What would you wear? Size 18 but only 5ft 4

Any recommendations

OP, how lovely! I'm hoping to be in London that day to soak up the atmosphere, though I know I probably won't get to see anything. No suggestions for clothing, just wanted to say "Have a wonderful time!"

A colleague of DH Is going, she got her MBE last week related to her actions during Covid. She’s known for several weeks.

Lol you lot don't disappoint. I have a BEM (look it up) for volunteer work during lockdown & Covid years.

How do I know? I have had an email from the same email the BEM notification came through, asking permission to send to Dept of Media and Culture who are sorting invites. It was accompanied by a form to complete re any additional needs and whether I would participate in media etc. I suspect they have gone through several rounds of this to get the numbers "right" so I may know later than those with other awards like a CBE or MBE etc. I have previous posts regarding Garden parties and what to wear last year. They have not as yet sent the formal invite as they won't waste money sending those unless they know you will come etc (can you imagine the logistics chaos of that).

I am a bit tongue in cheek generally so prob came across quite flippant because I know royal events aren't everyone's cup of tea. But come on I posted in Style not AIBU

Hats - I think it will be hats, they have forwarned lots of waiting around, will be in the Abbey early doors so everyone can get seated (apparently there are loos in the cloisters but can you imagine for 2k people) there is no indication of water and food so large handbag with water and snacks it is even though its church (diabetic for a start). Weather wise - not as bad as for the Garden Party which is outside but yet I specially purchased a tiny Brolly and will likely have a decent shawl or scarf that is fine enough to stash in my bag as well.

I am expecting a document with the invite regarding protocol on the day and clothes - no arm tops showing, no short skirts or low tops, hats rather than anything else etc but not 100% after all there hasn't been one of these for a number of years

So reviewed suggestions and whilst love love love the Corgis it needs at least short sleeves - although Jacket could cover that..... Combined with creature of the deep bag could be interesting. Am wondering about getting something fun to make a scarf from to wear on the day along those lines. Defo a convo starter when you go to something like this on your own.

I am not a JL fan to be honest but liking some of the phase 8 and defo have my eye on two in the same fabric but very diff dresses. I will be checking out local dress shop - that's where the garden party/awards ceremony one came from - to be fair I could give it a fourth outing if push comes to shove (it also did a wedding so I am getting my moneys worth) but its a good excuse for a new outfit, well until my sensible head returns and persuades me to go for No 5 outing.

I am hoping to shed a bit more weight (just using it as a motivator) so while I am down a size from last yr frock does currently still fit if a bit more swish room than before.

The Shibumi site is gorgeous and for what it is a good price as well. Love all the scarves too. Maybe I could wear one of those with the "old" dress.

Seconding Phase Eight. My mum got a beautiful midi dress and short tailored jacket from there for my wedding and she looked great. They'll have lots of outfits which are ideal for this sort of event.
