Ah thanks for the sympathy , it’s not that bad :)

@dudsville I think it’s the right one, they are not concealed pockets per se. I hadn’t thought about stuff sticking out in them, I’ll probably only put my hands in them as a general rule as I normally have a bag anyway.

Countmeout · 10/03/2023 18:26

Sorry about the job disappointment @ScottishMouse but I’m glad you treated yourself.

I can confirm the black jersey dress reappears overnight . The cat wants out between 5 and 6.

I would wear the Pond check dress without a T on holiday and on a very hot day here. I like my shoulders, don’t care if anyone else does, even though they’re definitely not young shoulders. A tan always helps .
Anyhow I won’t be buying it this month but will put it on my list of wants. I’ve a feeling it might be one for the end of summer sale if I can be patient enough. I’ve bought the Belted canvas fisherman’s trousers that they also wafted round on the video yesterday so I will have to hold off on anything else. They’re a bit expensive but if they work I can live with that. They should arrive tomorrow snow permitting.
www.toa.st/collections/womens-new-collection/products/belted-canvas-fisherman-trousers-calico
They're a bit like a really really cheap pair I bought (£5 in H andM) last year that I wore a lot but I’m hoping these ones will be slightly more substantial but still light. They seem to be very long though so will have to factor in if I love them enough to have taken up.
I loved the colours they put with them.

I’m sorry there’s not more reviews for everything, I find them helpful.

Jersey dress restock reminds me of all the insomniacs on this thread grabbing early hours super bargains from John Lewis.

MerryChristmasToYou · 10/03/2023 20:42

I gave up years ago, @dudsville . I have too much stuff but I'm not letting go of things I love. I am in the middle of a clearout.
I'm glad I kept my much loved bootleg jeans.

dudsville · 11/03/2023 02:32

@Countmeout , I really be curious to hear what the inside of the waistband is like. I tried the denim ones and i didn't like that all th fabric was just folded up inside - it looked messy and added fabric to a place i didn't want fabric, but i love the silhouette.

Countmeout · 11/03/2023 08:41

Well I’m waiting to see if they do arrive for we’ve still 8 inches of snow which has turned to ice overnight @dudsville . Do you mean the waistband was made up of folded up material?

OP posts:
dudsville · 11/03/2023 12:19

Yes, i didn't really get it, that in order to make the paper bag effect all that material gets sewn down at the waistband but kept in order for it to "paper bag" above the waistline. I thought it would be removed at the waistline, but i can see how that would weaken the garment. I just didn't like how the inside looked.

neveradullmoment99 · 11/03/2023 12:33

Id ordered the loop jersey trousers in the navy. They were not good at all on me. From the front they looked cute but OMG from the side they just looked huge.
Don't really understand it tbh as most reviews say that sizing is smaller. I am a 14 and the mediums were just too big. Lowish on the crotch add instead of the leg tapering from the top it was just huge and wide from the top. I would have ordered a small but OOS.
Maybe if they come back in. Pity as I really like the raw edge on bottom but just not for me in the medium at least.

Countmeout · 11/03/2023 12:58

Well they arrived in spite of the snow.
I would say the sizing is similar to the Annie trousers, except at the moment I need the top button on my Annie’s moved as I’m not as light as I want. I have 10 in the Annie and ordered these in a 10 and I can button these. They also have a zip both at the side. They’re very high in the waist. The belt is fixed,, ie attached at the back, you’d have to tuck in any top . I am not short waisted and I found them a bit high, also I don’t tuck in very often. The material is a nice weight not too heavy not too light. The only pocket is the one on the leg which was slightly disappointing but I can see side pockets would have added to the bulk. The length is at my ankle (5’4”) and I could have lived with the length as it was. However the side profile is not flattering. Too much material, they do however look lovely from the front.
I tried on my navy fisherman’s trousers afterwards (2/3 seasons if not more ago) they don’t have front pleats and are a much better shape for me. I wish they’d make them in a cream colour. Maybe the summer drop will have something better.

Just reading your post @neveradullmoment99 , and see you had the same problem from the side. That’s disappointing.

I don’t think they’re a paper bag style exactly @dudsville as the waist sits flat.

OP posts:
Snowyowl78 · 11/03/2023 13:18

@neveradullmoment99 shame they didn’t work out for you, they are defo huge on the leg. I have the charcoal ones, and I tried the navy ones, the medium in navy were definitely smaller, but not small. They’re still a relaxed fit.

