@faustina do you think they’d do that if it’s not ok the website anymore?

Trinitybean · 27/03/2023 11:35

I think it depends who you get on the chat function, I messaged a while back and bought that check frilled mul mul blouse and she was really helpful, I asked a couple weeks later for fracap hikers and they said they didn't have any but obviously, they do as they're in the sale.

TerrierOrTerror · 27/03/2023 11:46

My parcel has just arrived. I had an initial try on but as I don't have a full length mirror I need to wait for the husband to be home to take photos to firmly decide keepers.

The Half Sleeve Fine Alpaca Cardigan is definitely a return. It is gorgeous, lovely colour and the exact style I want but it's itchy and the buttons are already pulling out of shape due to their weight.

I love the Lofty Jacquard Yoke Sweater in Plum. It's like a hug and even if my husband doesn't like it I'm keeping.

The Fair Isle Yoke Wool Sweater in Bitter Chocolate I do like but not sure it is the most flattering around the stomach. That said will go with a lot of items in my wardrobe.

The Tie Front Floral Crepe Dress in Oil/Birch is one I definitely need the husband's opinion on! I love the pattern, bit worried about the fabric being sweaty and potential shrinkage. Just not sure if it is flattering or not, but I can see myself wearing it lots if it is.

FiddleFigs · 27/03/2023 11:52

My parcel also arrived this morning.

I'm keeping the wool cashmere sweater in clementine (lovely weight for spring) and the denim workwear skirt with the big pockets.

I'm returning the craft check linen dress - the shape did nothing for me, and it was a bit of a squeeze getting my fairly normal sized head through the opening! But the fabric is so so lovely and I'd love it in another style of dress - I think it comes in a shirt too, so will look out for returns in future sales.

MaroonedOnADesertIsland · 27/03/2023 12:02

@TerrierOrTerror I am interested in the tie front crepe dress too - looks lovely and striking but a bit strange though how it is still in stock in all sizes.

Nice to hear everyone's sales purchases. I've only got the Forest boots coming. I kept filling my basket and then it would be sold out when I came to check out. Probably for the best really...

MaroonedOnADesertIsland · 27/03/2023 12:05

Oh I've just seen the sale has gone! I did manage to add that dress to my bag and check out so will see what I think.

blueskiesrule · 27/03/2023 12:11

@OftenOrange @Laska2Meryls
Thank you both. I think in reality the sleeve length might be the killer for me too, but in a reckless moment I’ve ordered it (& then threw in the duffle too on the basis of the overwhelmingly positive reviews - it will be either/or when they come, I’ll need to choose but hopefully one of them). Also added a couple of beanies, it’s obviously my day!

JulesJules · 27/03/2023 12:29

Thanks very much to everyone who commented on the etched floral dress - I have ordered it, fingers crossed!

faustina · 27/03/2023 12:39

@Snowyowl78 - I think some people in the past have got a result that way - definitely worth a shot I'd say

I'm still waiting for my despatch email!!!

Stoic123 · 27/03/2023 13:11

@Laska2Meryls - welcome to the Socks Squad.

I bought a pair of Toast socks for a friend for Christmas (Wool Jacquard ones). They got a fairly muted response (socks-ho hum) but 3 weeks later she rang just to let me know that she'd worn them for the first time and they were AMAZING.

Hope they are a good pair.

Laska2Meryls · 27/03/2023 13:40

Socks are fab! ( fairisle ones ) ..
But its a (compared to usual Toast sale spend ) cheap round for me this time.. Just keeping socks, the Furoshiki wraps and the cluster print nightdress.. The windflower nightdress is going back .. stiff fabric and am not keen on the colour

dudsville · 27/03/2023 14:00

Argh, i typed out a post and then deleted it...

That's a shame about the buffalo oversizing @Snowyowl78 , I've ordered it in my "usual for toast" dress size, so we shall we.

@Laska2Meryls, these are socks of the gods.

@TerrierOrTerror, I'm really loving all these hygge reviews of the lofty yolk sweater and can't wait to see mine!

Postie delivered some toast today and said to my husband " been a while since we've seen these packages", or some such. And meanwhile, i dreamed i was wearing some toast ecru trousers she feeling really elegant. In reality it's a style choice i wouldn't make for practical reasons!

Nanasueathome · 27/03/2023 14:04

Snowyowl78 · 27/03/2023 11:30

@faustina do you think they’d do that if it’s not ok the website anymore?

There was a dress I needed in the NY sale which sold out
i asked on chat about it and they found one for me and set up the invoice
they also gave me free next day delivery

dudsville · 27/03/2023 14:07

@FiddleFigs, i have the craft check shirt. The fabric is wonderful and i think that's what swayed me to buy it, but i think i may need to alter it as i just don't choose it as there's so much fabric. I'm considering narrowing the a line of the body and/or reducing the volume in the sleeve.

dudsville · 27/03/2023 14:12

For those who have or are about to recieve the duffle, I'd be really curios to hear how exaggerated the a line shape is - that's what finally put me off buying it as i imagine wearing it on a rainy but windy day and it flying up at me!

Snowyowl78 · 27/03/2023 14:15

I’ve tried the buffalo coat on again a couple of times with shoes and proper trousers and I think actually it is the correct size, it’s just meant to be oversized? Had a look at the pics again and on Instagram. I do like it actually, but it’s just a very big coat!! I’d like to try the 8 but I am thinking actually it will be too restrictive around the arms. I might ask them in a couple of days if they have any returns. I probably should not keep it but I am tempted.

all I’m keeping is socks! I got the rose neat cardigan but am sending back as I felt a bit indifferent about it.

