.

QuietlyConfident · 03/03/2023 23:10

Actually I'd go to John Lewis for a stylist session. If you tell them it's for the coronation they'll probably roll out the red carpet, or at least a glass of fizz.

trulyunruly01 · 03/03/2023 23:30

There, 32 nicker on Amazon.
Go big on the hat shoes and bag.
Don't stand near any sources of ignition.

I want to know what the reviews say now... I hope they come with pictures showing what it actually looked like when it arrived.

AdoraBell · 03/03/2023 23:39

Second the long jacket over a dress, maybe look at Viyella.

Octopusmittens · 03/03/2023 23:41

How do you know you’re being invited OP? Genuinely interested.

HurryUpLighterNights · 03/03/2023 23:44

How exciting OP! We’ve been invited to the garden party at Holyrood on 4th July, watching this thread for ideas.

Caviarandgelatine · 03/03/2023 23:46

Union Jack dress a la Ginger spice

AdoraBell · 03/03/2023 23:50
