Was the label off it @Madoz ?
They say online they done repair accessories but did repair a cashmere wrap, however they paid great attention to the label, noting the number on it etc.

Yes it was - I hate labels, they always come off!😂

Maybe I will take in the Alix trousers with the dodgy stitching which I've never got round to fixing myself. I bought them at John Lewis and thought you had to have bought from Toast. I might give them my much loved linen robe too, which is more holes than linen - that would be a challenge! It's free right?

Countmeout · 28/02/2023 17:47

Yes @faustina it was free. However I had to have mine posted back to me as I was only over on holiday and although I was able to drop it in I paid £4.95 postage (UK) for its return.

I'm really attracted to this scarf and styling, the whole outfit is very "me". It's Margaret Howell. Does anyone know if they ever do sales or whether any other companies do scarves of this class cheaper. Toast's 2 men's scarves are ok,but nowhere near as beautiful to my eye.

happysoju · 01/03/2023 09:02

@dudsville That's a lovely scarf! And yup, Margaret Howell does end of season sales. I think its worth waiting if you're not in a hurry to buy.

(I made my first order recently and was impressed at how quickly they shipped it, and the box/packaging. Quite a change from the wrinkly paper bag from toast!)

dudsville · 01/03/2023 09:19

That gives me hope @happysoju ! I've signed up. They also have a very dark green men's one. These both look very wearable but the men's is £199. I'm not in a hurry at those prices.

What did you buy from them?

happysoju · 01/03/2023 10:35

@dudsville I bought the MHL Worker jean:
www.margarethowell.co.uk/women-mhl-worker-jean-denim-twill-indigo

I first saw them years ago in this photo from the sartorialist, and have been lusting after them since... the perfect high waisted, straight-legged, turn up selvedge denim 😍
I finally pulled the trigger a month ago when I realised its been 7 years, and the only thing that has stayed on my wishlist for that long!

They fit perfectly and a great weight, just waiting for the weather to cool down to break them in...

dudsville · 01/03/2023 11:32

That's a really nice pair of jeans, that tab in the back is cute! And you've proven your commitment waiting 7 years to make the purchase, I bet you really enjoy wearing them!

I've scoured the internet and cannot find a similarly nice scarf to the one linked above - but I can't yet prove to myself that this isn't just wimsy - I do not have any scarves for dressing, just one for winter wearing with a coat, so there's no way I can buy it. Surely there must be a less popular up and coming company making a similarly nice product?

Snowyowl78 · 01/03/2023 11:54

New stuff online alert!

faustina · 01/03/2023 12:07

@dudsville what's the scarf made of? (it's very pretty)

There was an article on small scarves in the Guardian a couple of weeks ago - you might find some recommendations there? It was Jess Cartner Morley

also - that place I bought the small wool scarf from - Scarlet Knitwear - had some new colours in a mohair/wool mix on Instagram the other day - all muted naturals, but plain, not patterned

hope you find something nice!

Saurus72 · 01/03/2023 12:11

Thanks @Snowyowl78

The prices are making me very annoyed.

Why is this Bryn dress £20 more than this Bryn dress which already eye wateringly expensive?

I can’t even talk about this.

Snowyowl78 · 01/03/2023 12:20

@Saurus72 is silly isn’t it.
I have ordered a few bits to try- denim drawstring dress and the new denim jumpsuit. Both expensive but I felt like they could get a lot of wear if they look good.

dudsville · 01/03/2023 12:20

@Saurus72 , I literally laughed out loud when I clicked on the link to the cotton linen dress. I absolutely agree. Although, reading another thread about style and beauty, and looking at the MH stuff and other companies poeple are talking about on there makes me think that Toast is the high street version of this kind of thing and toast has set its sights on this higher echelon of client.

I think it was linen @faustina , I'll do a search for that guardian article, thanks.

faustina · 01/03/2023 12:23

Is the new stuff all mixed in with the old stuff again? I just looked at 'new in' and I think it's not so new

Snowyowl78 · 01/03/2023 12:24

It’s not on New yet- if you put on all clothes and then scroll right to the bottom they are all there

The panelled cotton linen dress is nearly £300!!! Beautiful but really??
I mean its not as if its some fancy fabric. It's something I would have jumped at but at that price - it is a sale item for me.

neveradullmoment99 · 01/03/2023 12:34

Love the denim drawstring jumpsuit. Please report back about sizing! Its gorgeous!

Snowyowl78 · 01/03/2023 12:37

@neveradullmoment99 ive got for the 12 as that’s what I’ve got in the tie waist one. Hopefully ok! I am not sure if the pegs might be a bit wide for me, but we’ll see.

dudsville · 01/03/2023 12:37

Tha canvas shirt and trousers make a nice outfit, not for me, but for someone who doesn't fear wearing white!

dudsville · 01/03/2023 12:44

Oooh, I like the oar check cotton dress. I don't think that dress pattern suits me though.

neveradullmoment99 · 01/03/2023 12:45

I love the pond check linen dress. I may order it sometime...
It looks big though [ On the model ] I wouldn't want it t his generous. I think I would order this in a medium.

neveradullmoment99 · 01/03/2023 12:46

It's an easy fit.

neveradullmoment99 · 01/03/2023 12:47

It also looks very very long [ which I love ] but the model is 5ft 10 so it would be even longer on me!