OftenOrange · 27/03/2023 14:36

My first parcel has been a flop: the painted check brown/white sundress an unexpected miss as I have the strappy top already , but sadly the dress was unflatteringly wide .
I ordered the black embroidered kaftan dress too,and it’s also far too big ,the back has so much volume and the fabric isn’t drapey. It can marinate until my other sales parcels arrive but it’s a likely return.
I know that I should wait for the May Summer drop , and buy something more useful.
I’ve six Toast dresses already , and due to a cold Victorian house in Winter , and a very hot climate in Summer I don’t wear them enough.
I need vest tops, and light linen trousers, so hoping May will oblige.
The clothes shopping in our part of France is dire. My Toast clothes get a lot of
compliments…..

OftenOrange · 27/03/2023 14:38

@dudsville Will certainly report back on the duffle , I hadn’t noticed an A line silhouette, hope it doesn’t mirror the dress I just received 😁

agnesmartin · 27/03/2023 14:55

My second parcel arrived today.

The fawn wide leg cotton trousers are v wide but I got used to the exaggerated silhouette pretty quickly. The colour is a more mustard shade than shown on the website. I like them but I don't love them enough when I have enough summer-ish trousers already, including the blue check wide pair from last year. I'm hoping to lose a little weight so if I do so before the next sale then I'll snap them up in a smaller size.

The grandad shirt in mineral blue is similar colour to the screen. It's fine but nothing special (on me) struggling to see how they could possibly justify a £95 price tag. I'm not willing to pay £45 for it as I have a few long sleeve t-shirts already.

So trousers and top going back. Purple fingerless gloves and blue socks, I'm keeping, along with with the black collared t-shirt from my first parcel.

Am feeling very 😇 and restrained! 😆

Dee1224 · 27/03/2023 15:29

Well, my two orders have arrived and I have just bored my dh to death by trying everything on in various permutations!

I really liked the painted check dress, (ordered a 12 as it was supposed to be true to size). Even dh liked it, (and he rarely expresses a positive opinion on clothes!)

Unfortunately it was too big on top and I have just spent a ludicrously long time trying to make it work. I tried a t- shirt underneath but that made it look like an apron 🙃so it’s going back, as is the Elm in size 10 which was even bigger. I personally preferred the Elm dress, even though it was floor length on me at 5’4”, but it was huge all over!

Dee1224 · 27/03/2023 15:48

I am also sending back the cord jacket as it’s too tight and the navy cord shirt and the navy cord dress as too big.

If Toast had kept the sale on until tonight, or offered exchanges, I would have reordered the Elm and Painted Check dresses in a smaller size. As it is, they have lost a sale, (but I don’t expect they will be losing any sleep over it 🤣).

That’s my whole order being returned- I do feel guilty about the to and fro shipping.

From my second order, I am keeping the cumin round collar t-shirt - my first ever successful Toast top purchase and ditto for the black linen trousers.

The mittens didn’t fit - absolutely huge 🙃. The twigs and berries pjs looked dreadful - like I was wearing a nappy! I am so disappointed as I wanted the bottoms to go with my nightie.

I am still thinking about the weird blue diamond pattern trousers. Has anyone got these already? Do they work?

Dee1224 · 27/03/2023 16:13

I just contacted Toast via Chat to see if either dress was available at the sale price in a smaller size. Apparently all sold out, but I can ask again in a week’s time.

ScottishMouse · 27/03/2023 16:24

My parcel just arrived too. Some sale and some non-sale.
The forest green wool cashmere jumper is lovely, but is going back because I can’t keep both it and the charcoal grey boxy wool cashmere cardigan. I tried the cardigan in twice at full price but couldn’t bring myself to spend over £200 on it, but I know it will get worn until it falls apart so I can keep it at sale price.
The non-sale Moonstar trainers are an extravagance at the price, but I have had a pair of Moonstar trainers before and I know how comfy and hard-wearing they are. I can’t get on with converse or novesta or the other brand that Toast do (can’t remember the name), but these are perfect. Only thinking is that I am not sure about the black sole/toe with the cream fabric. In theory yes, but in practice I’m not sure if I would get as much wear out of them as plain cream ones.
I bought the medicine pouch in black at sale price and the dark grey Studio Kettle pint bag at full price as I am looking for a small cross body bag. Does anyone have either and can comment at all? The medicine pouch is very cute but the strap is thin leather which digs in a bit of the bag is at all heavy (I put in notebook, pen, keys, phone, purse, and this was enough for the strap to dig in a bit). The pint bag is less interesting, but maybe more practical. The strap is too long on me, but I think it wouldn’t be hard to shorten. But is it a bit meh?
That was long, sorry!

Stoic123 · 27/03/2023 16:44

Two sales parcels arrived. First thoughts:

  • Tie Neck Fluid Dress in Nasturtium is going back. Aside from arriving horribly crumpled, it isn't particularly flattering on me.
  • Peaks Print Easy Dress is gorgeous and I can't wait to wear it. Really flattering and a gorgeous pattern/colour.
  • Rae Wool Cashmere in Jade. Sized up (XL) based on reviews as I like a relaxed fit. It's a probable yes. Gorgeous colour that suits me.
  • Fair Isle Yoke Wool Sweater in Chocolate. Also deliberately sized up (L) on this one and a definite keeper.
  • Brushed Back Jersey Sweatshirt - on the fence here. It fits well/shape suits me but isn't particular special. I will mull further as will get a lot of use out of it (mainly post yoga/gym).
  • Checked Cotton Cashmere Trousers - no choice but to size up as smaller sizes sold out. Too baggy so returning - but the material is gorgeous. Will keep eye out for Toast cotton cashmere in future and pounce earlier.
Hygge is the right word for the Lofty Sweater @dudsville.
