Just to add, the pockets on the jersey dress were fine on me, but I have no hips or bum to speak of, and took a bigger size to accommodate my bust than my bottom half would need, so I think the fact that there was plenty of space on the bottom half meant the pockets sat ok. I can see how any tighter on the hips/bum and it would do that.

MerryChristmasToYou · 18/03/2023 13:55

I don't go on instagram, but I think the models look fine. I didn't like it when Toast only showed the clothes unworn.

Oh that was awful!

Dee1224 · 18/03/2023 18:18

Hi @dudsville, I would say I am a medium in the linen panelled trousers, (although I could probably squeeze into a small), and a medium in the cross back jumpsuit, but the gingham trousers in medium were definitely too big. I am a high street 12, (M&S), for example, in trousers.

Dee1224 · 18/03/2023 18:22

I also looked at the jersey jumpsuit today in black and couldn’t understand why Toast had sewed on the label in white thread. It showed through the back and looked awful. A big mistake at sample proofing stage, I think.

Countmeout · 18/03/2023 18:59

@MerryChristmasToYou I have this coat from Arket but last years when it came in navy. It’s very light and good for pulling on in spring summer - not warm enough yet.
www.arket.com/en_gbp/women/jackets-coats/product.cotton-linen-coat-beige.1072858002.html
Arket seems very oversized too.

I’ve had a birthday this week too, I got the Shore scarf ( really not worth the money but it’s just the sort of thing I like to wear ) it’s very flimsy in a lovely textured way and quite a generous size. I also got this nightdress
www.toa.st/products/windflower-crosshatch-organic-cotton-nightdress-red-kuri Which I had seen in person in a shop and thought would work as a summer dress. They have another if a different colour which they are calling a dress.
I think it may go into sale though so will see if that happens before wearing it. Unexpectedly also have some money to spend. Not sure if anything else is calling me.

Ooh, @Countmeout , I have been eyeing up both those nighties/dresses. Are they oversized or true to size, do you think?

I am now wearing my twigs and berries nightie bought in the Xmas sale, (that I was saving for warmer weather), to cheer me up! I hope the matching pjs come back for the next sale as I balked at paying £85 for them at Xmas, given how much I had already spent in the Toast sale. I really like wearing Toast pj bottoms with the matching nightie! I am amassing a collection of unworn pj tops!

MerryChristmasToYou · 18/03/2023 19:39

I have some Toast pyjamas, @Countmeout , but I bought them in about 2005 or thereabouts and are 'for best' (i.e. wearing when I might need to share a bathroom or something). I can't remember what they cost but they weren't cheap. I have ones from And/or and Cyberjammies for more everyday use. They're lovely but not Toast lovely.

The coat is nice, but I wouldn't have bought it, because probably I don't need it. I have enough coats, a couple are 'perfect' ones and I have a few 'fit-for-purpose' ones. I think that maybe I'm too fussy and too mean/skint.

MiracleToast · 18/03/2023 21:50

I just looked at my past orders and I have a sale order from 17th March 2022…

Let’s hope this means the sale will begin any day now…

dudsville · 19/03/2023 02:39

Hm, thanks @Dee1224 that leaves me in a quandary re the sizing. Whenever I've tried large, which would make sense re a size 14, they've been far too big... I'm reminded of a cute ikat pair I tried in the sale before last and the cut just didn't suit, they also had the long crotch, so I'm guessing this just wouldn't suit me.

I was surprised there wasn't a sale Thursday but I'm glad a personally i would have struggled to make returns on time, and I send back so much! Each day gives me more time!

Countmeout · 19/03/2023 08:00

I think the nightdress is Toast usual generous sizing @Dee1224 .

OP posts:
Noeggsontoast · 19/03/2023 09:59

@Countmeout happy birthday for this week. That night dress is a very pretty fabric.

@Dee1224 I just returned that green Bryn dress in the XS, sadly the cut didn't work for my shape.