Dee1224 · 11/03/2023 15:09

Hi, I am new to this thread, but have been reading for a while via my sister. Just wanted to say, the Pond Fenugreek dress is not oversized imo. My sister tried on the Small and it was too tight on the chest, (she’s a lot smaller than me on the bust, but has wider shoulders). I tried the Medium and loved it but the one in the shop was damaged 🙃. I am a high street 12 and couldn’t have gone down a size.

Dee1224 · 11/03/2023 15:16

I also ordered the brown sandal clogs but they were far too wide - couldn’t keep them on my feet🙃. I am a size 5 with average width feet. They are really nice and a good price, so I am disappointed. www.toa.st/collections/womens-sandals/products/troentorp-leather-clog-sandals-tan

Stravaig · 11/03/2023 15:22

@Dee1224 Oh that's good to know, thank you. I also noticed those, but I have narrow feet!

I have just tried them on again as like them so much, but they are so wide my toes hang over the edge. I tried tightening the back but that just pushed my toes further forward. I am attaching a pic of the clogs, (without my feet!)

Lovely shoes but an even lovelier dog. Those eyes …

Dee1224 · 11/03/2023 17:51

Thanks, @alliscalm. He’s a rescue pup!

faustina · 11/03/2023 19:36

Thanks @Dee1224 - I had those on my wishlist - always so helpful when someone else tries them on
That company who makes the other clogs for Toast also make something similar which is supposed to be narrow. Maybe you could try them instead? It's called Kit+clogs I think. There's also Lotta from Stockholm who have lots online (I have some from there)

I also love your beautiful dog!

Dee1224 · 11/03/2023 20:04

Thanks @faustina! I will check out your recommendations as I need shoes with a raised heel due to an ongoing foot problem 🙃. The search continues.
On a related note: I tried on the black clogs with the studs in store:
www.toa.st/collections/womens-shoes/products/troentorp-monet-leather-clogs-black
They were true to size, but very stiff. The pair I tried left black dye on my skin, (which was a bit odd). I might order some to try at home.

Re: Pond dress. I am 5’4” with short legs and a longer body. The dress was almost floor length on me, (but I still really liked it). I tried it with the cotton marl jumper and thought they looked good together:

dudsville · 12/03/2023 03:27

That's a helpful description @Countmeout , thanks, i won't be tempted!

That does sound like a nice combo @Dee1224 , but would it be mixing different seasons, or was that jumper light? Also, that dog is gorgeous!

Countmeout · 12/03/2023 05:30

Thanks for all that info on the Pond dress @Dee1224 . Sounds as if it would be too long on me. I like to be able to pull a jumper over a dress to wear it in cooler weather. I really like the marl jumper.

@Dee1224 They look such a narrow style in the photo!

Dee1224 · 12/03/2023 09:54

@dudsville, I know what you mean about wearing the jumper with the dress. However, as it’s a cotton mix, it’s quite soft and feels relatively light.

I also tried the Pond dress with the sleeveless tank in the same material and colour:
www.toa.st/collections/womens-knitwear/products/cotton-merino-marl-knitted-tank-mustard-marl

I don’t know why I liked this combo as they are both sleeveless, but it sort of worked!

Dee1224 · 12/03/2023 10:04

@Stravaig, I agree that the footbed itself isn’t particularly wide. I think the reason my toes fall forward and they feel as if they are falling off is because the leather uppers have too much ‘give’. The heel incline is at an angle and pushes my toes forwards over the edge and the leather upper is too soft to stop this happening. I am not explaining myself well 🙃.

I bought some socks to wear with them: www.toa.st/collections/womens-socks-tights/products/mauna-kea-japanese-socks-brown

However, when I tried wearing a pair of my own socks with the sandals, I thought they looked awful, (although this stopped my feet falling forwards!)

ScottishMouse · 12/03/2023 13:42

Wearing my new ikat jacket today, as an indoor layer, over a neat cashmere wool sweater with a pair of non-Toast navy jersey culottes. So comfy and cosy, but with a hint of quirk too. I’m loving it.
As a fellow insomniac, I have been keeping an eye out for the check sleeveless jersey dress appearing overnight in my size, but no luck so far.
Liking the look of the new Aurora sandals. Has anyone tried them or Aurora the shoes they have had for a while now? I wonder what the fit is like as I have wide feet.