@MerryChristmasToYou thank you.

@MiracleToast there was definitely a sale this time last year. Maybe it will be this coming week, though I expect it will be more wintery items.

I'm over wintery items at the moment and want to get out of sweaters and cardigans, hope April is an improvement on March.

Countmeout · 19/03/2023 10:25

For anyone who missed this last year it’s back. I missed the blue so that’s my birthday money mostly spent . I ordered 2 sizes as it says new sizing and didn’t want to risk it disappearing again. It’ll be interesting to compare sizing to last years white which I have.

www.toa.st/products/cotton-oxford-easy-shirt-chambray

@Noeggsontoast I think I’m over winter now too and don’t think I need anything wintry in sale. I’m thinking of washing and packing away some jumpers.
I have no sale orders in March 22 and it would be unlike me not to buy anything. The first sale after it is June.

OP posts:
Noeggsontoast · 19/03/2023 10:39

@Countmeout you are right, I don't know why I thought there was a sale, I think it was the socks I bought that made me think that as I typically only buy them in the sale. There was however a kindred gift late Feb 2022. It was the scarf last year.

Snowyowl78 · 19/03/2023 10:39

I’ve noticed That they’re selling the Alix Slate again which was in the sale in Jan! Strange.

anyone tried this? It’s out of stock in the 12 which I would have gone for but reviews don’t mention sizing…
www.toa.st/collections/womens-new-collection/products/cotton-linen-twill-workwear-shirt-thorn-green

Countmeout · 19/03/2023 10:51

Maybe a new batch of Alix slate @Snowyowl78 , maybe minor adjustments in fabric or something or sizing.

That shirt is lovely, I thought it would be good to wear as a little jacket. It says regular sizing and when it says that I err on the bigger size i.e. my real size usually.

ToastCosILoveIt · 19/03/2023 11:31

There was definitely a sale on 17 March last year. I had ordered the Gingham Cotton Wool Top and other things on the 15 March at full price (£155) and reordered it at sale price (£110) on the 17 March. I also ordered the Lofty Alpaca Cable Cardigan in the sale and some pyjamas.

@Snowyowl78 , I love that shirt/jacket in thorn green, a shame it is sold out in my size.

Popplebop · 19/03/2023 12:19

Definitely was a quick sale started 17 March last year - just found the email in the depths of my inbox. I ordered socks!! And in fact they have been well used so were good buys.

I bought exactly the same on 17 March last year!

dudsville · 19/03/2023 13:01

Last March 17th I ordered a pair of cords in two sizes at £95, poplin twill trousers at £85 and a poplin long top at £60. I think those are sale prices???

dudsville · 19/03/2023 13:02

Ah, it took me so long to write my post, others have already confirmed!

Dee1224 · 19/03/2023 13:12

I have the Pond in my basket - again! Here is me trying it on yesterday, (with the red/cream trousers in the foreground!)

I have just watched the Toast live where it was suggested pairing it with the chalk tee:

www.toa.st/collections/womens-tops-tees/products/emma-cotton-half-sleeve-tee-chalk

Any thoughts? I like the dress from the front, (but am less keen on the side view - which I have censored 🤣).

I would pass on this one. It isn't very flattering and could have been loose but cut better.

Dee1224 · 19/03/2023 13:21

It is very long and quite baggy. But I like the colours 🙃

Laska2Meryls · 19/03/2023 13:26

@Dee1224 I like it on you , it will probably soften with washing and look less wide at side view ( if that is what is bothering you) I love the colour.
@Snowyowl78 .. I have the Thorn shirt on order ! But in 16 as I want it for a jacket mainly ( and to hopefully accommodate both bust and the rugby players shoulders .. )

Laska2Meryls · 19/03/2023 13:28

However with the 'new ' sizing , ( and despite being a high st 14) I am hoping that it will fit .. The largest size is already sold out which is a tad worrying ..
